I’ve never stopped listening to her since then. I’ve listened to every single record and live performance of hers that is known to CZcams and wherever. This performance should be pinned in the records as the best musicality, live band, and storytelling to ever bless the earth. Not including her absolute insane vocals. Whitney is at peace, and she did a job well done here.

I'm 16 and I can't stop listening to it. Her unreachable voice has impressed me for years now that I have been listening to her music and I will never forget it.

I hate to break this to you but she started losing her vocal range and power in the mid-late 90s due to a severe crack cocaine habit that withered her body and eventually caused the heart attack that killed her in the bath. She isn't "holding back" here, she's doing her best to work around the fact she can't hit the big notes and sustains that she used to. The difference is obvious when you watch her performances from the late 80s/early 90s. It got worse and worse through the 2000s with her appearing clearly intoxicated, fatigued and confused on stage.

Don't think she had Amy Winehouse's timing though. Wnitneys's head voice is equally as astonishing as Amy's timing though I know no one else who compares them as singers (female)

But, she knew that, and handled it as a professional with that gifted voice would. The original recording that captivated us, was perfection personified, & was probably never captured again, but that's ok: It's in our heads & captured on record forever.

I heard “How will I know” on the radio when it was newly release 1985. Went straight out and bought her debut album. I knew nothing about her, but the song went straight into my system. Something very unique, and it was her voice. I was 22. Still have that vinyl album. You are dearly missed, Nippy. ❤

@@mcblaloc It was a wonderful rendition. Sure, there were a couple of minor key issues, & as much as she wanted to, she didn't go for the extended high notes towards - but not AT, the end. But, she knew that, and handled it as a professional with that gifted voice would. The original recording that captivated us, was perfection personified, & was probably never captured again, but that's ok: It's in our heads & captured on record forever.
