It's crazy how much Hollywood has changed. 5 years ago there were 6 major studios, now just 4. Imagine what it will look like in 10 years. 😬
I doubt we'll see a signfiicant level of additional consolidation among the 4 (assuming this goes through).
At worst you'd see companies like Apple, Amazon, and Netlfix buying a studio, but that wouldn't reduce the number of studios.
With people changing how they consume media, 6 was probably too many to be profitable.
I really want Paramount Global to be merged/bought by with Sony and Appolo
But then Star Trek becomes a Sony property 😢
I know people said they don’t want to buy Sony to buy it but would you rather all of Paramount go under?
No dude we rather want sky dance to buy it or if nothing happens then Warner brothers. But Skydance would be preferred
Who's "we" lol?
@@ChristianJ18 There is no real guarantee that Skydance could keep this company afloat.
@@mutalix are you a human?
@ChristianJ18
I hope so lol, I was just wondering who you meant by we
halo and morbius writers are gonna get along pretty well in their new writer's broom closet.
Focus Features is subsidary of Universal Picturers "Comcast".
Sony could use paramount for mature content.
Sony already does mature content
Valiant comics has dealings with Paramount and Sony so this is interesting
I thought I read somewhere that if Sony Pictures gets acquired by somebody else, all the rights to Spiderman revert to Marvel. I think it would be worth it still for Sony to get Paramount. Spiderman might have diminishing returns.
Sony could put all the film, music, & TV operations under the Paramount division. Then have the Sony branding strictly electronics. Columbia Pictures, a division of Paramount Pictures. Columbia Records, a division of Paramount Pictures.
Spiderman in New York. TMNT in New York. Whaddya gonna do? 🤑
Spiderverse vs Mutant Mayhem
1 billion here we might come
All these mergers just to keep up with Disney and control the Streaming war.
Sony content added to Paramount+ Marvel Sony films and AMC content would help skyrocket that!
As a freelancer who works with paramount these mergers are hurting the industry for employees,
I guess we can expect Paramount movies to be even less reliably enjoyable.
Shame Paramount not bought MGM years a go before Amazon did. Then MGM has partner to release there movies because there always search partners.
Paramount+ ain’t gonna get shut down now Sony would have a streamer that they could add all their stuff to and it’ll be even better than ever
True, but wasn't Paramount+ one of the main reasons Paramount was losing money?
Streaming platforms seem to burn alot of cash, maybe except for the top 2, even then they sometimes lose cash too.
Sony realized this and became an "arms dealer" renting out their content to the other streamers, good idea imo, how many streaming platforms would the average consumer sign up for anyway?
@@mutalixparamount + has almost 80 million subscribers. Adding Sony would really help. I think the streamer is a big part of Sony being interested. The platform is already there
@@mutalix Paramount+ has already gone through the teeting phase of scaling to profitability. They aren't far from being profitable. To shut them down now would be a regretable mistake.
Sony made their way being an arms dealer because they had no choice, but with an established streaming service, that they could bolster with Sony Pictures TV/Movies and Crunchyroll Anime, they'd be foolish to shutdown Paramount+.
People act as this would be like Sony creating a new streaming service. Paramount+ is the 4th largest streaming service and Amazon's numbers are super misleading. So you could argue that they're proabbly 3rd behind Netflix and Max.
the problem with that logic is the reason sony sold its services like crackle is cause they didn't want to compete in streaming i think theyll shutter Paramount+ sony was the one of the first to realize its better to distribute to service than to run one which just burns money its why netflix isnt reporting sub numbers Paramount + along with Peacock are the weakest
@@Calirex01 Crackle wasn't well established. They would lose billions trying to establish it. P+ is already established. 71 million subscribers and growing. How many did Crackle have?
26B is a done deal because money matters and ALOT of people will become rich.
Spider-Man Vs TMNT, all my money for that.
No way they are going to leave that 26B deal.
Didn’t fox under Disney just release poor things?
It was released through Searchlight Pictures but yeah it’s a subsidiary
I hope Sony buy it
Why so you can pay $40/month on streaming 😂😂
I hope so too
I hope you’re wrong and I thought the opposite if Sony acquired Paramount, I thought they would keep Paramount+ open as a place to put all of their media. They could also do something where they pair Paramount+ with their PlayStation subscribers as a way to boost numbers
8:54 focus is a subsidiary of Comcast/Universal
I do wonder what the Apollo part of the deal is gonna lead too.
They'll own CBS since Sony can't. They will also have a minority share of Paramount Global, that they can option to Sony in 5-10-15 years if Sony wants full ownership.
It's going to happen.
So that means Iron-Man 1&2 are Sony movies now?
I've said it recently, but Spiderman will never come back to Marvel if this happens. Prove me wrong Marvel please🤞
It was NEVER going to back Marvel anyway.
i think that sony make it run ass a studie by it self when they own them it is stupid to not do it
Is it really necessary for them to get bought? Isnt paramount doing well?
Paramount is not doing well
They have a massive amount of debt, for which they only way they could survive would be a loan and their current debt has already been marked as junk... Any rate they would get would be high interest with serious clauses for return. It's not a feasible solution. So they have to sell to resolve the debt.
There are few companies in the position to buy the studio. Apple is in the midsts of an antitrust lawsuit from the government. Amazon just bought MGM.
Netflix or WB are the only two other realistic options. Maybe Microsoft, but that would be a serious departure from what they know. Google could also be an option, but also a departure.
@@luxurybuzz3681 i thought their recent movies such as the Sonic franchise were very profitable....
@@luxurybuzz3681 i thought their recent franchises such as sonic werw doing really well
Poolman is really flying under the radar.
I think Apple buying them could be the best outcome. Especially if they merge Paramount+ with Apple TV+. Maybe we would even get more high quality Star Trek like Picard 3 or Strange New Worlds.
My favorite Sony item is the PlayStation two
Nothing wrong with reviving IPs. Just as long as IPs are also being done simultaneously.
FCC you know what to do....
now, where is CMA and FTC
this is gonna be the 2nd worst merger ever this should not happen
Either way, paramount needs to merge. They are bad financially....
well your right but it should not be sony it should be a different studio like i don't know lionsgate
If Paramount decided to out alone Sony's offer in two and half years would be 26 Million.
I care
26 billions offer with debt or without the debt?
With debt
Maybe Apple is the best choice because then Paramount stays open and keeps making properties
Sony stole my movies I had on psn account. I don’t watch paramount and never will now. Sony steals from their own customers.
"Stole" is a strong word. Please expound.
What does that have to do with this
Was Hope for Apple to jump in
The exclusive window closed for SkyDance but any company can put in a bid for it. So Apple could still do it though, personally, I wouldnt want that because a lot of their films go straight to streaming and refuse to release on physical media
You right ..Still enjoy physical media myself
John is rude
So that means Iron-Man 1&2 are Sony movies now?
And Hulk. But not yet, they have to actually buy the company first and there are many walls to break down before that happens.
@@adavidtoremember The Incredible Hulk was made by Universal. Maybe Paramount was involved but I know the Universal logo played in the opening credits in the film alongside the Marvel logo
These films were only distributed by paramount. Paramount had no control . Marvel just made a 5 picture with paramount to distribute some movies after it was acquired by disney
