    You don't necessarily need to replace the whole coilover if they do blow out on you. You can order replacement shocks directly from Ksport USA, at ~$135 per shock.
    Plan on any track days or autox events?

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před 6 lety

      imHellaHungry we would love to track the car once it's been tuned up a bit more. We have more engine mods that have been waiting to be installed and tuned (We're hoping for 500 wheel).
      Also, great info on the replacement situation!

    • @MeisterWerks
      @MeisterWerks Před 5 lety +5

      @@CarRant We are KSport dealers, imHellaHungry is right. Not a bad price to just put a new shock in. We replaced two rear shocks on a GTI once before. They are easier to just replace the entire unit than rebuild them. I have tons of spare parts too, so if I ever need to replace anything, I've got them on the shelf. I've yet to replace anything else other than that GTI and we've installed hundreds of these kits. That GTI was the only one and he was in a accident. That's a great sign how quality these are.

      I actually called a few days ago and they stated they don't do that. Also individual coils sell for 75% of the kit cost so it is better to buy a whole kit.

      We don’t not have tracks here so it’s on the streets all the time. The average road surface in the city is quite bad (almost off road at times) and everyone here was quite sceptical about any “foreign” tuned suspension holding up. They’re still as good as new! I do speed runs almost every weekend on the highway and get up to speeds of roughly 120 mph and they feel really composed.

  • @lovethesmellofracefuelinth7374

    I was just looking at them as well as others online, and is good to be able to see these reviews. I was just going to put lowering springs on my Challenger and thought that it would be better to have the option of the adjustability, so this would be the way to go and don't track it anyway. Although I do drag race and since it would allow it to hunker down closer to the ground, I think that it would help it achieve better launches. Which means quicker overall 60' and 1/4 mi times, as well as give it the look that I wanted with the lowering springs and it is a good option over them. It's still internally stock and have just got basic mods, so it's probably about 450 hp at the crank and wouldn't break anything. The 6.1 hemis are rated at 425 from the factory, so that's probably about right with the basic CAI and racing exhaust etc. BTW good review

    Thanx for your insight. I do want to try a set of coilovers since I have not experienced them for myself. I found kSport Website specifically for my car; a 2013 Cadillac CTS. I do not need a set for stiffness cause almost two yearas ago I had the OEM ones swapped out for the stiffer sport style FE2 versions of the OEM. With my car, there are 3 main options: Comfort, Sport, and the Magne-Rides. Since mine is not a V (yet) Engine/ Trans. Swap. I got standard Shocks. So changing to a slimmer, stiffer, smaller Suspension System should give me many options. The website discussing them seems convincing. 60 in a 20 during a Curve Ramp, huh? Seems dangerously exaggerated. 45 maybe the fastest going ino the curve. Coming out going 60 I can see that. I like to keep safe 5-20 over anything Except Interstate travel. I made it up to 130 so far, easily. I do not like going into curves fast myself. Your Lancer is lighter and shorter, and smaller than my "Compact Executive" car. That is what segmant it is in. European Class D Comparison. Larger than a compact and smaller than a Executive. Basically a American Mid sized car. I was searching that up today. Yes, good review.

      these have held up fantastically. and there's a bit of divine irony - we actually found out we had them softer than we thought. After well over 20,000 miles on the clock with them, they are still kicking like the day they were new.

    Question: is ride comfort comparable to what stock would be? Are these coils less bumpy than most other mid-grade coilovers? Im looking to replace my current entry Teins that have 95k miles. My main goal in this replacement is daily diving comfort, handling is very much secondary for me at this point. I have a 2005 Acura RSX and Im now down to considering either Ksport control pro or Godspeed coils, but would even consider going back to full stock. These Ksports are now about $1,000. Would love your opinion if you think its worth it for my comfort and less bumpy needs. Thanks!

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před rokem +1

      @Car Rant dude thanks a bunch for the quick reply. I may get a set of these. I have 286k miles on my RSX, made a lot of repairs last few months, and I think suspension is last major repair for now, I want my purchase to be worth it. If they're smooth, adjustable, and handle well, you think $1000 is worth it in today's economy?

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před rokem +1

      For me, they were. A definite upgrade - and this car had bilsteins before I went to these K's. And they last quite a long time too, so the longevity value is worth it for me. I'll be honest, I hate teins and when compared between these two, teins fell behind DRAMATICALLY compared to the KS.

    I just put the KSport Kontrol Pro coilovers on my 2007 Hyundai Tiburon GT. I'm finding the ride (so far) to be super bouncy. I haven't played with the height or damping on them yet, but any tips on settings?

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před 6 lety +1

      Brandy Rich, LE, MUA so the bounciness is most likely loose dampening. They have adjusters in the tops and they just need a fine tuning. I would dial that for whatever is most comfortable. Once that stiffens up, it will be less bouncy, but be prepared for rocks and such to feel like bowling balls. It's kinda the way that it is. Also, I would set up your dampening evenly across all the shocks. One should not be stiffer than the other going left to right. When going front to rear, it's actually more comfortable to add more dampening in the back just to provide some cornering stiffness and get some better grip and power delivery by keeping the car level when the engine causes the front to lift like it does in my Evo.
      I hope that is a decent start for you to work with! Let me know what's up after you adjust

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před 5 lety

      On the top, if you have the same model, you'll want to rotate the knob-like Allen key shaped piece in the top of them. That adjusts dampening. For actual rebound, that's in your springs preload. That's before the coilovers are actually installed. You can still adjust that with the parts in the car, it's just easier out of the car. You're gonna want to rotate the the locking rings on the coilovers for that. You should see our video on how we installed these, might have more useful info for you.

    Looking at a set of these for my 2016 Nissan Altima. aside from the coilovers do you have any suggestions on what else I can do to it once installed so that I can get just as comfortable of a ride or better than with the stock. Any tips will be of great help. Thanks in advance

    • @CarRant
      @CarRant  Před 6 lety +1

      All of it has to do with the dampening. The stiffer your ride the less it'll bounce but the more it will shake your car, the difference being it will Corner much harder, have a lot more grip and feel a bit more comfortable than the boaty stock suspension that comes in an Altima. I also would try to have the camber set to about -2 to -2.5 degress. It's a very comfortable and grippy camber position. That will require a very nice alignment racks to set up, but not impossible. Also, set your dampening to the middle position. Mine I believe had 10-12 settings, so I started on 5/6 and walked it up from there to where I liked it.

      @@giraykharizzma7737 take it from me, the Teins are terrible. No comparison required. I had put the Flex Zs on my IS300 when I had it, and they were the worst coilovers we had ever worked with. At max preload (hardest possible settings) it would bottom out and be pillowy, sloppy feeling and way too soft. The Ksports are smoother, tighter and overall better quality in my opinion.
