Van (The Man) hit the radio when I was 6yrs old, I am now 60. I feel like his music is literally part of my soul and it will remain there till the day I pass.
I saw Van in 89. He took the roof off and had soul to spare. Fantastic gig. Oh and he is a perfectionist.
Van Morrison's recording career spans nearly seven decades. He is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist. He can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had tons of hits such as "Brown Eyed Girl", "Moondance", "Tupeleo Honey", "Into The Mystic" & "It Stoned Me" etc.
Thank you for your info 🙏.
This is one of my favorite live performances ever. So glad you reacted to it.
George Ivan Morrison, Born in Cyprus Avenue, Belfast, Northern Ireland. One of the First big singers to come from our nation, to achieve world wide recognition in the Pop music genre. Some of his hits include the classic Brown Eyed Girl, Gloria, Tupelo Honey, Bright Side of the Road, Moondance, Into the Mystic and Days Like This.
Soon as this fired up, brought me back to the 8-12hr road trips to visit family as a kid in Aus. Van & the band blasting away. Good times
No relation to Jim Morrison but The Doors supported Van’s band Them at the Whiskey A Go Go in the 60s. After that Jim adopted some of Van’s stage moves.
Robbie Robertson has said this was his favourite act for the night.
You can never go wrong with Van the Man! lol So glad u love this artist Nick. Plays many instruments and sings with a TON of Irish soul.
Van was my husband's choice for his funeral. He was the soundtrack of our life together. He sings great gospel songs, too.
If I may ask, which song did he choose? I've given strict instructions it's his Madame George for mine.
Van on form is very hard to beat. This is right up there. His live LP It's Too Late To Stop Now is also stunning.
@@ejtringham Entrance: Have I Told You Lately, Recessional: Whenever God Shines His Light.
(a personal fave is Tupelo Honey - and thanks for reminding me of Madame George)
Sorry for your loss. Into the music is the song I want to exit to
He used to live in Mill Valley (Marin County) California, & performed often @ the Sweetwater Saloon, just down the street from me !
Love his music and his voice. "Brown Eyed Girl", "Into the Mystic" are my favourites.
Finally!!! I’ve been wanting someone to react to this video for forever!
vans original inspiration was the blues singers Ray charles the main guy but also eventually collaborated with john Lee Hooker .and he has a song starting with
'When I was a young boy
Back in Orangefield
I used to look out
My classroom window and dream
And go home and listen to Ray sing
"I believe to my soul" after school
Must listen to Van singing "TB Sheets", one of his best serious songs. Van's catalogue is immense
Van has the greatest voice ever...prove me wrong!
And it stoned me is an awesome song by him. Really most of his stuff is amazing.
Especially live versions of And It stoned me,
This is my favourite live recording. Patrick you legend. Cracks me up how drunk Van is too
You did a great reaction to my request for Cypress Avenue. Keep going if you can. St Dominc’s Preview will slay you.
Van had his first hit at 16 with “Gloria.” His inspirations were blues giants - Howling Wolf, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker (who he played with much later). Also Irish folk singers, and country like Hank Williams especially.
In this video he’s got his eyes closed because he was paralyzed with stage fright. He almost didn’t go on. But he loved The Band, and lived near them. He was hardcore drinking buddies with The Band’s keyboardist Richard Manuel, one of the few musicians he ranked as good as he knew he was. He’s called Van the Man, but only because it rhymes better than “God.”
Add Ray Charles to his inspiration list.
@@88wildcat HUGE. I think part of his love for Richard Manuel was how much he sounded and played like Charles.
Add Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Lead Belly, Jelly Roll Morton & Solomon Burke to name a few
When I leave the room, I try to exit like Van exits the stage in this video.
05:47 He's 100 percent right. Dude knows his stuff.
One of Van's big influences, besides the old blues guys, was Jackie Wilson. You should check out Van's track 'Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile)'.
