This was so nice, cause they respected the fact that there are many guitarist out there who are not metal-heads and are really tired of high-gain always metal oriented demos. :)
Now, if we bass players could get the same r.e.s.p.e.c.t. then there will be world peace!
NAH !!!!,
tbh I tried to play bass But could never keep tight with the Drummer so its is a skill.
I m a metal head I just got this.
how are the metal tones cause I had an old school valvetronix when they first came out and it wasn't bad
If i got this amp for good cleans would it still sound good if i plugged a distortion pedal into it
By the way, Bea's Mac crashed (Bring on the Mac hate) so we've had to use the "spoken audio" from the camera's... normal service will resume.
+Rob Chapman SACKED!! ;)
+Rob Chapman great video anyway! do you have tab for the riff at the beginning? i think its really cool
Hahahahah
+Rob Chapman Voxy Goodness! I know you guys were showing the amps range, but did you happen to try a peddle to two? I wonder how EMG's would sound through the JCM emulator setting?
Where is the chapman v? Tell me please
This video, and your looks of genuine tone satisfaction, sold me on this amp three years ago and I hunted down a used AV60. I loved it so much, I found a AV30 for home. Fantastic amps and a crying shame they don't make them any more.
"Lean on me, I'll be your affordable amp" - Chappers, 2016
I fucking love the editing, especially the sound when he puts his cup down.. Who ever is editing this they need a raise and a medal :D
Rob edits I'm pretty sure
Well, that's some comedy gold right there :D
+Thingsandstuff Nah it's someone else
+Thingsandstuff it's Rabea
+Thumbii Rory edits all the videos
The Captain's chops are getting insanely good! Long gone those days of strumming 3 chords quickly. We want to see you more playing man!! :D
I just watched this video and figured that when I watch your videos it's mostly not so much about the review itself but just being entertained by you guys and having fun watching you playing and talking about stuff :) cheers!
I've played this Amp today in our local store and I fell in love with the sound of this vox. It's so awesome to control distortion by your power of picking. Next august it's mine! I like how compressed the sound is. It's not that intrusive as for example a Marshall or a Metal amp (I like them too) more that balanced sound.
Captain's playing is amazing! It's awesome seeing how much he's progressed since he started doing these videos :)
This reminds me of the Vox Tonelab LE multi-effect floor board that I used to have. It was digital with a little glowing tube powering the whole thing so you got the best of both worlds. Add a speaker and BAM! You have this amp!
The playing on this is really exceptional guys such musical chemistry between you too and sooooo much feel !!! props guys
What a great demo of clean tones. I have never heard a Vox sound that clean and tight before. And Captain your lead has really picked up! Way to let it roll!
Consciously or not, you guys are all pushing each other to get better. I absolutely adore it, and it translates to the viewer as well. You guys are leading the movement for internet entertainment for the guitar community. So so glad you did. :)
Hands down best intro jam by you guys yet. Wow.
Love the mellow tones and that intro Jam...wow...just wow, some lovely playing from both of you guys. Could listen to that for ever in a day
More than anything, the look on your faces in this video made me seek out an AV60 online. You can't fake that expression of satisfaction. I loved it so much in the practice space that I bought an AV30, to keep at home.
Glad to see Rob's custom beauty make a return
Captain: *plays notes tastefully and in key to match the rhythm*
Chappers: *shreds like a Behemoth solo as if Captain isn't even there*
The guitar duo at the beginning is really nice. I could listen to this for hours.
nice to see rob brought back that awesome custom Ltd
Besides possibly the Victory amps, these might be the best tones you've gotten in the studio, Lee and Chappers. If I just heard the recordings here and knew nothing of the amps that were used, I would immediately assume they were high-end tube amps. Well done, Vox. You might be getting my business here before long...
I played a whole concert with the Av 15 at a small bar. It worked very well. It was a Doors tribute band. That little amp is loud for small gigs. I love it!!
Lee's playing is so amazing, he keeps getting better and better!
Love it when they play the blues. Guys play off each other really well. Great little amp too!
Is it me or does Captain Lee's playing get better every time I see him? Some tasty licks in there Cap!
+Tom Holmes Cheers Tom - its being surrounded by lots of better guitar players all the time!!
+CaptAnderton I'm pretty young. And sometimes it's overwhelming to play with better musicians, but now that I've done it I've gotten all lot better.
+Tom Holmes its not just you! he has a nice modest way of playing that really fits the clean sounds.
He is tutored by Justin guitar!
