  • After 10 weeks in the role, Emma’s time as a Maternity Care Assistant is coming to an end and unbeknownst to her, her colleagues are planning an emotional send-off. Before then it’s business as usual for Emma and she’s now at the patients every beck and call...
    In Episode 6:
    Vicky, who is expecting their first child with her partner Ben, has been admitted with a significant bleed. The midwife team decide to induce labour, but another bleed forces them to take Vicky to theater to deliver the baby.
    Katherine and Aaron come in after Katherine’s waters broke at home. The couple are hoping for a natural birth, using just gas and air, but after little progression doctors decide to assist with the delivery and things don’t go to plan…

      Ohhhh I can't wait to see the next series.
      I am a mom of four. 3 of my children were born at home.
      They are now 42, 39, 38 and my only daughter is 35 and about to bless me with my last grandchild, of which I have 11. This is my daughters second baby. Her first baby will turn 16 just before her sister is born. I'm delighted.

      My first son was born using forfeits. It was the biggest reason I chose to NOT deliver in a hospital for my next 3.
      Watching the doctor try to deliver that woman's baby was brutal.

    Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful series with everyone around the world. Emma was perfect for these interviews and amazing to actually learn the positive experiences of becoming a certified professional as a “medical technician”. She was respectful, morally and ethically stunning while supporting every mother and always the teaming partners involved. I watched Emma encourage every single set of parents and her staffing professionals alike while working in her role and making sure that the team felt they were fully aware and always “engaged” with their new babies. Emma was successful in completing her technical, compassionate, communicative, (verbal & non-verbal cues), head to toe clinical assessments, ability to teach parents what is expected in the theatre for a cesarean section or expertise for needs in the birthing rooms. She was spot on during the return demonstration for her drawing of venous blood draws for labs, newborn feedings and charting. Her collection of data for TPR& BP, along with venous draws and feedings ultimately provided Emma with a proven certificate for her 10 weeks of dedication to her new role as a MCA. Even though Emma is a thorough and competent television host; she can virtually do anything that she places her heart

    I'm watching this last episode and the woman who had the unsuccessful forceps attempt, leading to a C-section brought back memories of my oldest son's birth. Back to back as they called it in the show, meaning born face up. The largest part of the head going the birth canal. My son weighed 9 lbs 7 1/2 oz so he was big anyway. My wonderful Dr (I loved that man!) had lots of experience and I was able to deliver with the forceps. Baby was swollen and bruised, and I was in the hospital for a week recovering. This was in 1979, so no epidural, nothing. All natural delivery they called it. My first baby so I didn't think it was any different than any other delivery. I found out how much more difficult it was with the next to kids I had. They were slightly smaller and much easier deliveries. I loved this show! Trying to find the other episodes now.

    • @pinkythechihuahua3156
      @pinkythechihuahua3156 Před 4 lety +1

      My oldest (now 42) was a forceps delivery. In those days they used a paracervical. Nerve block. They didn't do anything for the pain. A paracervical was injected into the sides of your cervix. My other kids were born outside of a hospital setting. Oh that first son was back to back. It is called, posterior lie, or sunny side up. He was 8.3. My next son was 8.4. My third son was 9.11. And my daughter was also posterior lie and 7.11.

    I watched and enjoyed this series but I am glad I am in the US where I had a private room my own obstetrician who has seen me through the entire pregnancy and not just a curtained cubicle and the Dr or midwife who happens to be on duty. I also do not understand why they wait so long when there are complications. Come in bleeding well why not just deliver the baby to make sure everyone is safe? Much prefer a controlled c section than take any chances. Emma is basically doing what L&D nurses do without the 4years of college .

      Im so sorry that happened to you. My last baby, and only daughter, was born at home with Lay Midwives. My husband called before he left work, 80 miles away. I told him I thought I was in Labor. He decided he was going to have a few beers and play darts before he came home. He got home and everyone was up. He walked in the door and said it would be a nice day to have the baby. I said...would you like to hold her...he realized his daughter was in my arms. He slumped to the floor and cried because he missed the birth. I told him that was the last baby. Thats ok. We are divorced. And that daughter is expecting her 2nd, my 11th! In March 2020!
