Basic Tip that I know a lot of people missed. Crafting throwables like fire urns require Cracked Urns but they seem rare for most players. So they don't craft them. However Cracked Urns are not consumed in the making of Throwables. Instead they simply act like Flask Charges for Throwables. The more Cracked Urns you fine the more throwables you can have at one time. So don't feel afraid to craft throwables in the game.

After using 1 holy bomb you could replace it with any other throwable you can make from the crafting menu. And since you can hold 20 of them It would seem you can have 20 throwables at your disposal.

The tree sentinel can't even touch you as long as you manage your stamina. Even if an attack breaks your guard you won't take any damage as long as your shield blocks all physical. My Tips, learn to use -Auto-lock.
Great for single enemies, shooting a bow, or magic. Also good for attacking those glowing Beetle Balls that gives you ash.

-how to Hold Both Hands for weapons, Hold Y(Xbox) and press RB or LB.
    -Use your Quick Menu.
    Xbox is Hold Y button.
Have your Horse, Heath potion, Food for your Horse or/and Magic Potion or Flask equipped on. It makes it easier to find those items faster.
-Buy a Torch or Lantern early. Helps for dungeons. There’s more than 1 Torch with different properties. Like seeing Invisible enemies.
    - Try to use different weapons. So many weapons in the game. You might defeat a hard enemy by just switching to a different weapon.
-Helmets will give you different stats. Be on a lookout for them. The silver Chrome helmet will give you Plus 8 Arcane.
Some will give Plus 2 strength, Intelligence, Faith or Dexterity.
    - some Armor will have High “Immunity”. Use it for traveling through Poison or Rot Damage.
-Early Game Leveling is “Vitally” is Priority. This will help you out if you’re a new Players. When you get more Runes, Endurance and Strength would be next. The other Stats I would level up on Weapons you want to use. In the Game you can Re-Spec your Stats. But I never did, I kept everything at least 35 or higher so I can use most of the weapons in the game.
-Just Explore. Use your Map icons to mark areas. Look for Dungeons, Merchants and maps.
    Good luck.

One small tip I think you forgot to add is that using soap removes the poison/scarlet rot on your armor preventing more build up after exiting the poison area. It doesn't remove the actual effect if you already are infected.

  • @Mr._Lister_The_Sister_Phister

    ● This particular tip carries over from Dark Souls 3. Some locations feature water deep enough to impede your movement (aka you slow walk), and will sometimes cause poison or scarlet rot buildup until you make it back to dry land. You wont be able to sprint and rolling is not the answer due to the reason he mentioned. The solution is to equip a weapon with the "Quickstep" weapon art and simply quickstep thru the water. Though it uses FP, dont worry if you havent leveled that up, since you can continue to perform quickstep even with an empty FP bar.
    ● This game punishes you for roll spamming in swamps. Rolling will cause your body to become covered in the toxic liquid, and if this happens you will continue to experience poison build-up even after you have made it to safe ground. Should you find yourself in this situation, it's time to finally make use of that soap you crafted forever ago but never knew what to do with.
    ● Alot of you guys probably already know this next tip, but I'll say it regardless. The items "Margits/Mohgs Shackle" can be used to reveal illusory walls from a substantial distance away. Useful if you can't remember exactly where a specific hidden wall is, or if there are multiple in close proximity, such as in the Sealed Tunnel. They can also trigger the flame colums you use to destroy the chariots in various Heroes Grave locations (normally you'd have to physically hit it or shoot with an arrow, this lets you safely activate them without having to place yourself in danger. The shackles also work for tripping the little sword traps in Caria Manor, specifically the part up on the battlements with all the blue spectral soldiers. Margits Shackle has more range than Mohgs. The Shackles will NOT clear out the little poison mines utilized by the Vulgar Militia dudes. They will NOT trigger the floating lightning ball things in Siofra/Consecrated. They will NOT trigger the buried giant finger spiders lying in wait to emerge

      @johnkingsize Před 2 lety +6

Since I've died several times facing the knight after the church, I've passed through these birds enough times to notice something else.
When you aggro these birds, the first one will throw its barrel at you then get in position to rush towards you while the second one throws its own barrel. If you avoid the first barrel and then arrange for the second to be thrown on the stairs, you have a good chance to have the first bird touch the range of the explosion and die. With good timing/luck, you can even have both dying at once.
The same applies to the third bird at the end of that path, hidden behind a tower and a bunch of explosive barrels. If you advance towards these barrels and go back quickly, the bird will have already started its attack animation, blow the barrels up and die from the explosion.
The birds are also pretty frail and hence weak to riposts.

