"Play something beatles-y" *plays iron maiden on a clean channel*
Really happy with how this video came out - at last we get a good Vox AC tone on CZcams!! Cheers guys
CaptAnderton Is there something different about the camera you use now? Recently it seems like everything moves kind of unnaturally. I know this can happen with some HD stuff
Please make more blues lessons
802blues is right Cap10. Rory Gallagher is the reason Brian May uses a VOX AC30. When Rory was in Taste, Brian asked how he got his tone. Rory explained it was the boost he used in conjunction with an AC30. Rory moved on to other amps when he went solo, but his sound in Taste inspired The Edge who till this day uses an AC30.
***** It's exactly the opposite, all the old vids were "unnatural" and the new ones are much more fluid and natural with more frames per second. Chances are you're so used to tv/cinema/30fps vids that you find real movements on screen "strange".
CaptAnderton The Strat sounded better through that amp in my opinion
I think some of you guys are being really unfair on the reverb - OK, its just a fairly cheap internal digital reverb but it sounds OK & lets not forget, the whole amp costs less than the Strymon Bigsky reverb pedal!! If you don't like the internal reverb just turn it off!
CaptAnderton Well my house costs less than a Strymon Bigsky so that isn't saying much. HAHA
CaptAnderton hey cap, any thoughts on the marshall MG range? specifically the 2x12 combo? not much coverage on youtube or anywhere else so i was hoping you could give me some advice, thanks!
CaptAnderton Points in favor of digital reverb:
* Nearly all reverb pedals are digital, and people like those just fine.
* Every cheap tube amp should have digital reverb thrown in because why not?
* The spring unit in my AC30 sounds nice, but its weak (like a lot of non-Fender reverbs) and only adds a little extra depth to the sound. To get a more noticeable effect, I'd have to use a pedal anyway.
Joe Bonamassa uses a boss digital reverb pedal........A properly set reverb is what's important
CaptAnderton Actually, I like the digi-reverb better than my spring reverb on the ac15, and this is after I put in an accutronics tank! I am a big fan of this amp!
Great video - gonna grab one of these tomorrow - Played it at the guitar store today and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I'm using a $500 pair of open back headphones and an external amp dac this is the best sounding demo of this amp I've heard on CZcams so far and especially when you hooked it into the external cab my god my wallet cried.
when you hear captain start playing you just know hes never gonna disappoint!!! amazing playing
good amp sounds great
DeaaEldeen Zahalka Cheers mate!
This is my favorite vid that you guys have done. Great playing and great sounding amp.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video! What a great wee amp! Plus it's a real joy to hear it played by such great guitarists! Well done guys!
Hmmm... Just watched it again... and I agree with myself!!! ;)
Yeah me three 😁
That review video was brilliant! Best 18 min of entertainment I've had on CZcams in a good long while! Thanks to you both :)
I got this amp for Christmas. It's absolutely amazing. I wouldn't trade it for anything in that price range. It responds extremely well to pedals, and gets pretty loud!
I am blown away by this amp. I've always loved Vox anyway. But you guys are right. There is just something going on with the midrange that makes this amp irresistible to my ears. Great review. Even greater amp.
These experienced playas preferred it to the Fender Deluxe Reverb 1968 reissue costing almost 2x more? czcams.com/video/8bYB43PLMJ0/video.html
Famous blues players who used ac30: Rory Gallagher
Bapalapa30 This, was surprised they totally forgot about Rory
Bapalapa30 and Rory's tone was EPIC too :-)
Damn right it was! Although he often used fender amps and sometimes orange. But his tone never really seemed to change no matter which amp he used. Tone is in the fingers no doubt
Bapalapa30 Rory Gallagher was the one who gave Brian May the idea to use an AC30 and a Treble Booster.
Bapalapa30 Rory - I saw him play at the fender stratocaster 40th aniversary show in manchester. Half way through he played his telecaster
I am just glad you folks do videos it really enjoy a real down to earth instrument review, and the manufacturers should pay you you have sold me.
Re: Blues players for vox
Rory Gallagher played Ac30s his whole career
Got some great tone
Its exactly what I'm looking for.
Great demo guys,
Thanks,
Mars
Love being able to hear shredding and rocking from Chappers as well as some bluesy clean playing from the Capt. Makes for a well-rounded review.
Sweet. I bought two and have them running stereo for about six years now, no treble booster unfortunately, but my jubilee gold BMG signature sounds amazing through this. I went with Vox ac10’ s because of this video. I have not been disappointed.
I think I may have to try one of these.
