This reminded me to cancel one of my subscriptions
Shocking 😯 maybe 😂😂😂 don't keep raising the prices so often then release subpar content seems like rocket science 😂😂😂
Also, having your customers paying for ads for service that raises it's price tag.
@@metalcrip89 agreed
Lets create a Master Bundle and we will call it "Cable".
The reason John doesn’t churn is because he’s a multimillionaire 😂
No he isn't.
I don't churn.
@@toshtao1Well… he probably is, but almost anyone who owns a house these days is technically a millionaire, so it’s not really that big a deal to be a millionaire or multi-millionaire these days…
But the point is, John is more well off than most, and not struggling to afford things like streaming services. People who are likely to “churn” will be people on the lower end of the economic ladder.
The only one I kept forever is Netflix. 11 years non-stop
Nor to mention, its all a business expense when he does his taxes, so it's not an "extra" for him, its deductible.
Churnability is one of the perks of leaving the old cable model. They knew this, just like password sharing. Its just this year's excuse to raise prices for poor performance.
It's just the prices, can't password share, lack of content doesn't help ether.
The other half of people just forgot too cancel their subscription.
It's the consumers exercising their spending power. The streamers brought this on themselves with their greed
I can put up with bundles, ads, price hikes, but once they start mandating contracts, I'm done.
Same here and my family doesn't churn but employment is unpredictable. My house is paid for (no mortgage), my car is paid for (no note) and I still for the most part live check to check. I don't want the commitment if circumstances change. Yea if they talk contracts im done with streaming.
I churn every year. Peacock and Disney have a Black Friday deal and I get Disney/Hulu for $5 a month and Peacock for $19 the whole year. Well worth getting a new email and churning it up
here in the UK the cost of living is so high, the money that we earn is not the same as the money that we use to buy even just the basic things. Everything is just so expensive
I am a churner….i can’t afford all of these services at once!😳
So what John is saying the way to beat churning is to turn the streaming services into cable
I literally cancel immediately after subscribing because I don’t want to forget what I’m paying for and only remember several bills later. Fortunately you still get the full month of the streaming even after canceling so I can check out shows for a month straight and renew/resubscribe if I get hooked on a good show past the subscription’s expiration date.
Churning is inevitable. There’s no way to stop because a lot of people are only excited to see a few things. Like some people only want to watch let’s say the new Agatha series on Disney+ and then when that’s over they’ll unsubscribe until Daredevil releases. There’s nothing the studios can do to stop that no matter what they do. Bundles won’t help that, signup fees wouldn’t help it, it’s a simple matter of the fact that a good amount of people only like one specific set of content and that’s it.
Breaking news! People don’t like spending money on things they don’t use.
Services need to allow pausing like Netflix used to.
There is too much out there. To the point I’ve cancelled services just because I’m tired of it all. Nothing coming out is true must see so instead I rather just watch local sports or something on CZcams.
If I can't borrow a friend's or family member's password, I don't want it. I usually use Tubi, Pluto TV, and CZcams.
Love, love, LOVE Tubi!
Churned the whole time. There's absolutely no way you can watch everything on these services at once. There's no way in hell I'm paying for 6 separate services when at most I can watch 1-2 shows simultaneously.
How about 10% off the cost for every year you stay, up to 5 year bonus to reward loyalty, so if you been a member for 5 years then your getting 50% off
If I knew that Max was going to stay at the current price for their loyal customers then I wouldn't churn. There's no incentive not to churn. They're going to keep raising prices on everyone
Good thing I've been stocking up on physical media because when streaming becomes too expensive i can pull the plug much easier!
Same! Though I don’t buy any marvel, Pixar or Star Wars on physical media because I expect them to never leave Disney plus and the value is pretty well worth it on its own
Wow, ICQ... Haven't heard of that in... Longer than I care to admit...😬
Yeah....Im good on that. Losing a subscription doesn't hurt much when I have website that will give me whatever show I want less than 24 hours after it releases. Lost Hulu and HBO max....doing just fine without them. 🤷🏽♂️
which website?
