For those storing your chainsaws... you may want to store them horizontally and place a small flat aluminum pan (like the ones for BBQ grill runoff) underneath the body to catch the leaking chain oil... they always leak.
True
Lay it on it’s side and it won’t leak. Another trick is to loosen the oil cap to relieve pressure but you have to remember to tighten it before use.
The way you hung the ladders is genius thank you for that and all the other tips.
Glad you like them!
4:37- "they aren't the prettiest things". For a shed using leftovers and scraps, I'd say that's really a wise use of materials. I just finished my shed with your Ideas. Love watching all you smart folks and getting ideas from youtube. Thanks April...
I keep going back and rewatching this video. So many coo tips on shed organization! Thank you for taking the time to post this. I will be doing most if not all of the things you did. Awesome sauce!!!
Awesome! Glad you liked it and find it useful!
Mam,, You organized your tools more than my life,, Well done
I like how everything is cut nice and straight to fit between the 2x4s and the dowel idea is actually really great-I've been using extra large utility hooks but dowels you can customize the length. Your video makes me want to get out our tools and start organizing!
I absolutely love your channel. I'm getting an 8 x 12' shed installed in a week and will definitely use some of your ideas. Can't wait for my garage to have fewer lawn and garden items so that it can become the woodworking space that I've been dreaming about for quite some time! Thanks for all of the ideas and education across the board with your wealth of videos!!
Hey April, I think your tips were great! I love the advice on thinking about what you will be storing and what your shelving needs are. As for putting your gear in plastic bins that someone else commented there’s always gonna be that person that has to feel like they are contributing by giving advice that is known as common sense. You do great things and you gave me some great ideas on what to do with my scrap lumber thanks for the inspiration and advice.
So simple, yet, so effective! Thank you , April!
I just used this idea for hanging my shovels, weedeater, etc. Worked beautifully. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the video. I was needing some ideas for our storage shed, you definitely provided the ideas. Thanks again,
This video motivated me to reorganize our garden shed. Thanks April.
OMG I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL ..YOU ARE VERY CREATIVE ...♡♡♡
Great ideas - thanks for sharing! I'm going to use so many of these for our very first shed organizing project. Thanks April!
Great idea for the ladder mounting
The work you did looks really good. I have people that work for me that don't do anything you did that well...Good job.
good ideas. I like The Notches on the decking boards to screw into the face of the studs
Great solutions. i really like how you staggered all of the yard tools. Nice use of the space you had.
I love the fact that you made all of the projects in this video ......Simple ......it is so easy I can do it after watching your video
I don't care for the videos that make a 30 min project into an all weekend task 👍👍
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I have been searching for videos for each thing that you did, but only found videos that were similar, yet only useful to get an idea of what to do. This video covered every single thing, in exactly the same way that I will be able to replicate. Plus, you didnt waste time with extra self-serving explaining or non-related stories for more video time. It was clear, concise, informative, smart, and fast. Im headed out to my shed. Thanks so much!
Awesome! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Great ideas April. Really like the ladder holder setup.
Young lady, you're brilliant. I bought a new home 4 years ago and the garage is still a disaster. You made the video that I've been waiting a long time to see. THANKS !
This video was awesome you just have to keep in mind it's just a shed not a tiny home
I have seen a lot of videos on this storage and you have everyone else beat!!!
You show how to do it without a lot of money and you also cover 90% of all storage! You really thought out everything my hat off to you.
Ps wish I had people like you around me to talk to.
Keep up the great work 👍
Awesome - very creative solutions. You've given me new hope on handling the limited space in my shed.
Absolute best ideas I've seen! Thanks April, your teaching style is also amazing and it's great to be inspired to take action now opposed to winding up with a huge list of items to buy!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
You are definitely a top notch April!!!
At last a woman whom I can believe that actually can do the work! Kudos.
Thankyou April, the fence boards as decking is something I've never thought of.
I see there is currently no electricity on the shed, If you plan on adding it later I'd suggest putting everything in the shed (everything that's going to live there at least) and note where they seam to like sitting. Then you can plan out the outlets and lights accordingly, and reduce the amount of wire you've gotta buy, or reuse, for the job.
If you don't want to run power out to the shed, you might think about wiring it as if you were going to, but add in a power distribution box that you can plug into, and just run an extension cord when you need to.
TY more videos please.
That ladder holder design is awesome, I might have to do something similar!
Didn't need the elaborate roller nonsense. Would have slid fine on anything. Seems like it's book smarts not real work experience
Wow, the ladder hanger! 🥳👌 So simple & so brilliant all at once! 👏👏
The ladder storage was pretty sick
Great ideas April..the ladder design has solved a problem for me..thanks 👍👍
Great Job well done April. Using some scrap wood laying around is the best for saving money. Thumbs up
Great job I was at Home Depot kept replaying video to draw up ideas 💡
Good stuff
Great ideas, very well done! It's SO worth the effort to organize like that! Thank's for the video!