Thanks for showing it to us.
Good review guys. I think you make some honest, useful and funny reviews. Keep on the good work!
Just got this amp and all I can say is WOW! I have quite a few great Fender valve amps but the Vox AC10 may just have become my new favorite. Sounds great! When Chap says it may be the best Vox he has played, he wasn't kidding ... great job and a great sounding video...even better in person.
@Pollo Guitar Depends on what kind of music the drummer is playing. It's pretty damn loud but of course can be overpowered by stuff with more watts.
been waiting for you guys to demo the ac 10c ,and it sounds great on you tube.
I picked one of these up a couple months ago, and in 30 years of playing, it may very well be the favorite of all the amps I ever had.
Good GRIEF that sounds amazing. Played one at Guitar Center today and it sounded dope as heck. Didn't get a chance to run it very hot, so thanks for this.
Best vid you guys have done. Awesome playing and amp.
I've just been looking for a good bedroom amp, and after I listened to the first minute of this demo, I was just like... I'm getting that! Great review guys, as all ways, explaining everything to the fullest!
Louis Dale How's it working out for you at bedroom volumes?
Rory Gallagher used an ac30.
I've played an AC10 recently and it's indescribable how great it sounds, the Reverb on it didn't seem quite as strong as it does in the video, very very nice in stereo with a Princeton.
Wow, what a great sound from this little fella! You convinced me to get this for my 8yr old son just as he just started taking lessons and aspires to become Brian May. The Od sounds amazing and the reverb is decent. But just a dab will do you. Thank you for providing the a great audio demo on this! Cheers!
You're son is lucky, I was 18 when I finally got an amp this good😂
Why are there pickups on that cutting board?
Haha!
that tele is so beautiful!
thanks for your daily Hard work guys :)
I'm glad that Rob pointed out that giggable and rehearsable isn't the same, a lot of confusion about that.
hyperliteBo regardless though he was dead wrong. This amp is Class A and 10 watts. It's true that the 10 inch speaker doesn't move a lot of air, but for rehearsing in a confined space, 10 watts of Class A tube volume is plenty loud enough for most bands. Plug it into a 2x12 and you've got enough volume for pretty much anything...
I really like your videos, guys!! I bought one of these and really like it!
The idea of running it in stereo is exactly what I do. I run an ac15 and an old Marshall solid state at a much lower volume but it adds tons of bass response that I love.
Oh and for what its worth - in order to double an amps output, you have to multiply wattage by 10. So a 10 watt amp is only 1/2 as loud as a 100 watt amp, not 1/10th as loud. I love when people are shocked by how loud a 10 watt amp is.
Well it doesn't sound half as loud as a 100 watt Marshall stack, but for some reason people never realize you can use the line out and feed the same stack - and then it's half as loud! Sometimes total wattage seems to matter very little, it's more about the speaker setup being used.
I used to use ( until it died after 100,s of gigs and touring ) a Fender Champ 12 onstage and those are serious volume monsters , and I put a Celestion Greenback in it . At the loudest time onstage I had the master on the drive channel at maybe 1.5 and even then I was getting dirty looks from the rest of the band .
This is so true man a 10 watt tube amp is loud and I think you can gig with this amp and you can rehearse with it
True
review for the tube you can gig any amp, just mike it up...
CaptAnderton Really enjoyed your playing in this vid!
Yum that is one beautiful looking chapman, love guitars where you can see the real grain of the wood!!
Love the outro! xD
Great review guys!!
I just decided to pull he trigger and buy one tomorrow! Thanks guys, great review.
Awesome, love the works.... keep it up,,,,
I'm pleased you've done a review of this little Vox...Time for a brew and a 20min tea break! Ps. White Dove has become a fan favourite in the car as per my 5yr old son...Great work!
i really love the brutal vox tone, it gives such a "in your face" sound, great review!
sounds beautiful!
Captain's tone at 8:02 is making me want this amp, there's something so sweet about it!
The strat is also involved in the overall tone here imo
One of the few single 10" speaker that sounds amazing.
Great demo, great amp, i love the ML3!
maa hoo sive ! love it and love you guys !
Awesome stuff... Loved the captains whos who of riffs whilst I was growing up lol
Picked one up today. This thing loves p-90s!
Sounded outstanding!
sounds great guys ... I'm convinced
great review, thx guys
Now that's a sound. Lovely.