Makes sense. There’s usually only 1 show I’m interested in watching at a time on a streamer. I’m not paying for a subscription if I’m not going to use it after that show ends 🤷🏻♂️
Churning is an entirely predictable outcome and the optimal strategy for the consumer. Content exclusivity lead to a fragmented landscape, a flood of new content to entice subscriptions, and costs that can't be justified unless you're able to share an account or use the services regularly. Either people keep to one or two streaming services or they churn, baby, churn.
Basically bring back cable ... 😂
Whenever I go to unsubscribe from Stars they offer me 3 months for 2 or 3 dollars a month. Why couldn't that be the price from the start.
This is exactly what happens when every studio wants to have its own streaming service. Said it since day one that, apart from about 20% of the users across the market, most users would not be able to keep paying for one service after another.
Streaming sites are stupid... Series use to have 10 seasons with 20 episode each... Now 8 episode 2 seasons.. i can just wait till all episodes are out and then subscribe 1 month see all the eoisodes and move on.
man ya'll making watching shows sound like doing task at work lol..
Maybe offer a loyalty deal. Price lowers over time.
pretty much the argument i've been hearing for a while, Cable 2.0 Streaming Edition.
Allow churn or expect 🏴☠️. I'd rather pay for a good vpn than be ripped off.
The problem is I’m guessing you’re talking about Pirate Bay is that when you’re using pirate you stealing streaming service isn’t a necessity I do think
Streaming services need to Provide better bundles
@@Alton7771 bundling is anti competitive and should simply be illegal. If it is so unnecessary we don't need to enforce laws to protect the production of it.
@@Pelicanzzz doesn’t matter Pirate Bay is still stealing
I would’ve thought it would be more honestly. My Spotify stays on but everything else gets two months max before I switch
As someone from England, I’m curious if the Wrexham series has made any people in America want to watch live English Football (on tv)?
Yea but the streamers want them to subscribe to commercial version. I like how peacock does it, still have 4K content but have commercials in the beginning and no commercials during the movie. Max wants people to pay more for 4K which I don’t like, they use to offer it with the subscription. I agree with him, it has to be 4K or 1080 p. Netflix never gave you 4k for free with the subscription. I would like them to do what peacock is doing
i'm lowkey wish for these streaming services to fail.
Services may not have to bundle if for example, a service would be $7.99 a month, theIr yearly rate would be $79.99. If they could cut the yearly rate in half that would help.
The economy is causing churning. Why pay around 15$ a month per service when I can pick and choose month to month what shows I would like to watch by getting a certain service. I’ll pay for one or 2 before I keep anymore that I’ll only watch a movie or 2 a month on
I need a bundle of everything, one of every single streaming company in one bundle
The problem is that there are too many streaming services. Why keep a service when there is nothing left to watch
I guarantee the streamers will try things like: more annual pricing, more bundles, a "resubscribe" fee if you cancel and then resubscribe, contract pricing (must subscribe for three months to get some intro pricing) and other things like that.
So basically, if people subscribe to a bundle of subscriptions they’re more likely to continue their subscriptions than if they were subscribed to multiple individual subscriptions *and* people are less willing to accept higher subscription rates for ad-free streaming…
So essentially people are just going back to cable 🤷🏽♂️😂
Yeah, does who have the money can say whatever they want about this.
Churn baby Churn !!
It should be 100%
I’m all for bundles but not with commercials
I would sign up for a master bundle at $35/month!
The only reason I have Amazon Prime is for The Boys and Fallout.
Only one I keep is peacock because of wwe ples.
Maybe they should give a discount or grandfather customers the longer the account is active.
Makes total sense. Only very few people actually have that many streaming app at a time
I think this is great because it shows the value if having consistently good shows, to try and stretch the churn cycles
Uh oh! What a fenomenal sound that was.
When I work at Verizon bank in the day churn was big thing .. To offer customers something to stay or credit to extend your contract etc.. So I'm not surprised by streaming falling into the same issues
I miss cable.
It still exists
How do you just do more premium content? It's the audience who ultimately decides what premium content is. And it's usually much more expensive than other content. That would really drive the prices up.
