Your video will make it easier to get started. I also plan to use propane, but have gas incase I run out of propane. I live at 6,400 ft with lots of snow and power outages, so will run this unit for refrigerators and charging my Ecoflow River Pro power station. Thanks Gavin, I have no idea how "quantify" this, but how do they lift/handle? Are the handles sturdy, will it fit under a truck bed cover? Ideally how well do the wheel locks work? Would love to see how much they might slide and roll around in the back of a truck. Trailer peasants such as myself would be very grateful that analysis.

    • @GeneratorReviews
      @GeneratorReviews  Před 2 lety

      The handles on this generator are pretty sturdy because they are mounted on both sides and it should fit underneath your truck cover when the generator is sitting flat its actually sits on four rubber legs and the wheels are actually lifted so it should not roll in the back of your truck.

      Hi Frank
      Thanks for watching happy I was able to help. You should probably double check your sump pump make sure it’s not 240 volts. If it’s just 120 V the generator should be perfect for what you need to power
      I’m doing the review on a 5500 W that has 5000 running and 240 V it should be perfect for a situation like that

    The generator won’t necessarily overheat with a blocked intake. The intake isn’t for cooling, it’s for your air/fuel mixture. If it’s blocked it will simply stall or not start. If its on dirt, you risk small particles getting past the filter and damaging the engine.

    First off, best gen reviews bar none!
    I am considering a champion 4650 dual fuel & was hoping you could answer a question.
    I don’t see a fuel source selector?
    Obviously not an issue if switching from propane to gasoline. But if you’ve got a tank full of gasoline and then want to switch it to propane how is the gasoline cut off?
    It also seems it’s unable to run the carburetor dry for storage with the all in one knob?
    The price is definitely right on the champions but I’m afraid I’ll be unhappy with the lack of control.
    Again, excellent work in my humble opinion.
    Edit-- I decided to error on the side of caution & purchased the XP4500ih. Yes the champion was much less $ but considering this is a emergency genset I’d rather have a surplus of options/features.

      @@justinlyon1050 I contacted Champion with a couple questions and they failed to answer the gasoline valve question. My other inquiry was the lack of a fuel selector valve, if your running gasoline and switch to propane how is the fuel transfer handled ?

    • @JorgePerez-yt9ou
      @JorgePerez-yt9ou Před 2 lety +2

      I talked to Champion today 22Feb2022, and they said it will run the propane first and if there is gas in the tank it will continue to run after the propane runs out as long as the load isnt more than 50% due to a chance of stalling out when searching for the fuel source.

Can you hook this generator up to a relatively small breaker box by wiring it through an inlet box and then installing an interlock device on the breaker? I'm in an ADU (garage converted to small apartment), and I'd like to run a 5000 btu air conditioner, mini fridge, hot plate, and a few lamps (not all day the same time, of course).
