The big reason people are against Sony buying Paramount is that Sony, like Paramount, is a legacy studio. A legacy buying a legacy studio means one less legacy studio meaning one less major place for creators to pitch their ideas. It’s Disney buying Fox but with arguably less benefits.

“X is reportedly acquiring/merging with Paramount” is becoming a biweekly story at this point.
Because the owners are picky
I feel like I need to explain what go-shop period means in this context. I don’t think it’s something that Shari Redstone is hoping for to get a better deal, it would be nice, but it’s not a necessity. The go-shop period, as highlighted by Variety is because Skydance is against majority of minority shareholder vote on the deal. Shari wanted that to protect herself from lawsuits. They negotiated that by doing go-shop for 45 days and giving stronger protection for Shari Redstone in legal filings, all lawsuits will fall on Skydance. That’s what previously put a hold to the deal. I think this is the final one and Skydance has won. Because, reportedly David Ellison really impressed Shari and she’s trusting him in keeping the company more or less in tact.

I initially misheard NAI as "An AI" so it sounded like "An AI controls almost 80% of voting shares in Paramount". An AI would be a terrible owner for a studio or any company for that matter. :)

If Warner and Paramount does merge or Warner buys them that be good for MeTV Toons if you want Nicktoons on there because it’ll be officially under Warner Bros library and also it lowers the risk of Disney buying both of them and owning Star Trek DC or both bad enough Disney owns Star Wars and Marvel
