  • In this video I'll be showing how to paint the Primaris Chaplain from the Indomitus box. The chaplain is a return to the old style chaplain and looks superb with his bionic head and a huge amount of cool details on him. If you like the older Primaris Chaplain the video for him will be going up in the coming weeks.

    Very nice ! Your work always motivates me to continue painting and expanding my collection. I've been coming to the realization that if I want to build 'modern ' marine forces, I need to decide whether it will be primaris or 'regular ' marine squads. Using both types in same force leaves something to be desired,...

    Great video, definitely giving this a go! I was wondering about highlighting this.. I'm painting the armour in Macragge Blue, would you highlight the armour before all the base layers? Or get all the base layers down and then highlight?

    • @BrushandBoltgun
      @BrushandBoltgun  Před 3 lety

      Cheers Motherfungler, very much appreciated! :) I always try and get everything based and shaded before adding highlights, etc. I have a horrible tendency to get colours on the wrong section and it's frustrating to do that over highlights. I know a lot of people who prefer to paint one colour at a time though, so I think it's just personal choice. :)

    I have a question regarding shades, due to partial blindness i have trouble with some colour tones,
    What is the difference between the shades, ive used agrax and nuln oil interchangeably and cant see a difference once its on the model, id like to know as what i see isnt what others see

    • @BrushandBoltgun
      @BrushandBoltgun  Před 2 lety

      Hi Bigman, no problem, sing out if you have any questions, happy to help out! :)
      Nuln Oil is a matt black shade, so when it dries in recesses it'll dry black, and over surfaces (such as metallics) it will dull them down and give them a matt finish but still allow the shine of the metallic to come through. I tend to use it primarily on silvery/steel metallic colours.
      Agrax Earthshade is a matt dark brown shade, so when it dries in recesses it will leave a dark brown shade. Over metallics and other colours it will give them a brown hue, and can darken them a lot. I tend to use it to shade light browns, do oily runs and to shade gold. It's also ace for adding grime to things. So if you have an old piece of metal work, once the Nuln Oil is applied and dried, the Agrax can be used to add a grimy brown tint to the surface and recesses.
      Let me know if that's not clear and I'll clarify. :)

      Cheers Thanasis, I use three brushes usually, a new(ish) Citadel Medium Layer brush - they have a great point-, an Mediu Layer Brush with no point (for doing bigger areas) and an Army Painter Wargamer: Character brush as they're really thin and have an awesome point. :)
