  • Are you looking for a way to feel better and improve your mood? Well, you might want to consider exercising regularly. Studies have shown that regular exercise can be just as effective at treating some types of depression as medication and therapy. Not only can exercise help you come out of a depressive episode, but it can also prevent future episodes. But how does exercise have such a powerful effect on depression? First off, exercise can help reduce the impact of stress, which is a common trigger for depression. Exercise also boosts your energy levels, and certain forms of exercise, like running, can even give you a mood-enhancing effect known as the "runner's high." Plus, when you exercise, you become more active in general, which can lead to increased efficiency in daily tasks. And let's not forget that regular exercise is a sign that you're taking steps to improve your mental and physical health. So, if you're interested in giving exercise a try, here are some tips to get started: Set small goals and increase them gradually over time; Focus more on the frequency of exercise rather than the intensity or duration; choose forms of exercise that you actually enjoy doing; Mix things up and try different types of exercise to keep it interesting.

Ive been spiralling downwards for a few months now with depression. Some years are better than others. I haven't been exercising over the last few months which certainly isn't helping. Tonight my wife told me i need to start exercising again and I told her its very hard to when im low (chicken & egg). Anyhoo i open CZcams and this is the first video i see 😂. Talk about arriving when i needed it. As with all your videos, they're so easy to follow and sensible in approach. Im going to bed now and im going to start exercising again tomorrow, slow and steady. Thanks again for another great bite size video. Theyre so helpful. Keep up the great work.

You're right about finding an exercise that we enjoy part. I remembered I used to dance to whatever everyday. Instead of thinking in my head "ugh I have to exercise". Im actually really excited and dont think of it as exercise at all!
I stopped dancing and focused on body weight things. Because I wanted to build more muscle. I dont find it fun anymore and find motivation to do it.
Ill put dancing back in my routine. I think.. maybe that's all Ill be doing because I really enjoyed it. Surprisingly, it gave me more muscle compared to my body weights routine
    Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤

Does this mean I have to workout every day? Forever? What about when I get old. What happens if I miss a day or two?
I’m sorry if this is a silly question I tend to worry about the future too much:/ but I greatly appreciate your videos they are very insightful and give hope!
I’ll give it a try though! How would walking 2 mile Monday- Friday and lifting on mon, Wed, fri be?

There is no set amount that is required, because every person is different. Typically, I suggest that people aim to get some form of exercise at least two to three times a week.

It doesn't need to be overwhelming; on the contrary, by doing some 30-60 min aerobic exercise twice per week you will likely enjoy it enough that you'll look forward to the next session. And yes, also when we're old we can keep exercising, going outdoors, moving the body. It's not health which allows you to exercise, exercise is what makes you healthy.

Exercise drains me harder than anything else. Exercise makes me very depressed.