Very cool, April! The way you approach the design for utilizing the space in between the studs was a great idea. Have a good week!
Damn! I am impressed. A helluva lot of creativity and ingenuity went into this video on your project! I’m 65....my shed is a mess. So it’s true that this “old dog” can learn some new tricks! Bravo-Zulu, on this great video!!
Love the use of scrap lumber. Great way to save money.
Yes indeed! Thanks for watching.
@@AprilWilkerson My pleasure.
simple but brilliant, thank you
Nice Work
I love your style in video editing and photography, making you record all the details with a short video time
Organization and creativity go hand in hand. Congrats on having both. Good job!
Thank you, I just got my building delivered yesterday and can’t wait to go home and use your ideas!
Great job April! Getting organized is so satisfying.
The ladder rack is great I'm definitely going to install some of these for mine. Thanks for the tips
The best instal I ever added to my shed was a motion sensor light switch. It’s nice to have the light come on when I open the door at night.
Great ideas
Liking the stepladder storage and also notching the boards to fit around the studs to fit flush against the inside of the walls.
Your notched 2”x6” tool holders between the stud was crazy simple, cheap and effective. Subscribed as your videos are superbly produced with excellent tips.
Wow! This was an awesome video April. I have a shed build in my future and you gave me a bunch of ideas to better organize. Thanks
Great Job April im an 75 year old Carpenter, and a retired Sheet Metal Worker !!! You Know your Business !!! Keep up the Good Work !!! One of the Best things in Life, is Building something, than at the end of the Day... Take a Second and say to Yourself , Wow look what i built, it Just Does a body Good !!! Keep up the Good Work !!! Do me a Favor don't put those Screws in your Mouth !!! It Can Be Dangerous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the way you hung the ladders. I'm going to try something similar tomorrow morning.
This will be one of my summer projects! It looks like a lot of fun!
I love keeping my things organized, this is good way how to do it.
May try some of your ideas helpful
Three chain saws? My kind of woman !!!!! Thanks for the handy tips, gonna make the one for the weed wacker today.
Only one starts...
Great job! I love how you said Voila correctly. I like the double shovel holder and the fact you ride bikes. Thanks I ll use these ideas on my shed.
Great ideas April. I'm in the planning stages of building a new shed, so these will come in handy.
April, awesome tips. From personal experience, store anything with liquids closer to the ground instead. Trust me on this. Summer heat and winter cold will weaken those plastic containers and end up like the messes I've had to deal with. I hope this helps.
Great tip on the liquids! Makes so much sense too. Sheds/garages aren't typically climate controlled. In the summer, heat rises. I've noticed some of my containers start to bulge a bit during those months. Keeping them lower will certainly be safer and smarter if anything were to leak. Will be re-organizing this spring for sure! Thanks for sharing.
Fabulous ladder idea!
Perfect! Thanks for the motivation and demo. I love how you design simply and with the actual storage needs in mind.
New sub. Just moved from a large house to a smaller house. Thanks for your time. 👍🏼
I like how you organized the use of the walls. Currently planning the shelving for my tuff shed and may use some of your ideas for hanging tools. Thx, cmc
Thank you for the video. I'm fixing to buy the same building. And this gave me a ton of useful ideas to save space.
@@lydialas8756 I'm good.
I just built a 12X16 shed. I’m adding shelving and tool storage as thoughtfully as possible to maximize my space and convenience. You gave me some good ideas.
Thank you for keeping it simple. I have watched many of your videos and although I am a handyman, my skill level is much lower than yours. My wife and I appreciate your attitude of making things more useful. Again I thank you!
Thank you for your kind words. Everyone's skill set is different but don't let that stop you from attempting what project you want to do. Research and one step at a time. The feeling at the end of the project is amazing. Best of luck in all your projects and thank you for support.
Brilliant, thank you for some great inspiration!
Great job April! I appreciate the fact that you are doing this yourself, not supervising contractors!
Very nice size shed too. I like the rolling ladder hanger idea. I currently keep them on hangers on the outside
of the shed, but they get really messy from rotting leaves and rain. I have a 6' and 12' ladder, but may need to keep the extension
ladder outside. I also need a ramp like you built in the other video as my heaviest items are a big generator and power washer.
I may design a 4-5 foot "flat" area to meet the shed as opposed to just the incline. I am also thinking of building an exclosure of
sorts on the backside of the shed to store basic garden digging tools....they can live outside. I'll keep the cutting tools inside tho.
First and foremost, get RID of the junk that you've been keeping for decades and never used!!
Keep up the great videos.
Getting rid of junk creates a lot of space.
I've read on here where you say that we're not supposed to hang our weedeaters and chainsaws vertically. Well I've read and listened to your explanations and it doesn't matter whether I lay my chainsaws vertically or horizontally they leak out the chain and bar oil every time. Lastly when I hang up my weedeaters on the wall like she has done the location of my tank cap is on the top side so there for I have less amount of fuel leakage or either way it doesn't make a difference. But I'm glad to know or hear that from you. I have never had a problem starting my equipment and I have always felt that it was the way I handle my equipment before I begin to start my equipment and that is that I make sure before I ever prime the fuel bulb is that I shake the equipment so the fuel that may or may not have separated it gets everything mixed back up and since I started doing that 25-30 years ago I've not had one fouled out spark plug and my equipment starts on the first pull.
