Lyrics:
Didn't we almost have it all
When love was all we had worth giving?
The ride with you was worth the fall my friend
Loving you makes life worth living
Didn't we almost have it all?
The night we hold on 'til the morning
You know you'll never love that way again
Didn't we almost have it all?

Amazing voice.

The hair, the leather jacket, the scarf, the gloves, that perfect face and voice... She had it all. Love.
She is the hottest woman EVER…EVEN NOW!
The voice over all.
She looks so pure on this footage, before big productions, drugs, bobby...
@@gfgranjaI loved Whitney's talent. Her family was involved in her being exposed to drugs before she even met Bobby.
I still remember the envy I felt when my parents took my little brother to a concert she held at Jones Beach, 1986 or 87, I believe. He wasn't a huge fan like I was! ;)
Fun Fact: Whitney Houston is the best, and don't argue with me, because I'm right.
No arguments from me 🙏🏽😊

OMG it's amazing ❤
Me too!! Omg we need her today
it makes me cry sometimes though hearing her sing because this was a god-given gift so obviously and so beautifully.... the COCOON OF GREEDY A## FAMILY+ FRIENDS...,( the "YES!" people tin her life that wanted to use her as a ATM machine... have blood on their hands .. don't let it happen in your family. no matter what, you must be brave and ask for help for yourself or for the one you love. remember that substance use disorder is a family illness as well, and families need to educate themselves about it! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
She had a voice directly sent down from heaven. At her peak the greatest voice ever known to mankind. Untouchable and that's a fact.

So truee! I was like "Oh my gosh!!!" the moment she did that. It was truly amazing!!
That’s my favorite part of the performance as well ❤️
YES YES YES I LOVE THE PURE EMOTION AS SHE SINGS THAT PART!
Right there with you! When I even see a thumbnail of this performance, that part comes straight to mind!
My favorite part.
I love how she goes from slowly easing into the song ... to just killing it. She took her time, and displayed her talent sparingly , and at the right moment. That’s how you sing.
That's one of her weapon. Whitney was crafted
I love this performance for the same reason. She did that with ease. Flawless.
its her dynamics was well crafted.
@@elliemonderondo6891 Yes! Despite having such a huge voice she knew when to pull it all the way back! She also knew when to riff and when NOT to riff.
It was because it was arranged to be that way at that time. Her musical arranger was brilliant just as Whitney putting so much emotion and meaning to the song.
For me this is the most emotional - and at the same time powerful - performance of Whitney Houston of all times . It's a demonstration of her tremendous vocal abilities and it's my favourite song and performance.
Nothing beats Whitney Houston when it comes to vocal production she had incorporated in every song of hers that requires vocal agility. That was her trademark which made her special.
❤❤❤❤❤
Same, out of all her amazing songs, this is my favorite. For some reason it reminds me of her--a shining star who came so close to having it all in life (happiness and peace) but couldn't get there

@@Lurotimi indeed, she had all the desirable qualities one wants in a singing voice and she was a master at controlling it.
no she didn't she didn't sing it how it needs to be sung she sang it like she's strung out on crack took forever between each notes this is how a junkie sings a song it wasn't that bad but it was not anywhere compared to how she could have actually sang it if she still gave a s***...

Caution. Not only
WHAT A MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE. NOBODY SINGS IT BETTER.
That's why she's named as THE VOICE
No one can take it away.
A message to the future generations:
"Don't let Whitney Houston's songs die"
As long as many will remember Whitney Houston, her music will never die.
So true
Yes, I'm 27 years and I wasn't born when she recorded most of her success, but I love her voice and her music. I think her legacy will last forever.
👍🏾
Please don't forget about her
Whitney was a gift from God to Mankind ❤
So many times, people complain that a song isn't exactly like the recorded version when they see/hear it live (making it harder to sing along), but Whitney did the damn thing with this one. I'm so glad that she lived in an age where performances like this one could be preserved for future generations.
I love how in the beginning, it's like she is telling the audience a story, taking them down memory lane etc. However, by the end of it, she was completely immersed in her reminiscing, to the point where you are brought to tears by what she must've been feeling and reliving at the time. It's so rare to see such an honest and vulnerable performance, underpinned by unspeakable talent... Miss you Ms Whitney!!
I love that description
Really? Wow. You can’t tell from here. The emotion poured into this performance is unreal.
Spot on, she never had to fake it, God blessed her and blesses her still, I pray one day I get to meet her in spirit and communicate how deep her music meant in my life and does. Only her.
Vivian..You have said so well what millions of us have tried...Thank you....
The audience was mesmerized
This video should have over 1 billion views. This is live without studio enhancement. She just stood flat footed and delivered from her soul to the listener's soul. You won't find that in today's singers.
Or ANYONE else EVER, TRULY THE VOICE OF VOICES Whitney is definitely in a class ALL BY HER SELF. What a privilege to have lived in this era to witness Such a mind boggling BEAUTY that was Whitney Elizabeth Houston and a voice that is Truly TRULY THE VOICE OF EVERY LIFETIME throughout History.
It's the anointing of God that makes the difference...but the world doesn't understand that..and yet they still appreciate it. But God!
That Part!!!!!
No people don't know talent these days all the kiddies listen to shit
She proved the world why she was called the "voice". No competition can outsing her after such a performance.
I've never seen a more powerful, moving and beautiful vocal delivery in a single performance 😭❤
Rest in peace The VOICE 👑
Damn, people say they're beautiful. They singers that this and the other there was only one drop-dead gorgeous singer with vocals which were unbelievable and that was Whitney Houston.
it's not just the voice. it's the power. it's the control. it's the perfect pitch. this woman is outdoors with a live band and stays in the pocket on every syllable like she's alone in her bathroom.
Basically, I agree. I loved her, but there was flatting in at least 2-3 places in this video.
I couldnt agree more, other artists bring one or two of the quality's you've mentioned here but, whitney brought them all together, outdoors with a live band and gave us total perfection! She has set a bar that will probably never be reached. Truly, the greatest vocalist of all time
@@craigcollins6904 and immediately she goes back on key. What's your point?

