The Unexpected Benefits of Confinement

  • The year 2020 gave those of us in Spain a blessing in disguise during the spring confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic. Find out how my life changed over these two months, and what you come to value on a mandatory hermit's journey.
You and I have both seen our lives twisted down unexpected paths by the arrival of COVID-19 at the end of 2019.
At the beginning of this year, we were all making new resolutions or returning to our old post-holiday lives as one does.
Two months later, it felt like we were living in a movie, and when we heard the declaration of confinement that Friday at work, and had our last beer together until what ended up being May, we knew this would be big.
When I stepped into the empty downtown street after a week holed up in my apartment to go wait in line for the grocery store, I realized how big it was.
We lived a confinement period that was unprecedented and will never be lived again. It was long enough for all of us to experience highs and lows and lots of uncertainty.
But there are things I will miss. And knowing we as a whole will never experience this again makes me miss them even more.
You must appreciate all good things while you have them. In this video, I'll talk to you about how confinement changed social obligations, pollution, and politics. You'll see what it was like to work from home and how my relationship with my neighbors was renewed. You'll get yet another look into life lived in Spain.
Thank you so much for tuning in to de americanas maneras.
Did you live a confinement? Have any positive changes come into your life due to the situation around COVID-19? Let us know by leaving a comment. :)
Now that we are out and about, follow me @deamericanasmaneras ( / deamericanasmaneras ) to see what life around Seville and the rest of Spain is like post-confinement.

Eh !!

Heeey, yeeeeah!!! Love it!! 15:30, I do. Don't you worry about it.😘HoneyBadger🇪🇦is now your fan, baby! I'm 100% totally agree with you. My point is... "Everybody... keep being quieter, more polite than before!! People is learning some civil behaviour during the confinement! It's a great step to the future! Civismo! Hopefully! Meanwhile I'm studying in the middle of a wonderful silence, with my babies around (cats and dog therapy are the best), they're my family too.🐾❤️ so I'm really enjoying that. Kisses! Keep going in English or Spanish, whatever! Love ya❤️😘✌️

Upside is that I’m getting a lot of yard/housework done.
Downside, can’t hang out with friends and we don’t have terraces to hang out on and wave to neighbors from.