@@HalvLion doesnt it have a output for that on the back ???
I bought the av60 a year ago. I absolutely love it,
Rob's lead on the intro is epic of course.. as usual, but man.. CAP10 LEE!!! you put some serious soul into that stuff.. Job well done.!
Some of the best jamming and tones i've heard from you guys. Thanks for a great vid!!
I'd pay for an ep of just you two playing blues for half an hour :-)
Higgins2001 haha me too brother
Yes, thank you!
I tried an AV30 for about an hour today. I was actually really impressed with the built in effects. Very easy to use, and they sound great. I'll have to get a footswitch to turn each on and off instead of seperate chorus, delay, reverb in the effects loop. I'd feel comfortable recording with them, they don't sound or feel artificial nor cheesy. I do have pedals for more "speciality" reverbs and delays that I'll probably use with it, but still, the built in effects offer a very strong starting point for sculting tones. And the actual preamp and power amp stages sound amazing.
You know it's a great amp when rob starts tapping
This was the most enjoyable youtube video i have ever seen🤘🏼👍😜
Keep it up guys!
I've been thinking about getting one of these ever since I saw the NAMM video, but I kept wishing there was a good demo, And then boom! I wake up to find this! Thanks!
Best Cap playing in a long time.
nice to see the ltd that you modded is still being worked :)
Glad to see others having as much fun as I am with these amps.
Great to see you guys together again.
Loving the finish on the Ghost Fret BTW
I used one of the 15 watt ones live at my old school twice with a real drummer and everything no mics and it worked just fine
Nice rhythm riffing Rob! I used to think playing the lead lines was the more difficult. After 2 years of this wonderful guitar journey, and trying to record my own backing tracks, did I realize the more difficult part is the rhythm. Thinking up chord progressions, strumming/plucking patters, etc. is far more difficult-- yet gets little attention. It is easy to string along almost any notes from the pentatonic scale [provided the correct key is used] and sound like you know what you are doing-- I know I did.
Hey Rob I would just like to say thanks for the amount of effort you put in to the videos on this channel, I originally found you through the band Dorje while I was surfing for new music to listen to, great stuff there btw, but once I stumbled onto this channel I began browsing through various videos, and you've helped me learn a lot about different products that I have now purchased. Keep it up man!
Actually really enjoyed listing to you two jam along! Really great sound from that Vox. Thanks again good video.
I have an AV60 and I love it. Very versatile.
what possible reason could anyone have for throwing dislikes on this video? These amps are amazing
+Ian Wrigley Its probably because they didn't like Robs hair, or my voice, or the fact that I only ever play blues, or something really important like that ;)
Internet at its finest. The old "one nipple larger than the other 2/10 would not bang" trolls
Thanks for all your demos it really helps us to decide on equipment . Thanks a bunch
i love the captain's playing these days! in these demos it really sounds like 2 different approaches to playing the guitars
I think you just sold me on this amp. Great sounds. Thanks.
Edit: just ordered mine.
And now, what do you think about it?
Captain, you are sounding great with the Hybrid Picking, keep it up its hard at first but you can do so much with it... Cheers.
+Buddy Martin Did I do hybrid picking?? Woo hoo - I tried & I was rubbish - like a new born deer trying to walk!!
+CaptAnderton Hi Lee, I was wondering if the amp came with an fx loop?
thats A fake account
Alexander Kundert no its not click on the icon
O have the AV60 and I love It. Must say I have never owned a Full Valve amp. The VSF5 adds a tap tempo on the delay. The delay has a short time, but it's a great slap back and short ambience delay. O usually use the cleans and crunches channels. The bright/fat and the reactor switches realy makes the difference making the sound come alive. The modulation effect actualy has 1 type of Chorus until 10 o clock, another one until 2 o clock and some kind of a vibrato until the end. Loving that amp.
Picked up one of these today. Cheers for the video guys, this thing is amazing!
Way better than the CODE from the sounds of it. Good amp
Love the sounds of these amps. But am I the only one who wishes these would come out as heads and then you buy your own cabs?
You can plug them in a cab and make them work as head.
Best jam sesh I've ever heard in Andertons hands down
great playing too guys ,love these videos you always give a non biased opinion ,i got to have one of these amps now
Loving Lee's T-shirt.
Rob please do the ''Buy a guitar and relic it in some weird way'' competition with Lee!
I loved that backing track, I just had to run a get my guitar and learn that before watching the rest. Thanks for that one.