The way I see it, unless we get the bundle to end all bundles, every rational user is going to churn more or less.
And admit it to yourself or not, deep down y'all know that giving up on physical media was an extremely bad idea for movie and "TV" series fans.
I "churn" on a regular basis, currently unsubscribed from Disney and don't see anything to bring me back in a long time. Right now only have Max for HOTD. I think the answer will be the weekly live events. For example once WWE moves to Netflix then I don't see myself churning Netflix anymore.
Cable is so good. I may not be able to watch what I wanna watch or the latest shows episode then and there. But I always can watch something new or something I enjoyed before. Not including sports (all I see on the sports channels here is Indias cricket matches that they won)
Knowing.... ... is half the battle. G I Joooooooooooooe.....
That’s just cable
Exactly and I dropped cable back in 2002. I've never gone back
If you want to keep people subscribed, you must create habits. A single series at a time, with six to eight, thirty minutes long episodes , most of them mediocre will not do the job. You can binge it over the weekend and then forget it ever existed.
About to get MAX for a month for HOTD.
I only use Max And Amazon
DVDs amd physical media is always better and always will be you can't beat that . Both party are happy with it they get 30$ for one dvd 📀 its more sustainable than digital streaming . also streaming is very boring now and its not sustainable either . Its on the brink of collapse it inevitable they go back to cable and physical media it's more financially stable.
Churning is a waste
I don’t think it helps that movies and series jump streaming services unless they were made for that service. If Disney plus doesn’t have a new show to watch I know I can go back and watch classic Disney movies, Pixar etc and have them be on that service. What’s the point in keeping Paramount Plus when mission impossible is on another service or Max when the WB movie you want to watch is on another service.
Have they had Any discussions on rotten tomatoes changing how ppl view the audience scores on the website???
The master bundle is cable
I thought everybody did this. There's no streamers that I want to keep year round. Usually after a month or so I'm all caught up bored. So I move on to the next one. I keep Hulu because it's only $12 a year at xmas and Amazon for deliveries.
Oh no the customers are screwing over big corporations. They're just playing the game well.
They will make it so ur signing up for 12 months
Theirs some people don't check out the whole library of stuff or really care which is ashame. People that do check out yhe library of things don't do a bunch of churning. Just seeing one show until its over a season is dumb
Churning is not going to stop, because each service offers so much. Unless you need to make content out of any of the shows, no one needs to watch everything as soon as it comes out. The whole FOMO or being left out of the social media conversation, is not enough for most to go out of their way to subscribe to everything.
I figured that the success of Netflix's 'Wednesday' and 'Squid Game' can be partly attributed to FOMO.
Contracts / commitments (albeit with perks like discounted rates, etc) incoming
To everything churn, churn, churn
There is a season churn, churn, churn
And a time to every purpose under Heaven
10:35 It will resemble a Spotify tailored specifically for the industry.
I think it's about Givin people more bang for their buck... get more for what you pay for
I'm guilty. I only subscribed to Max last month to watch the documentary "Moviepass Moviecrash." Once I saw it, I canceled it a few days later.
Let me introduce you to contracts. 3/6/12 month tiers?
Will Disney, Netflix, max, etc, become audible
ICQ Messenger... then there was the world of AOL.
Let’s face it everybody’s turning for Adam Webb on Netflix
I’ve haven’t canceled any of my streamers
Look how Dazn do there payment tiers
if the add fees for returning, this going to be bad
I signed up to all of these day one and I’ve never canceled any of them. Too much of a pain in the ass to Cancel and resubscribe constantly. They all are pretty consistent and having new shows drop and are worth keeping at least of my opinion.
😂😂😂😂
This good according to Nielsen media data
Did he just wind up making cable again?
I won't quit Netflix because of all the variety and also because they take chances put on risky films and shows basically they not pussies
John be talkin' bout masterbundling
Is it me or did he just describe cable?
Masterbundle=cable
Guilty
Only chumps stay committed to a steaming service. I unsubscribe all the time. Netflix is trash,