Loved this reaction!! So soulful, such an amazing performance! PLEASE Review Van Morrison - Beside you!!! Noone on CZcams has done it yet!
best version of the song also
Van the man fan here, he was a window cleaner from here in Belfast Northern Ireland in the early Troubles, and a big blues lover and had the voice to match, he is still preforming and going strong, and is a real legend round these parts, as a local boy does good
Now you gotta do some of The Band's original work where only they sing! Fantastic music. "Up on cripple creek" is a fun one.
Do more Van!!!! & yes he was drunk AF b4 this to the point the band didn’t think he could perform. & he said this is his routine or something like that
His influences were, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, Hank Williams, Charlie Parker, Mahalia Jackson,Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly and Jelly Roll Morton. A wide range of artists
Van Morrison....Into the Mystic or Crazy Love....just great stuff.
This is a great live Movie...it is the final show for the legendary band...THE BAND...check them out too...Robbie Ronertson (RIP); this is my fav live van video ever....ty
Van the man !!! What an Irish soul !!!
He's no doubt high as a kite. Not unusual for him. Absolutely LOVE him. He's one of a kind. Lyrically a GIANT.
His favorite is Jelly Roll Morton who he constantly refers to
I know this is 8 months ago so you might not see this but Marcus King is someone you will like. Wildflowers & Wine is one that is perfect. Goodbye Carolina (from the Grand Ol Opry is so touching.
Into The Mystic
Van Morrison grew up listening to scat music from his father.
btw even eric clapton sings like this just ina more subtle way erics actualy got one of the best growels out there. its the understated way he does it. vans got the baritone voice , but go back and u wil see he could sing high as anything also
Van the man sings Caravan
Dr John 'Such a night', is also a fantastic performance from The Last Waltz. You would dig it @ThatSingerReactions
I love Van Morrison he such a good singer. Speaking of classics you gotta check out And When I Die by Blood Sweat and tears.
Jeff buckley did an amazing cover of Morrison 's song. (The way young lovers do) Live at sine. It's insanely good!
His earliest soul influences were Ray Charles, Sam Cooke and Bobby Bland, which would have been extremely hard to find in Belfast in the early 60s i imagine.
etta james after this , that sound
the doors and van played some of the same clubs van says jim stole some of his moves
YES. YEEEEEEESSSS!!!
The question, is he related to Jim Morrison, lol.
Most vernacular words comes from Irish slang!!
"I love his personality" is an ironic statement since when he isn't performing he is completely devoid of personality. And I don't mean when he is off stage I mean in between songs. He completely ignores the audience and wants nothing to do with them. Is that good or bad? That's up to you to decide. But most people expect the performer to at least acknowledge them...
Dom ice to see you back to Van. Ever watch the DVD I sent you
Have you checked out Gabriel Henrique singing Oh Happy Day yet? from sister act?
You’re probably more related to Jim Morrison than Van Morrison is, lol - but I must admit that was funny.
Enjoy your show ,check out van morrison
IM BEEN TRANSENDED LIVE
Please react to Morissette "Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw" (SOCIAL HOUSE LIVE)
Check out Bruce Cockburn...awesome singer/songwriter/guitar player... I recommend If I had a Rocket Launcher or Wondering where the Lions Are ty...leave you alone now..have a great day
His greatest hits are not his best songs: for those listen to perhaps the greatest ever live album Too Late to Stop Now and the marvellous Listen to the Lion. The wonderful album Veedon Fleece with You dont push the River. And finally one of the greatest ever soul albums with Common One and Summertime in England.
People think he's drunk but he's not and as far as his influences, his father had the greatest collection of blues, soul , jazz and country in Ireland. Van grew up listening to all the greats he can sing every type of music, he's the greatest artist of all time! screw the beatles. Oh and he is not related to Jim, as a matter of fact Jim Morrison stole his moves from Van.
not related...JIm Morrison (American), Van the Man...the Belfast Cowboy... (Irish)...lol
Not related to Jim morrison. Irish born poet, songwriter, instrumentalist. My fave ever!!
Listen to real hip hop 2012 by lil b
No relation to Jim Morrison
Yes they are related. They are rock n roll brothers from a different mother........and father! lol
Zero relation to Jim Morrison
