In my opinion, this is the greatest musical arrangement of all time. Everything from the piano, to the trumpet, to the sax, and the original version even has a killer violin solo. Troubadours will always be my favorite song, it’s truly timeless.
Van is one of the best soul singers ever.
For the record, that's Pee Wee Ellis on saxophone. He was James Brown's bandleader back in the '60s when he recorded "Cold Sweat" and many of his other biggest hits. The trumpet player is Mark Isham. He went on to compose many famous movie soundtracks.
Van Morrison is on a whole other level. He is extremely popular and acclaimed.
I love and appreciate diversity in my day. We weren't so focused on "genres" just loving music of all kinds! I don't understand why we.ve gone backwards! See the good shit we can make together? Thank you!
And this kids is how music is done, live and uncut in one take. No auto tune, no beat boxes or drum machines. Watch and listen and learn. Definitely some sangin, sangin' here!
More Van!!!!
Yes. He can sing.
Troobadoors, This is the legend Van Morrison!!! Enough Said.
Lucky to have seen him live 4 times. "Van the Man" concerts were impeccable. All his musicians we're at the top of their game. They would come to play! He's prolific too. Over 60+ albums. Lots to discover. Enjoyed your reaction.
Consider yourself been introduced! wooooow!
Greatest reaction video of all time.
Van (from his middle name Ivan) grew up in Belfast Northern Ireland. Born just after WWII, he grew up in a tense civil rights movement between the UK protestants and Irish Catholics, which his biographer said, influenced his music. After WWI, the Irish landmass claimed independence from the UK, but the northern tip was about half loyal to the UK and remained as part of the UK via the treaty negotiations. When Van was in his twenties, that tension turned into a 30 year long war with one half of the city taking up arms against the other half of the city.
You are in for a journey. If you want to see how wild he can get: Cypress Avenue Live in Belfast, Domino, Caravan, Listen to the Lion
Sax Pee Wee Played with James Brown and created the "James Brown sound" Troubadours were the newsmen of times gone by "from town to town"
That live recording is incredible.
The brief overlap of horn and sax was astoundingly beautiful
"Troubadour" (pronounced true-ba-door)these days simply means "singer". But the official definition goes way back -- "Troubadours were poets and singers who used to travel around and perform for noble families in Italy and France in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries."
Please check out Ballerina from the same concert. This is an excellent choice by the way. Van Morrison has his own style. And he lives there alone. You cannot touch him
i sent Dom the DVD
Rip Pee Ellis 1941. 2021 incredible. sax

Have you listened to Magic Time? It's the title track of a sweet Van Morrison CD. Stranded, Celtic New Year, I'm Confessin', Just Like Greta and They Sold Me Out.
Jim Morrison is Jim Morrison. Van Morrison is Van Morrison. Two different people with different first names. Jim Morrison is an American, who was the "Front man" for The Doors. Van Morrison, is a British guy, and he is from the same era as Jim Morrison, as far as when they were performing. Both were huge stars in the 1960s Classic Rock eras. Van Morrison and Jim Morrison even performed at "The Whiskey A-Go Go" in 1967, in Los Angles on the Sunset Strip. Van is still performing today in his mid 70s.
I just subscribed. Loved your reaction to Adele’s 30 album! I searched to see if you had any Van Morrison reactions. So happy to find you have. Might you consider reacting to my fave Tupelo Honey or Into The Mystic? How fantastically soulful an Irish-man can be!! And another request might be the FABULOUS Ms Bonnie Raitt! I think you’d really appreciate her soulful tone. ❤️
I put this up against mindless rap music - any day of the week!!!
