After Tottenham Hotspur suffered another poor defeat, but this time in the North London derby against Arsenal many fans rivals and neutrals are starting to question Big Ange Postecoglou and his 'Ange Ball' style of play and if it can work in the Premier League (PL) at all?
Fans of Postecoglou's other clubs including Celtic, the Australia national team, Yokohama F. Marinos, Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar have warned Spurs fans over giving the Aussie manager time and believing they have a top manager who can compete with the likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti.
Tottenham are still fighting to finish in the top 4 and earn Champions League football, but Europa League seems more likely with a tricky run for Spurs that includes Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Burnley and Sheffield United.
And after Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich many underestimated Ange Postecoglou - however problems such as set pieces have kept cropping up as Spurs can't seem to master corners.
Now fans want to see the Australian backed by Daniel Levy, Scott Munn, Johan Lange and Fabio Paratici.
Even people have phoned up talkSPORT to air their frustrations on the manager.

Ange's system has exposed the players that aren't good enough, so far all except Romero, VDV and Son (Vicario if he eats a spoon of concrete). Newly promoted teams to the PL outperform in their first 10 games, happens every year, we fell into that category too. If we can't get Plan A to work, what's the point in trying another plan?
No ange is the biggest problem. Results and performances should be far better than they are !!

Son is not good enough atm, he certainly can't play as striker, he cant hold up the ball, can't win ariel duels and his linkup play is terrible most of the time. When he isn't scoring he is a net negative on this team.

Ange has been talking about how he is not satisfied with the squad and that there needs to be a lot more done… instead, fans are talking crap about set pieces and defensive strategies…. @@SonnyTalksSpurs Thank you for your 2 replies, friend. Yes, surprisingly Ange with the hooch pooch of talent he has at the present, Tottenham find themselves 6th? However, he was about to be found out and he knew it so did Levi. As a replacement, depends if Levi is ready to splurge the money and find some youngsters from the Championship or youth clubs and nature those players with a good coaching staff! The backroom is very important at todays' level of European football. As someone mentioned below, give Ange another season, if he flops, show him the door. There are many other English managers with premier league experience!

Im perfectly clear on all of this. Ange is the best choice for Spurs right now but if he gets a good summer transfer window and fails to get at least top 4 and/or a trophy next season he goes.

As an Australian I was so wrapped to see Ange become a manager he deserves after so long made me follow EPL my god the way the supporters have turned on him so quickly he's better off walking but he won't because he's tough and will prove them wrong
Ange hasn’t even had a full season yet, there are definitely issue that need to be addressed (a lot of which can be fixed with better midfielders protecting the defence more)

I’ve watched Ange for a while now and when his team and tactics click it’s amazing to watch, he destroys opposition teams. However in the EPL it may be possible that he is tactically of his depth…he needs another season though to know for sure.

I do worry sometimes if he has been found out a little, when he first came in teams didn't know how to deal with our style of play, I would imagine that now because teams know how to shut us down more we look like we aren't playing the same fluid football. Hopefully a top striker and number 6 will help fix many of our problems. We need to really bring in quality this summer which probably means heavy spending. I hope the club do that, brining in players that Ange wants but also players we deem to be quality even if Ange doesn't work out.
I really feel that Son isn't going to cut it as a striker and to be honest I find with him that when he isn't scoring he is a net negative to the team. We need to make sure we bring in a quality striker that can hold up the ball, link up play and score.
The only good thing that can come out of these set of results is hopefully Levy realizes how much change is needed and really backs Ange this summer.

Young and quality players. I don't think we should be spending 40+ million on someone like Palhinha, I would want the players to be under 25. Think we should be buying quality for the long term.

Got 30 year olds acting like 12 year olds when things don't go their way. Ange is an exceptional manager who I am backing and trusting. We have to do a few tweaks and next season a title race might as well be inevitable with a few decent transfers and the right players for the system to work. Hoping Ange does a few tweaks and allows us to bounce up to the top with an unpredictable style of play which I see in him. I would love to see a new DM and possibly a striker of the quality of Isak or Ivan toney too followed by fixing up the issue with Maddison, he hasn't shown the quality of a vice captain and has been underperforming after the injury with the fans criticizing him with ways that might as well make his confidence plumet. The 2 in the back system+ a good DM with strengths that could account for the likes of Casemiro or Rodri.