That first Jam put me in mind of some of the bluesy/Jazy sabbath songs. Great stuff!
You guys are great!
+Brock20s You're great ;-)
A blindfold digital vs analog effects challenge!
Sweet. Loved the review. I just grabbed the av15 today. sounds killer.
I'm very thankful for you guys. I was a shredder in the 80's, got married in 2000, lost touch with the guitar for the most part for years. Now I'm playing again with my church's contemporary / rock praise and worship team. I enjoy and appreciate the reviews you do (and also Rob's videos on playing the guitar). Informative and entertaining (you guys crack me up!). If either of you are ever in the Nashville TN area, I would like to shake your hand and thank you in person. I LOVE the Chapman guitar line, and am seriously considering purchasing one the next time I buy a guitar (I just bought a brand new Shawbucker Fender Strat and I love it). Anyway, keep up the good work gentlemen. Thanks again. :)
feel nauseous how you "found" praise and worship through marriage.makes me want to stay miles
and miles further away from that "holy" union designed in hell by the guy who designed hell.
crapman guitars are a low end korean line designed and built by them.rob just pretends he
designs things to keep the swelling of his head at maximum capacity but he absolutely does not.
5:07 what mic did you use to record the sound of that breaking coffee mug ... it really picked up those glassy tones well!
Sleipnir Blue you are fucking stupid, thats edited..
Yoeri De Zomer Zomer someone doesn't know what a joke is.
@@immanuelbaptistchurch4327Yeah I dont remember that reaction, looks pretty scumbagish indeed, im sorry.
Do a video - vox av60 vs the real amps from different pre amp circuits blindfolded so you have to guess which is which.
Dermot Gillespie I second this!
Good idea. Do fender tone master vs deluxe too
They sound great! Thanks for starting with clean tones.
The intro jam was amazing! Sounded even better when I flipped my headphones :)
+Mika Tarkela (Floge) House of Broken Love - Great White!
I like your new hair, chappers
anyone else hear Stone Sour - Bother, in the jamming backing riff?
Real nice video guys! Even with the audio kinda fudged I can tell those
amps were sounding good. I'm so convinced by your reactions that I'm
going to buy one. BTW... I really love the sound of Lee's Cap10 model
guitar with those Seymour Duncan's! Thanks for all of the great reviews!
Really loving them beautiful tones! Loving the playing too keep it up chaps!!!
19:51 I'M THROWING MONEY AT THE SCREEN BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING. PLEASE HELP. But seriously, these sound fantastic, can't believe how cheap they are for the amount of options and tone they give you.
I really like the input jack placement on that Ghost Fret.
+Anthony Norton It's an OUTPUT jack, not input.
+howlingmine Are you shitting me?
+Joe Jenkins Shitting you about what?, it's an OUTPUT jack.
+howlingmine yeah I got that. just thought it was kind of lame to correct him on it.
Great to see Rob using the mod challenge video Tele. Badass axe, that one.
Captain, your soloing in this vid was awesome! Keep it up! :)
Do a Shootout This Vs The Fender Bassbreaker vs the Mashall DSL series
That would be cool, dsl40 vs bb45
I AGREE, OR YOU COULD DO THE DSL 15 VS THE BASSBREAKER 15 OR EVEN THE DSL 5 VS THE BASSBREAKER 007, OR DO ALL 3! ANYTHING EXCEPT THE BASSBREAKER 18/30 BECAUSE THAT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE OTHER BASSBREAKERS, THE 18/30 IS SUPPOSE TO SOUND LIKE 2 OLD FENDER AMPS FROM THE PAST, ONE BEING THE BASSMAN I THINK AND CANT REMEMBER THE OTHER
MB215 The caps lock key is the one above the shift..
How's the volume on the 30? Enough for a bar gig without a PA?
buy a 60, it won't let you down
ZMG...... That Ghost Fret! I want one so badly, just to bad its not available in South Africa. I know this video is review about the Vox amp, but when you picked up that guitar i went jelly. Keep up the epic reviews guys, and yea that Vox amp is SICK as well.
The Captain's playing is extremely praiseworthy. Love the tasty blues licks☺. Could we have a store walkthrough please🙏.
What's your favourite Pokémon?
This or the new Marshall CODE? Can you make a versus video?
+Nunu Imak yeah i was thinking the same
That jam in the beginning is lovely
I just got an AV30. I’ve wanted one for a long time, but I had to be content with a Peavey Backstage Plus and Vox Tonelab EX modeling board because they were cheap.