Simply The Best Singer of All Times.
Arguably THE most exceptional live performances ever. The ease with which she effortlessly sings is mind-blowing. Her ability to express emotions and utilize her voice is truly unique, probably never seen before or after on planet earth. What about the way she sings 'Didnt we,' 'Didn't we' 'Didn't we' (5:00)? @@ekstertjj I can thankfully say, I am not in this present generation. 😉
My Whitney story. I am in my seventies and I was at that concert 3rd row with my friend Gina. This was one of the eight concerts that I saw Whitney in the mid eighties, all in NY state. I met and talked to her on two occasions, once in Lake Placid and also Saratoga. We were obsessed with her and new we were seeing musical history in the making. At Lake Placid, we went to the Holiday Inn where they were staying around noon (the day of her concert) and saw Ricky Miner and some of her band in the lobby. Everyone was nice and told us Whitney would be coming to the restaurant at some point. Gina and I waited in the narrow hallway. About 30 minutes went by and we looked up and there was Whitney, Robyn Crawford and a bodyguard face to face 3 feet away from us. It was probably the most exciting, surreal feeling I have ever had. Having seen all her videos numerous times she was so beautiful like a Barbie doll come to life right before our eyes. It was just the 5 of us. We told her how much we loved her and couldn't wait to see her that night. We talked to her for about 5 minutes and she signed my vinyl album. A little later she came out of the restaurant and signed some autographs. Gina and I talked to Robyn off to the side during that time and she was really cool. We were in the first row that night. We had seats in row 16 already so we gave two girls $100 to change seats with us. Of the 8 times I saw her, 5 of those were 1st or 2nd row from stage. Too see Whitney live was so incredible and there is no doubt in my mind she is the greatest singer of all time (I have seen many of the best during my life). This video at Saratoga Maybe the best of all of her live videos and I feel so blessed to have been there to see it. I remember her telling the audience they were doing the video and everyone was so excited about it. I also met her brother Gary at Saratoga Radisson hotel in the afternoon of her concert and he gave me 2 3rd row seats after I showed him my 300 page album I had made to honor her. She looked thru my album and jokingly asked if I was giving it to her and I said I don't think so, she autographed my album which I still have. I also gave her roses each of the two years she performed at the NY state fair when she did her first song, one being "How will I Know".
seabslew... Lucky!! I can only imagine 💘
Can you tell me if this concert can be got on dvd.

