With the slowest car he managed to take an average of 5 cars at the start because they had the only car of the grid without all the electronics. He had to start with pure racing. At the end of the first round he was last again because the car was too slow. And in the rain he was able to take a few also. The problem with Jos is that he didn't have money. • @filmandfirearms

It would also basically eliminate aerodynamic innovation. Those wings were so simple, there wasn't much you could do to improve them by the end of the simple wings. Rain will stop soon... 2 laps running in heavy rain with slicks. Fittipaldi spins and stops in the middle of the track, just to Prost hit his car and put the safety car out of boxes. And again... How about the 1975 Austrian Grand Prix? Like Brazil '03, it was soaking wet and there were a lot of accidents. The race was halted on lap 29, and as leader Vittorio Brambilla came up to the chequered flag, he spun, hit the wall, and crossed the finish line backwards. Then, while he and his team were celebrating, some of the other teams were preparing to line back up on the grid because they thought the race was going to be restarted! It wasn't, and Brambilla, the oldest driver on the grid at 37, took the only win of his career.

3:20 Such a small mistake would wipe out all the last-lap drama under current rules. Article 59.2 of the current F1 Sporting Regulations states: "Should for any reason the end-of-session signal be given before the leading car completes the scheduled number of laps, or the prescribed time has been completed, the sprint session or the race will be deemed to have finished when the leading car last crossed the Line before the signal was given. [...]" That means the race result would be as if the race ended one lap early.

I don't remember which race it was--definitely in the "wings and aero" era--but I saw footage of one race that ended with three cars coasting toward the line, zigzagging like mad to move fuel into their fuel lines to get the engines moving again. If you could find that and show it I'd love to see it again.

You missed the 1973 Canadian GP.....I as there.....rainy day, many incidents and the first use of the safety car in F1, a 914 driven by local hero Eppie Wietzes.....which picked up Howden Ganley as the leader...my lap charts said Emmo was leading and Chapman threw his hat as he crossed the line....chaos after the finish and after a long delay the win was given to Revson....5th by my scoring. Met Emmo years later and as soon as I said Mosport, he exclaimed, “ the rain! I won that race!”. Met Cevert that weekend and became an instant fan. And went to the Glen two weeks later to cheer him on.....