I played through an AV15 years back and loved it. Having owned the AV30 for a few days now, I can say it’s absolutely amazing. The sound is very good, and I’ve found that when you select an amp setting that isn’t quite right, it just means that you need to mess with the bias an reactor settings to tighten or loosen it up.
It’s an extremely responsive amp and all of the controls mean something. Plus, it’s much less to fiddle with when compared to the Tonelab EX. I love it.
Hair looks good man.
+Joe Jackson Tone hair.
Probably he went too hardcore one day and the amp just blasted 3/4 of it off his head.
Lee is always plugged into Daddy Bear.
+Rogue Jellybean They don't call me Goldilocks for nothing!
+Junk Morgan HAH! I've never noticed that before.
Northernmight haha
i own the av60 papabear and i love the tone out of this amp amazing and rob and captain great job demoing this amazing amp awesome
Liked Captain Lee's t-shirt so much I went online and ordered one for myself :)
Do the bass breaker series next
Yes, and do a comparison of the 45 against you-know-what....
I was all set for getting a Marshall Code but then I see this...
Same here
One year later, if anyone of see this can any of you tell what the choice has been?
I hope it’s not too late but do not... I repeat DO NOT buy a code 50 I bought one and it sh*t itself within two months
Tiger can't you even read? He said he did not buy a Code he bought this the Vox AV amp and it shit itself in 2 months.
I love how you brought back the TE 202 you modded, very surprised the Captain didn't use his strat with the mid circuit boost.
Captain, your playing was awesome in this video!
I'm buying, so my question is AC 10 or AV 30 ??
$$$$
Funk DeMann ac10
Funk DeMann if you can afford it.
Funk DeMann if you still care
Almost sounded like a pink floyd solo when The Captain started playing
I'm glad I'm not the only one that heard that
I heard also some Judah's Priest Rocka Rolla days...
I just ordered one tonight. Can't wait to see how it sounds with all my strats and teles.
That jam at the end was just awesome! :)
Seems like they sound good enough, but Vox are definitely being naughty here somewhere. The specs on their site say that the "60W" version draws 36W from the mains (and the other models are similar). So...either they've cracked the whole "free energy" thing, or they're telling porkies.
I suspect it's very much like the "600W" computer speakers you see, which are rated using PMPO and are actually about 15W RMS. Similarly, I'd guess that these amps are no more than 20-25W in reality.
+digiscream It's perfectly normal, and indeed more meaningful to quote power consumption of the product in a quiescent state. So VOX's specs are correct.
I suspect that it has to do with the (most likely) Class D amplification - which is quite efficient (more volume, less power draw). I'd have to guess that the idea is that with the more efficient amplification stage, they've labeled it with the "equivalent" wattage, rather than the amount of wattage it's actually consuming. So whether it's misleading or not, I suppose, depends on whether you're more interested in a rating based on how loud it is or based on how much power it draws from the wall.
Yep. Reasons solid state amps aren't as loud as tube: Stated watts are "Peak", a fraction of actual continuous watts or "RMS". Solid state amps hard clip, meaning they compress sooner and more noticeably at lower levels. Side note, lots of cheap solid state amps use/used less efficient speakers giving less volume at the same wattage.
Rob did you cut your dreads off with a bread knife? Red Dwarf style.
actually he first undid the dreads, then just cut his hair
That intro jam was heavenly.
I bought one of Vox's Valvetronix amp like 7-8 years ago and it has served me well for so long but these next iterations of the "valve reactor" technology and having a 12AX7 for the preamp AND power amp seems to create a very sweet tone.
How to sound like Nick Jonas without breaking the ... eardrums
Joseph O'Neil you’re in luck
katana or this?
kitun667 right?? Help please...
If you still care I would personaly go for this one cause it has a very warm tone
I swear I'm torn between the two, someone has to weigh in on this.
@@mofomartianp the AV series everytime - they are superb value for money and make the Katana sound like the solid state amp it is.
This. Although the katana sounds good and has more effects etc, it IS and sounds like a SS. This has 2 valves and sounds like a valve/tube Amp.
Amazing video per the usual guys! Lee, I think your shirt is really funny, but I would say you are not giving yourself enough credit. Over the last year or so I think your playing has gotten really good. I watch all your videos and always wait for you to jam-out blues style. Maybe because I am a blues player myself and a sucker for good blues musicians, but I really enjoy your playing and cannot wait to hear more!
That LTD guitar and the vox amp covers just about everything you'd need.
