  • Are you tired of feeling down and blue? Do you want to learn how to manage and overcome depression? In this video series we will discuss skills and tools based on cognitive-behavioural therapy principles that have been shown to be effective in treating depression. In this first video, we will develop a better understanding of depression by discussing a model that explains why depression happens. We will explore how human experience consists of three main components: behaviour, thoughts, and emotions, and how they are interconnected. Imagine waking up one morning feeling low and how that affects your motivation to do things. We will dive into how these negative thoughts can have a profound impact on how you feel, leading to a negative spiral that leads to you feeling more depressed. This negative spiral can also work the other way around, and we'll discuss how this can happen. By understanding this cognitive-behavioural model of depression, we can start learning the skills and tools that can help manage and overcome depression.

    Love this video. I’m in a tougher episode of depression right now and trying to stop the negative downward spiral. I took notes and think this video / triangle image makes alot of sense, like you said a road map. Watching it i thought about the psychology book constructive living in dealing with hard spots in life (behavior side of the triangle, i would sum up is the focus in the book). It’s hard going to work and people ask if your okay, it’s like yeah I’m not in a good mood actually or I just say “I’m alright” it’s like yeah I’m here for 8 hours I don’t want to talk about it and just want to work and get home and have down time. Anyways, thanks for your videos man - I really appreciate them. I’m trying to stop the downward spiral and make it back to more content and some happier days. Behavior wise, I’m gonna run a few mornings a week, fish oil, job hunt. Thoughts wise, I’m gonna try and keep reminding myself - it’s not over, I still have time and potential left in the tank and can create a more fulfilling life for myself - but it’s just gonna take time. Thanks again.

    Thank you very much for this video (and for the whole channel in general)! I like how clear your explanations are, how you focus on the practical sides of dealing with depression and how you show why your advice would work.
    I was diagnosed with mixed anxiety-depressive disorder, but I don't currently have an access to a therapist. However, I feel like I'm currently at the point of my life where I can definitely live with all the diagnoses I received in the past and your videos help me a lot when I feel a little bit down. I notice the patterns you explain in your videos and I can break them with proper self-care.
    Finally, I also appreciate your delivery style, it's very neat and clean, there are no distractions and unnecessary editing. And you are a very eloquent person!

    Looking forward to the rest of the series! I just wonder what you think about depression caused by stress which hits you out of nowhere even when you're being functional and going after your goals.

    • @DrRamiNader
      @DrRamiNader  Před rokem +1

      Stress can certainly be a trigger for depression because it saps energy and makes it harder to complete goals that a person usually completes. I'll be talking more about that in one of the next 2 videos in this series.

      Just finished this and will look into other parts.. certainly my depression comes from my healthy anxiety and stress.. like i would notice some sensation in body and worry non stop them get depression but the initial worry about the problem vanishes but depression stays.. also some unknown/unconscious stress I was building up will take over.. I know when I get hit with depression - it feels like suddenly u get this empty feeling like "what's wrong? Why this feel not normal?" Then u will go on about ur life and do all the things yet u notice that empty feel and then worry more about it's not disappearing and then boom it's gets worse and worse