I feel like the drop off we have seen is a mixture of all the injuries meaning players haven't had the full season with Anges training as well as fatigue for the players we have had fit due to how intense the training is, as we bring in more players and better players, I feel like that side of it will be worked out

The game is simple, premier league or not. Ange will give Tottenham a new identity whether the fickle fans want it or not. You get what is written on the tin with Ange. There is no plan B or Mr Sensible tactics. If Spursy is Spurs current identity is there really a downside to AngeBall? The fans don’t know what they want so Ange will give them (not what he thinks the fans want) his formula for success. There is a famous saying about Henry Ford. He never bothered to ask people what they wanted because he knew that they would have replied “faster horses”.

Why can't spurs fans develop patience man? People on their 30s and 40s behaving like cry babies. Give the man some time. It's not like he was expected to be even top 5 at the beginning of the season with Kane gone and leaving with his 20-30 guaranteed goals. If anything, Ange has over performed, although not without faults. Set pieces, squad depth and player profile is still an issue which i guess will be dealt with heading into the next season 🤞🏻.

I want ange to be a success and am fed up with the manager merry-go-round at the club .However the results and performances are poor and have been for sometime !! I don't believe any tottenham fan thought we would be this bad at this stage of season irrespective of 5th place !! He needs to find solutions now !!
One thing nobody speaks about is how and why Sonny's form has dropped off also. There's a simple answer to this and that is that he isnt good at playing back to goal and holding up the ball and quick releasing it to others, thats just not the player he is. We need him back on the left, I strongly believe that that is one of many reasons to our dip in form. When sonny plays well and full of confidence it picks the whole team up. But if he plays poorly being the captain, everyone else follows.

If Ange had the Man City squad, we would be winning the league and there would be no Ange out discussion. Facts are we have some very average players that cost an arm and a leg that need to move on. Until we get in better quality players and hopefully during the summer, it will be rinse and repeat. Ange can only work with the squad he has.

Well presented Sonny! As you’ve pointed out, Klopp etc had roughish starts with their teams so I think we should be patient. Maybe folk should look at Levy & the board: worry less about hotels (too late cos they’ve started works already) & worry about new signings for next season instead.

All the players who have been there for the last 3 managers have had to adapt to a whole new style of football

7 goals from corners this season .Rest of league average about 5. Not quite as bad as it looks particularly since we had two fullbacks as centrebacks for a wack of the season. Ange understands the problems we have which in a large part is personel and squad debt.
There is a good article on the Athletic about the corners they were conceding early doors and how it changed season 2

Stating the obvious, Ange will want to continue rebuilding the team, i.e. purge players who can't play the way he wants and replace with players who can and want to.

And as for that comment that Ange made about conceding goals from set pieces, well that's just plain asinine! But first you've got to admit that it's a major problem, especially when every team we face are pinning their hopes on exploiting that weakness. If he can't get that sorted, he's got to go, cos Spurs will never win anything under him!
It’s so disappointing how many Spurs fans just don’t understand even the fundamentals of the game - so many stupid comments have come about because of the order of things as much as anything else - the first ten results created a false impression - and going three down to Arsenal by half time rather than just losing three two in a close match against title contenders clearly impacts the thinking of some so called fans - nobody expected us to challenge for CL position this year - our squad lacks depth - Davies wasn’t left isolated he was way way out of position when Saka scored - he has been a decent player for us but we need to replace him - ditto Emerson and probably Hojbjerg and Skipp too - we need cover at both full backs and a new CF - but personally I always expected this to be the case - there has already been huge change in our first choice starting eleven this season and that is a major transition which takes time - Spurs are a work in progress and any fan who says Ange isn’t up for the job after less than one year is not a true Spurs fan in my book COYS

Fans are delusional as ever. I swear this club has gotten an influx of people who just dont know football at all, or maybe they were always there but now social media allows them to speak on everyones behalf.
I bet they would all take Arteta now in a heartbeat, slate he is a world class manager, but forget his process to get here took 4 years. 4 YEARS and nearly 700 million pounds. And people want to write Ange off after not even a full year. I get that Spurs have also paid similar sums over the past years - but its been with 4-5 different managers. You can't built a proper team of charcters like that.

