Last year TV presenter and mother of three, Emma Willis spent 10 weeks working on the frontline in a maternity unit.
Now, in Season 2, she has been given the chance to return to the hospital to finish her training, in a bid to become a fully qualified maternity care assistant, who has the potential to work in any hospital in Britain.

Omg!!! Poor Paige and her little girl! The baby not crying okay but she wasn’t even moving around!!! I was so scared especially since she stopped moving around in the womb. When she cried I was so relieved! Poor mum and dad!!! I pray they’re healthy and happy now!!

I was so excited to see this series back. I've always loved the whole maternity area. I started volunteering in labour and delivery, and the newborn nursery when I was 15. I've always wanted to train for it, but couldn't for health reasons. I'm living vicariously through Emma. I love love love this show and Emma.

This show makes me wish I had my twins there instead of the US. They just seem to be more personal. Here they just want to get you in to deliver your baby and get you out. I had a c-section and it was traumatic. I did not have any extra weight on me, stomach flat as a board prior to pregnancy and ended up with diastasis recti. My twins are two and I still look 6 mos pregnant while my body is super thin. I don't know how Emma dodged that bullet. She looks amazing!

Gas and air, or what's called laughing gas in the US, is used a pain reliever there because it has less side effects and wears off quickly :)

    • @kimberlyrose984
      @kimberlyrose984 Před 2 lety +3

Because a women needs to ask for it.
Not everyone wants pain meds and honestly it isn’t necessary and effects baby.
If mom has morphine then baby also has morphine and it does affect babies breathing.
There is supposed to be intensity with labor. It’s necessary to create the cascade of hormones necessary for mom and baby.
A women can choose pain meds and that okay. I wish more women could understand how empowering and magical labor can be when it’s completely natural and mom basically trains herself for labor.
If you just expect to go to the hospital “when it’s time” and let the staff tell you what to do, you’ll be completely out of co tell and try to get away from the pain and scream and shriek -which does nothing to help and directs her energy up instead of moving her energy down to push with breathing and grunting.
Yes, if you’re high risk and have complications then you have to have a hospital birth.
I wish every low risk mom with uncomplicated pregnancies could just automatically go to a birth center which is a completely different experience. A midwife at a hospital is way different from a midwife at a birth center.
Labor isn’t meant to be easy and not all “pain” needs to be numbed out.

My first was an emergency caesarean I felt so cheated and was determined to give birth naturally. My 2nd I had naturally with a bit of pethidine & gas, then my 3rd I did with just gas so I finally got my perfect labour & delivery!
The UK is very similar to Australia your encouraged to be up & walking around as long as you can. I always got so frustrated watching USA shows were every woman gets an epidural & can’t feel a thing! I did everything I could to experience a normal delivery the 2nd and 3rd time and I’m SO glad I pushed for that. I knew it was because my 1st was positioned back to back & was 8lb14oz and that is why I ended up with an emergency Caesarian and not that I couldn’t try naturally. I just wish I could have had a water birth but after having one Caesarian I was considered high risk.

The United States has got a very backward approach to having a baby. Its all about money, not the mom, not the baby.. Its sad really!

There is no valid reason for Emma to be in the delivery room. Her curiosity is not a reason to allow it. Much of what we see is for the camera.

I’ve been pausing and trying to figure that out too, I’m pretty sure is tattooed on! It looks exactly the same as last season so has to be a tattoo. The parting line is too thick & straight & the hair line is very square, you would think they could have got a more natural hair line for her!

I love the excitement from Owen but I think it’s sad that he doesn’t seem to consider himself a father to Lucy’s children from a previous relationship. He was already a father BEFORE the twins. My husband said he had three children before we had our son together even though he only had one biological child. He keeps saying things about how they’re now a family. They were one before. Plus, the couple is a family also. It’s insulting to those who don’t want or can’t have children to define family as a couple with a child. I was a single mom for awhile and my two girls and I were a family without another adult in the house.