Love your videos! I am trying to decide between the AC10 and the AC4. You gave both solid reviews, and both sound great in your videos. I don't know if I would use the built-in reverb on the AC10, and I don't have the need for tons of volume, so I'm leaning toward the AC4, but if the sound quality of the AC10 is considerably better in the room it might be enough to go that route. What would your thoughts be on this comparison? Thanks!
I loved the sound!
Very helpful, thanks!
I just bought one of these. The 10 inch Celestion speaker in this amp sounded way bigger than the 12" Greenbacks in the AC15C1 that was sitting right next to it. I went in to the store looking to by an AC15C1 and ended up buying this. It just simply sounded better than the AC15C1!
Hey Captain, stay away from the blues more often! That was epic! So much so, I’m going to get me one of those AC10 babies! 😎👍
Iv been debating on getting a 212 for my AC10 but after seeing this it’s on its way. This is such a great amp I can’t wait to plug it into the Vox 2x12 cabs.
Great sounding amp, I might have to look into getting, I didn't mind the reverb, but that tone both clean and with gain is killer! I also liked the look of the chapman guitar.. All natural!
Good playing today Rob. Nice one!
Thinking about picking one of these up for my Les Paul!
Sound awesome. This is an incredible amp for the money
Sounds insanely great
this is fantastic, if I didn't have an AC30 already I'd probably get one of these.
everyone needs Vox in their lives, the harmonic content is just awesome on a driven AC
I'm digging it since I feel this is a good wattage for home practice and jamming
Nice! An AC4C1 on steroids:
- + air around the VX10
- + one EL84
- + usable reverb
Refreshing review ... you nailed it! Thanks!
Awesome video! goodnight guys
Rob's playing never fails to impress anew with every video. 'Run to the Hills' did catch me offguard though.
Sounded great on you tube. Fella with dreads is a pretty amazing guitar player!!
Ever since Capt got his '58 LP he seems to have rededicated himself to being a player! Sounds frickin great!
This sounds awesome...one of the best review tones ive heard 15:40
Hi captain and chappers. Loved the video. what would you recommend for home use more the vox ac 4 12 inch speaker or the ac 10. And did both amps sound much different.
I rehearse with this. To be fair, our drummer doesn’t play as loud as some, and I always use it on high gain with humbuckers. Volume has never gone above half way
Needs more miku pedal.
oh my god that punching noise jahahaha. Also really great review. Amazing amp
awesome amp! This shall be on my want list to replay my current Orange amp... Furhter more my Orange amp was the pervious one who just got revamp... sooo time for an upgrade
I bought two of these AC10's because of this video you guys. They do sound amazing in person. The sound came out great on your video by the way. I am playing a Brian may gold top and I am running the the AC10's stereo through a cheap Digitech RP 55 multi effects pedal mostly as a way to split the sound at first but now I use this pedal mostly because of the drum section and also because I have tried two other much more expensive pedals and got rid of them and kept this original RP55. I am curious because I can't make out what pedals you are using in the video but they sound great. Ironically I don't play a LOT of Queen but I absolutley love the guitar with these amps. Again what pedals are you using in the video?
ok, through the big cab this actually sounded amazing! especially with that plimsoul pedal.
You guys sold me on it, I'm gonna get one!!
You really know your fretboard man, and that's an understatement
Sounds mint with Lee playing :D
Captain, you've improved!!!!
Well done Capt...
Kicking it off with some Maiden. Rock on Rob
I got one a year ago, completely happy.
Yup, yet another knock out vid (and GREAT AMP TONE) for the Chappers and Capt'n!!
Rory Gallagher got amazing tones from ac30's, I adore his tone and playing!
Lee sounded AWESOME on this vid...!
That's definitely the best Chapman guitar I've seen so far. Love it. I think the Cap-10 would look great with a maple cap and neck.
Great video!!
Beautiful telecaster, I would love to test one of this guitars in Brazil, unfortunately we don´t have it available yet!!
I tried this recently and was blown away how good it sounded. I got a 2x12 that I like, I might have to invest in one of these as a new "head"
I am a big fan of British amplifiers, especially Vox. I was had my mind set on getting the AC4 TV but after watching this demo I think I have changed my mind.
sounds absolutely bad ass!
Oh guys it's sounding sweet as. What an amp!!
I played that amp with a 335 in Manchester and have been dreaming about this pairing ever since.
I've Always loved the Marshall tone, and the Vox is now pulling a close second.
that sounds Awesome
Great! You should make a video with the difference between this and the Ac 15!!!
This is such a fantastic video! After spending 3 hours with one the other night I snagged one! I saw that you turned gain and volume all the way up. Will continued use at that setting hurt the amp? Thanks so much!