100% correct. Jedinak is responsible for defensive set pieces. The only reason he got a job is because of Ange’s long history of giving aussies a job at the clubs he goes to. Jedinak used to be his captain in the Aussie national team. No way jedinak gets a job at spurs otherwise. Ange sacked the bloke who used to do set pieces there and brought in the rookie Jedinak. Poor old Ange is in a pretty awkward position now as he has to try and cover this up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@shottskies This is not true though. The prior set piece coach, who left for Watford, was a OFFENSIVE set piece coach ONLY. It has always been Stellini who handles the defensive set pieces. If Jedinak took over that duty now I don't know - but it has nothing to do with the prior set piece coach. Stop talking like what you say is correct you waffle =)

@@SonnyTalksSpurs Royal hasn't played regularly enough and doesn't suit Ange's Kamikaze defensive style, neither do any of the Spurs defenders to be frank, and we have to rely on VDV to bail us out every time. As a defender Royal is top notch, it's just that his forward play needs work, and since that's Ange's thing, to have the defenders playing as forwards, he's warming the bench until players get injured, then he's brought in to try and plug the gaps. He's wasted at Spurs and needs to leave.

Not actually a spurs fan but an Aussie so I have been following Ange quite a lot this season and Spurs as my second team. Just gotta say the Spurs fans need to really chill the fuck out. After finishing 8th and loosing Harry Kane, having a season riddled with injuries for a large proportion, what do you expect? Spurs are not a title contending team, they are at the start of a rebuild, look at Klopp and Arteta's first years in charge, Arteta finished 8th twice in a row and Klopp was leaking goals like no tomorrow, not to mention Arsenal and Liverpool have significantly greater spend than Spurs. 5th is a great result after one season when most 'experts' had them finishing bottom half, re-group next season and build on the team you have. The reason clubs see no progression is because they constantly change managers every few seasons. Compare Spurs, United and Chelsea to Liverpool, Arsenal and City, the teams that keep sacking their managers are doing significantly worse. Even a 3-2 loss to Arsenal was a good result. Tottenham had the best part in general play whilst Arsenal scored a long ball and two corners, result could've gone either way.

Arsenal went to Spurs and played a low block. Arteta has had 4 seasons, spent big, but still went defensive against Spurs, what a turnaround. It was the opposite last year and fans didn't like it, they want attacking football and first bit of bad form and they want defensive. Man U sometimes play out from the back, sometimes attack and fans say they have no identity. Nuno was pragmatic, Conte too defensive....get Ange the players and Spurs will go all the way

Ange has done a better job than all of the managers around him in terms of first season performance, we are all but guaranteed to finish higher and with more points than we did last season so this season has been a success, people need to stop crying and let the man do his job, Spurs fans are never happy, the mentality is usually if we finished 3rd, why didn't we finish 2nd, if we finish 2nd, we were crap and should have finished first

@jacklegros6614 : You could be right. Ange constantly analyses the WHOLE team. We can spend hours talking, which seem to be the end all and be all of some people's lives, and I respect that. But that's not for me. I have other interests and challenges in my life.

There are issues for sure. If you have players that aren't performing and not good enough, is that the managers fault ? A lot of managers would dish these players at the first opportunity, at least this is not his style. If you take out the so called quality players who are not performing, who do you replace them with ?

he has been gifted 3 brilliant CB two of them new, he has been given a top notch attacking mid in Madders but has destroyed him, Vic is a big upgrade on Hugo on and on we go but Ange cannot or will not adjust :(

Ange has he in fifth, this is his first season and he's using in player terms what he's got, once those players step on the pitch it's down to them to do it, as Romeo did and Van der Ven. I’ve been around since Bill Nicholson and love the club. I’m sick of all the manager chop n change . We gave Ange a 5 year contract now let’s get behind him and stop F*****g whinging. As an Aussie who’s followed his career from the beginning as he’s a local, back the man and circle around him. For me, this isn't a player problem, it's tactics problem. No amount of spending will fix that.

@SonnyTalksSpurs I wasn't impressed with the appointment. I didn't expect us to do much. The first 10 games saw us take a lot of points but there were already warnings. We struggled beat 9 man Liverpool and the worst team in the PL in living memory for example. Those games were much like the rest of the season, pass too much, too slow and too far away from goal.
I think our "tactics" took a lot of the league by surprise, but they have now mostly learned to adapt to us. Our PPG since our injured players all came back is only 1.6 ppg. That's a 60 point season. Bang average and the same as last season.
We will see how they adapt next season

@@SonnyTalksSpurs yes give him another year, I’m Aussie and wasn’t impressed when took Socceroos to World Cup and tried to play like prime Barcelona and got walloped accordingly. At his 1 year at Melbourne victory (my team) he played with 2 wingers and a false 9. It didn’t work, he then left for the Socceroos job. Ange tactics don’t always work, that is a misnomer.
