  • It's time for Emma to step up and get more involved. This week she's heading to the theatre to be a helping hand. The theatre can be quite a scary place for pregnant mothers so Emma needs to be on tip-top form to help out wherever needed. She gets to meet one couple who are having their second born who has a difficult time being born and another couple who have spent nearly a week in labour!
    After a three-year break due to the pandemic, Emma Willis returns to life as a Maternity Care Assistant. With a natural shortage of midwives, Emma is expected to step up and take on more responsibility on the busy maternity ward.

    Don't say 'we'll see' when asked if the baby is okay say the doctors are giving him some oxygen to help him or something similar. More often than not the baby will breathe with help and in the meantime you have made the parents petrified after an already trying birth. I've spent half my life in hospital (as a patient) and I've had my fair share of code blues and reds. I'm calm in emergencies thank goodness as both the patient or the one helping. I had a time when I started bleeding out which happens often however in case I was having a biopsy and the doctor was negligent. He then totally panicked and i had to direct the nurses to get another surgeon, order 0 + blood and told the medical student watching to apply pressure as the actual doctor panicked just before i went unconscious.

    Love the style of mask, although I know they are not effective. Germs are smaller than the holes in the masks.

    • @MiracleFound
      @MiracleFound Před 9 měsíci

      That is not true. Masks are very effective, that is why we wear them for sterile procedures, so that we aren't breathing germs into the surgical site. When we started putting a mask on the patient as well as the staff during dressing changes, we dropped our infection rate from 2% to zero. We discovered that the infections were caused by respiratory bacteria and decided to try masking the patient. It worked perfectly.

      No they’re not! Reading lips is an essential part of hearing & understanding language. Traditional masks make that very difficult & more stressful for healthcare workers who have to repeat themselves over & over. They’re under enough pressure.
