How to paint a Primaris Chaplain

  • In this video I'll be painting up the original Primaris Space Marine Chaplain. With a different look to the more traditional Indomitus Chaplain, this one has a lot of great features that really stand out. With the skull topped Crozius and leather long coat or robe, it really is a distinctive look.

    Watching your videos is making me yearn harder and harder to start collecting a Space Marine army again, despite the cost involved. You just hit the spot every time for me, and it's getting harder to resist starting an Astartes force for myself, at the cost of putting aside my fantasy "Company of Oddfellows" for a while :-D Truly beautiful Lamenters Chaplain, Rob. You even make a chapter with a shady history and reputation for "salvaging" new armour/weaponry from the wrecks of other Chapters' ships and outposts look tempting to collect :-)

      @BrushandBoltgun  Před 3 lety

      Sorry Paul! 🤣🤣 It’s the new miniatures, I swear. Over the past couple of years I can only think of a handful I’ve not liked. Thankfully I’ve restrained myself and not gone wild on releases or it’d be bread and water for meal times! 🤣
      The marine stuff is stunning though. 😁 Resiiiist! Resiiiist!

      @@BrushandBoltgun I know exactly what you mean, as I've painted so many Primaris Marines for other people lately, I just sit amazed at how good they are when compared to the old RBT01 figures from way back when Rogue Trader introduced us to the WH40k Universe :-) I've built a pictorial file of almost 900 Astartes Chapters for people who use my painting service to pick a chapter scheme from (I point blank REFUSE to paint U****marines, as I'm sick to death of them always being shown in photo's and lauded as a chapter that epitomizes what an Astartes should be.) A lot of the images are from the WH40k "canon," while the rest are from homebrew sites, and much more interesting/challenging to paint :-) I just try my best not to fall into 40k again, as I would either go bankrupt or insane trying to paint up all the chapters I want to collect for myself :-D I love hw you paint the Lamenters and Flesh Tearers, as they are both pretty dark Blood Angels successor chapters in their own right, and so much more interesting than most of the others. Then again, I LOVE the White Scars and the Dark Angels, so can't complain if someone wants them painted by me :-D Happy days ahead for me, as I just got asked to paint a homebrew squad or two by a customer, so I get to challenge my painting skills at quartering a colour scheme :-)

Trying to decide what warband schemes to do with three of them (one is being done in the same style of Death Guard as the ones I paint for the channel). :)

      I mainly use a Citadel Medium Layer brush for the most part, with an Army Painter Wargamer: Character brush to do any detail work. They've always done a decent job for me, the MLB has a good point on it, and the APWC is fine enough to do the details. :)

    Oh 2 more questions. Do you feel it’s necessary to drill through the SIDES of the bolsters also? Already drilled the ends.
    I want to prime with rustoleum matte primer. Any thoughts?

    • @BrushandBoltgun
      @BrushandBoltgun  Před 3 lety

      I do drill through the sides too, if the drill bit is the same size as the hole it's a lot easier to do than the end of the barrel. :)
      I've never used rustoleum matte primer. Citadel, Army Painter and Halfords primers I know about though! :)

  • @mightbeapersonmaybe8379
    @mightbeapersonmaybe8379 Před 2 lety +1

    Awesome work! How do you get so little paint on your brushes? I can't get my paint out of the pots without getting quite a bit on my brush which makes detail work hard

    • @BrushandBoltgun
      @BrushandBoltgun  Před 2 lety

      Cheers Mightbeaperson, very much appreciated. :) I use a wet palette (there's a video of the one I use on my channel - it's a chippy tub, kitchen towel and grease proof paper). I have an old brush I use to get paint from the pots and put onto the palette, then use the brush I need to get that paint from the palette - makes it a lot easier to get small amounts. :)