Wow!!! Awesome ideas April. You have a wonderful talent. All praises to the most high. Great Video. Thank you for sharing.
Some really great ideas for storage! Well done. It was like a jigsaw puzzle to get the tools packed in tight like you did.
Tom's Dreamshop Worx I
The ladder thing is awesome :)
Wow. I’m impressed. What a clever lady! You go girl. This is so empowering. Keep shining your light for others to see. ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you so much!!
Pure genius! Simple, functional and great looking, too!
Omg awesome idea on the ladder holder!!! I’ll be doing that in my shed!
So awesome! Thank you for these GREAT tips/ideas! You're da best! 👌🏾
Excellent. I never thought of cutting slots in the rear shelf board is the shelf goes right back to the wall. Thank you yet again.
Awesome ideas thanks April!! I was just looking for some ideas on space utilization and I stumbled upon this video, so thank you.
First thing to do: paint all the interior bright white.
Makes *such* a difference when it comes to lighting a space!
Until about 3 years when it'll start looking dingy, grimy and dirty; also to mention chipping from various equipment scuffing the walls over time. It wont be looking so good, then. So in a long term perspective, it's just best to keep the wood natural.
Yes white paint, windows, battery powered light fixture and skylights or solar tubs.
I agree - white paint. It’ll last years.
I could spend whole day listening to you say "bandsaw" :D
Lmboooooo!!!!!
A 2 x 4 on a maybe 45 @ the top of your ladder, wall to loft. Crawl through. may make getting up and down easier. Great job and tips 👍
Great DIY organization ideas. Projects that a beginner can do. Love it!
April as simple as the brackets and shelves may seem, I never would have thought to put slots into them so the butt up against the was. And the slots for the tools to hang off of too. My shed will definitely benefit from this video. I currently have just nails in the wall or studs to hang tools off of and it is not an efficient use of space. Thanks for another great video!~Dolly
You're a dang genius. Love your method of organization. Great ideas!
HI MISS WILKERSON, MY NAME IS MICHAEL, I LOVE WATCHING YOU WITH YOUR NEW IDEAS FOR ANY KIND OF PROJECTS THAT YOU COME UP WITH, MY WIFE AND I HAVE OBSERVED LOTS OF YOUR VIDEOS AND ANY OF THEM ARE GREAT AND VERY WELL EXPLAINED. THANK YOU SO MUCH MISS WILKERSON & GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR FAMILY AS WELL.
So simple,so brilliant. It's inspired me to finally do something with my garage at home.Thanks.
Great video!!
Very nice April I enjoyed this vid! I have two sheds that I need to organize badly and love your ideas. My shelf will have a stack of drawers on it for sure unlike yours haha :) :)
Beautiful! best shelving system I have seen so far and on a budget. I just got a new shed so naturally I was on here looking for ideas and this was it. Thanks!
Great work, thanks for taking the time to share
A solar attic fan kit would help keep the shed cool. Great video with some ideas I can use. Thanks!
Great video and storage ideas! One word of caution, I would not store my motorcycle helmets in an unconditioned space for any extended period of time! The heat deteriorates the foam shock absorption liner under the shell. They don't actually last very long as it is, much less exposed to high heat in a shed! Free advice, worth what it cost! Thanks for all you great videos. I have used many of your ideas in our home projects. Thanks again from Tennessee!
Dug my brother's HF welding helmet out today,
from his new shed. Everything was all warped.
steve
That ladder made on the studs was very impressive. I almost bought an $80 ladder from HF yesterday for our lofted shed. Thank you!
Awesome! I'm glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Girl you did a great job on your building thanks for sharing
I NEED YOU IN MY LIFE!
A woman that is creative and knows how to use hand tools. I have fallen in LOVE!!
So very nice and easy right there. Thanks so much as I have to figure out the exact build I wanna tackle with my replacement shed and I will incorporate many of these storage tips as well. Awesome tutorial and awesome job!!!!
Your a Genius. going to apply all these as soon as I get my shed.
April, some plastic bags and rubber bands on the top of your moto boots will keep bugs from nesting in them while stored.
; ) Great tip, thanks.

I was going to say the same thing. The Texas Hill Country is notorious for the brown recluse. You don't want them biting you as you put your boots on.
Came here to say exactly this.
wortheffort
aren't the prettiest things? those shelves are gorgeous! utility is beautiful too =D haha
Gorgeous! You are poring it on a little thick dont you think! Functional yes, gorgeous it isent
Good ideas. My favorite is the ladder roller/hanger. Thanks.
most impressive use of space, good to see that it is not being wasted.
awesome video !!
1000 thumbs up !!