+freedomm lol nah she was making sure the mic was cool enough to handle the fire she was about to bring lol
+jezzbcawz 😍
This lady's voice goes beyond great but the words of this particular song is personal for me. She explains the sorry of losing a great thing, but happy you experienced the good before it was gone.
I recently bought this live version on vinyl, love the different renditions she does live, she will never not be missed.
"DIDN'T WE? DIDN'T WE? DIDN'T WE..." 😭
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yep i heard it too ... I aint ever heard her growl like that before ... she is the best there ever was and ever will be
It literaly made cry
When I saw your comment... I thought... "wait for it, wait for it. " well, it did not disappoint.
yasssss
I love how she starts out softly effortlessly building up to those big money notes she has. I have goosebumps. She knew how to interpret and tell the story of a song. 😭🙏🏽
YES she did!!! Chills every part of me to the bone!!!
I absolutely understand Whitney 💔 😢 im n my car now 💔😭💔😭💔😭
My love for her songs is super natural
Ur story at the same 🕙......
My LOVE 💕😘
I’m miss her so much she was the greatest female singer of all time I always wondered why we loose so many gifted people like Whitney
The Entertainment Industry is cruel. They see you as a product and not as a human. Poor Whitney she had to be the persona and not the real person she was. I miss her so much and listening to her sing still brings tears to my eyes. She should still be here with us. 😭
Nippy🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
Yes. Saw the new movie last nite. I left it thinking of this with her, MJ, Elvis, Curt Cobaine, Janis and others. It's true of the industry, but there are other factors under the stars control. Money a huge one. Some entertainmers survive and some don't. Stay away from drugs, period. It never ends well. Whitney's case makes me cry every time seeing her. She was just magnificent.
Jesus, she was beautiful!
I admired her singing, she was a singer not a runaway model. Women singers do not need to be beautiful.
I want a good voice and great stage presence ( and I am happy)!
Yes she was
But guess what else ? Take a wild1⃣ shouldn't take that long to figure out
@@kdtennis1 Actually, she was both. A model was what she was before she did this. She was an incredibly beautiful woman who was also an amazing singer. Being as beautiful as she was definitely had a major impact on how quickly she became popular as a singer... especially in the era of MTV, VH1, etc. Just a fact.
@@kdtennis1 but she was beautiful too.
best singer of all time....
damn right
Her emotions expressed during this tune are so believable.
I believe every word she sang
Unbelievable but true 💚
That’s because she was singing it to 1 person sitting in the audience. I was on that tour with them.
@@PerfectlyIimperfect1 Who is that person??

Me
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN......The mastery of the human voice.
The greatest singer of all time.
Crying.. cos I miss Whitney so much...wow
I cant stop crying... her voice so beautiful. Rest in power.
Hello Annette, how are you doing??
Peace
And that ladies and gentlemen is how it's done. Pay close attention cause you'll probably never see it again. The greatest voice of all time. I love how she's controlling the band at 3:22 she's telling them "bring it up, cause I'm about to go off". And again at 5:19 where she tells them "take it down". I can remember sitting up half the night watching VH1 waiting for this video to come on.
I notice also she control her band
I never noticed that till you pointed it out! I thought her hand gestures were just part of her “feeling the music.” Even though it was probably both, she did an excellent job at controlling the band and telling them to quiet down at moments she knew her voice needed to be in the spotlight.
I totally agree!!!
Thank you so much cause you wrote the Truth, indisputable truth! God bless you!🥰
All night watching until my get baggy she is the best ever
Still brings me to tears in 2023. ❤ you Whitney always. Thank you, for sharing your 🎁 with us. 🎶 🎤 🎙
The way she hugs the mic at the end.... What a classic.
This is a Masterclass... I love you, Whitney!!!
Her voice was pure at this time, no over singing ,straining, or hoarse sound . Just effortless. I choose to remember her this way!!!
Erica Sheppard
You said it all the way right!!
that goes for everyone in their prime no one sounds the same old
I gotta say she does oversing but she does it in a very right and necessary way.
Me too ....I chose.to.remember her this way..thanks
I see
I can't watch these vids without a profound sense of sadness.
Same here. It really does pull one's heart strings. I think it's how her life unraveled that still hurts. She almost had it all
Me too
Not only do we miss her beauty and talent, we also miss a simpler and very special era. 😪
she is a legend
Same. Well, my sadness is because I wanted Whitney to have it all. She almost did.
What a breathtaking performance!!! Whitney was the last of a group of singers we'll never find again... such as Anita Baker, Dionne Warwick, Shirley Bassey, Nancy Wilson and many others. The world will miss them all forever!
Vairrrrry naaaaace. When I watch and listen to a singer, I don’t want them stuffing around with complex choreography and using pre-recorded layered vocals etc. Just give me somebody singing in an analogue fashion and feeling it, like this.
None of today’s Divas have what Whitney had.
One of the best vocals of all time. The Agility(runs and riffs) and melisima, resonant upper belt, phrasing F5s,growls,phrased growls, perfect vibrato, falsettos and connected headvoice, emotions and more!
No wonder she was nicknamed The Voice!
This is what makes me happy ! When people like you can describe a voice.. it’s more than just holding a note. When you have the techniques as you mentioned, THATS when I will listen to these current singers. Whitney and others from her time had talent, and they had some of the techniques you mentioned! But by all means, Whitney had the whole formula from resonance, pitch, accuracy, melismas, agility, falsetto, dynamics, breath control, connected registers, interpretation, musicality, I could go ON! She wasn’t human 😭✨
don’t forget her stamina and singing mannerism that she learned from Dionne Warwick.
@@ronjon5962 Yes to ALL of this and she was completely comfortable on stage! No jitters or nervousness. She stood on that stage, had fun and delivered! I saw her twice: in 87 and 92 and she blew me away ❤
SHE IS,WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST SINGER OF ALL TIME.
WE DEARLY MISS YOU