I could not figure out why sometimes I would smack an enemy three or four times and take a ton of damage off, and then, if I died, sometimes I would fight the same enemy immediately after and hit them 10 times and take less hp off them. Here's a tip I found out on accident one day. When you are on horseback, it might seem like you are limited to one weapon (right hand) unless you get off Torrent and switch it up. That's not the case. If you use the same command you use to 2 hand when you aren't riding, it will switch between the 2 weapons you have in the first slot of each hand. So if you are a caster who mains a right hand weapon and a staff in your off hand. Just use that command and you'll switch between the 2. On Playstation it's the triangle+R1 for 2 handed right hand weapons and triangle+L1 for left handed weapons. Now you can slash and cast seamlessly without getting off your faithful pony...lol.

I like to leave them as reminders to check an area out later if I'm busy with something else, like when I accidentally stumbled on a Death Bird spawn during the day. For those who don't know, there are some enemies and even bosses who only spawn at night (in the case of enemies it's more like they just spawn in places where they don't during the day, but the bosses can't be found any other way. I won't say where they are, though; you'll have to find that yourselves). Also, a little tip for the stealth lads; if you'd like a cheaper, albeit less accurate and shorter-ranged alternative to arrows or knives for distracting or luring enemies, the "ruin fragment" items that are carried by the wandering nobles or found on crumbling stone structures aren't just crafting materials; they can also be thrown. Great for getting an enemy's aggro and luring them away from their buddies to pick them off, one by one or, if you're a phantom and your host is at low health without any flasks and close to the next Grace, you can aggro any enemies in the way and lead them away. The later is, of course, extremely situational, but any tarnished worth their salt knows that they should have a plan for any situation, no matter how unlikely, and a backup plan, too, just in case. Returning to the subject of the ruin fragments, they're also useful for... not much other then crafting, if we're talking about actually, genuinely useful stuff, but if you're the kind of tarnished who likes doing stupid shit or engaging in dumbassery of the most extreme and absurd kind, you might be able to use them in useless mix ups in pvp, randomly throwing a rock at someone's head to confuse them because why would anyone stop to throw a rock at someone in the middle of a fight to the death, but they also deal an astonishing, mind blowing, dumbfounding, mind boggling, buffoon-flumouxing and game changing 1 damage, and you can carry 999 of them. That's nine hundred and ninety-nine rocks, for 999 damage over the course of the next three years, so if you're thinking of attempting or currently engaged in a consumable-only run, then I have wasted your time because who the hell is going to use this worthless information? Also, it's really funny when you get a boss to one hp and finish them with a rock to the head (if they even have a head), give it a try sometime.

Regarding the last tip (jumping onto breakable objects), you can jump on the pots (which are breakable, so time it correctly) in the poison floor sections, allowing you to let your meter go down before continuing onward.
This is useful when you're starting off naked and don't have enough poison resist to make it all the way in the starting area.

Here's a tip for people new to FS games: If you save and quit during a boss fight you will spawn outside of the boss room. This is useful if you died in the boss fight and just want to retrieve your runes without defeating the boss, I only use this when I know I am way under-leveled/under-geared for a boss and plan to come back later. It's a bit scummy/cheesy to do, so I only use it when I have no other choice.

There's even several cliffs and ledges in caves and elsewhere that you literally have to jump to get up, or gaps to jump across. These aren't hidden paths, these are like main paths and the sincere way to progress in these areas. Jumping is a core part of traversal in this game, even if you personally feel like you don't have a use for it, somehow. Jumping is itself climbing in this game, there doesn't need to be some dedicated "climbing mechanic" to warrant it. You can just jump, like you can just sprint and roll.
