We also meet a couple who are having their 5th kid and are already considering a 6th!

    Aww nooooo! I’m not ready for this series to end! 😭 I look forward to these episodes every week, I’ve loved watching all of the episodes of Emma’s journey not just through this series but the previous ones as well. I sincerely adore this show and I truly hope Emma returns (if she hasn’t already!) and I am secretly wishing there will be a new series about her continuing as hopefully a level 3 MCA! 🤞🏻🥰 I just adore shows like this that are transparent and real and showcase not only the beauty of childbirth but also the realities of what can and does happen. Thank you to @Origin for sharing with us, I truly hope there is more if not this series then at least something similar because it really does make my week each time a new episode is uploaded. I am not able to have a child of my own just yet (I have MS and have about a year before I am safe to try for a child) so shows like this truly do mean more to me personally than you will ever know. 🥰 So thank you, congrats and massive respect to Emma, and Origin please keep em coming! 💕

I am so glad to see there are still great ones out there. Blessings to her and all the lives she touches.

    I went three weeks over, was developing kidney failure and my pregnancy failed to advance. Baby didnt drop. Cervix didnt soften. No going into labour. So I was induced with Pitosin. I labored 98 hours with NO ADVANCEMENT when the doctor said enough. Vacuum extraction failed but rip my babys scalp off. Forceps and a fourth degree episiotomy, which is major surgery, produced my daughter. Vaginal delivery with 3 cm dialation and 98 hours of hard labour. It was all worth it but never again.

    100 hours? Wow, my longest labour was 60 hours. I went into labour on Saturday morning at around 3 a.m., slept between contractions until later in the morning. My husband went to work and I laboured on my own until he came home at around 4 p.m. we went food shopping, did laundry, and hung out between contractions. We called the midwife, but she said she wouldn't come until my contractions were three minutes apart. By late evening, my contractions were extremely intense. I was unable to sleep the entire night. I sat and played video games between contractions all night long. My husband slept. I was in massive pain and we called our priest to say that I have been labouring since early morning the day before. He asked everyone to pray for me because "it is touch and go" as he said. A friend came over after Mass prepared to stay until after the baby was born. We continued to labour in and out of the bathtub. At some point, my water broke. Then later in the evening, I stopped being able to urinate no matter how hard I tried. My midwife still refused to come even when I told her that. She told me to take some Tylenol (paracetamol) and get some sleep. I tried to lie down, but it was horrendously painful to do so. I rested for as much as I could, aware that my friend was asleep on the settee in the living room, but I was totally unable to sleep. I got up again in the early hours of the morning and sat in the tub. My husband woke up when he felt me leave the room. He came to sit with me in the bathroom. It was Monday by that time. I begged to go into hospital. He insisted that we stay home and called the midwife instead. She was grumpy at being woken up. She finally came around 7 or 8 in the morning. By that time, I was exhausted, in massive pain, and still unable to have a wee. She checked me and said that I was at 7 centimetres. I was still labouring at noon. It was around that time that we finally decided to take my advice and go into hospital after they realised I was becoming delirious with exhaustion and pain. Since I was in California, my midwife called our insurance company and tried to get the hospital she wanted to use covered with insurance. They said to just go in. We drove 45 minutes out of our way to Berkeley, passing at least two hospitals along the way. It was agony. My body felt like it was shutting down. I went straight to labour and delivery. They tried to get me to have a wee, but it was impossible. They gave me IV fluids. They turned on the taps. It was to no avail. They ended up putting in a catheter and checked my dilation. It had gone back to six. I begged for an epidural. The registrar called during that time, and I could barely remember who I was and didn't remember where I lived by that point. I begged her to talk to my husband, but she said she couldn't do that. Sometime during all of that chaos, they had to put me on oxygen and give me a nebuliser because I was having trouble breathing. I got the epidural I had begged for and eventually fell asleep for about four hours. My daughter was born at 8:35 p.m. on Monday 27/2/2006.
    After all of what I went through, I can't imagine going through 100 hours of labour.

      @bestiefswlady5251 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Omgoodness- there are so many hospitals in the Bay Area but they still made you go to Berkeley? Traffic is bad going there seven days a week sometimes. I think that hospital used to be called Alta Bates. Anyway, your midwife sounds like she was a bit mean and I’m so sorry you went through that.

    • @megangreene3955
      @megangreene3955 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@bestiefswlady5251 Yes, the hospital I delivered at was called Alta Bates Hospital, Berkeley. My midwife insisted on that hospital even though our insurance covered John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. She said that John Muir would C-section me if we went there and they were " not home birth friendly". So, even though I was in horrible pain, my labour was stalling out, and my water had been broken since Saturday, my midwife still made me go to Alta Bates and claim that it wasn't an emergency. I think she was trying to cover her own butt.
      I had hired my midwife because of her NHS trained assistant midwife. Sadly, the assistant had an emergency and had to return to the UK temporarily when I was in labour. Thus, she could not help with my labour. I was stuck with the more self centered midwife who cared more about her time with her family and her sleep than helping me get through labour.

      Your story makes me feel better about the absolute awful journey I am going through... C-section... Infection abscesses. Post-op day 8 sepsis and surgery I have a large open area my incision is open and packed with an entire roll of gauze wet to dry. My baby in NICU is getting better but a rough scary start for her. She's all alone and we are at different hospitals now day 12. The pain the emotions. Sepsis my urine also decreased and became thick as my kidneys were shutting down. Anyways im writing this from the hosptial bed now. Breech 35 weeks.

      @@rs3007 I am really sorry that you are going through this right now. The good news is that your little one should be out of NICU fairly soon because most 35 weekers don't need a great deal of support as long as they were born healthy. She is not alone. In the NICU she has a team of doctors and nurses near her at all times day and night. She also always has her guardian angel with her.
      I will pray for you and your baby girl. God bless.

      It’s the UK you do need to understand they do different practices then in the US yes the US would immediately jump to a C-section but here they don’t. They also take into account if her water has broken which it hasn’t because she isn’t progressing so there’s no risk for the uterus to get infected yet, so she can go four days withoutneeding a C-section

    • @sulfuricacid1578
      @sulfuricacid1578 Před 10 měsíci +8

      The UK will let you eat when you’re in labor the US won’t the UK puts off different type of birthing things unless it’s a dire situation or you are a high-risk mom the UK also has different practices than the US when it comes to the UK, they always try to do minimal intervention when it comes to pregnant moms if they are not in a dire situation or they aren’t high risk. That’s why in UK hospitals on maternity wards, you will see more birthing tubs you will see more natural things. There is a hospital in the UK on the maternity bird that actually has a full natural birth center, and then they have the emergency section right across from it just in case they try to do things as natural as they possibly can before they need intervention

But going by this videos standards I was in labour (consistent contractions) for more than 100hrs before being induced with my first 😅
