- At 540 lbs, Ken's life was constant pain and severe depression - his self image was "human garbage" and thought of himself as a "monster".
One day when his boxer Lucky woke him up to go outside, he realized just how difficult it was to just move across the room and made plans to end his own life... but only moments after he had planned this something inspired him to change his life. Watch his incredible journey to reclaim his life and be inspired that anyone can change no matter how bad off they are, and that anything is possible!

I am older than you, Ken, and I can honestly say this is the best transformation I have ever seen on every level.. that's the truth. I cried all the way through it. First over your struggles, and I could relate to you in so many ways. Then I bawled when you lost Lucky. What an angel he was.

This story really really touched me, i can't stop crying right now. I've always struggled with my weight and depression. My dog has been my rock and by my side for 10 years. He's the reason why I didn't commit suicide quite a few times. The way Ken viewed himself, the struggles for basic mobility, the feeling of worthlessness. I feel it all. I was also recently laid off, shooting my worth lower, however it's given me some time to take a step back and reassess certain things in life. I've had the DDP Yoga program back in 2013, but I wasn't committed because I was in the deep of my depression. I've been in therapy for 7 years now, and while I navigate through the job market, i'm going to also commit myself back to good health.

@@amd-137 It's been a minute, but things are on the up and up. Got a new job, that came with a surprise raise, dog is still living his best life and i'm learning to live mine! Lost 40lbs overall since April. The real support was my therapist, and leaning on her during this whole ordeal.

It's June and I'm 260. Last July I was 315lbs. I likely had hit around 330 but started dieting and exercising little by little earlier last year so by the time I weighed myself in July I may have lost some.
Stories like these give me so much motivation. The way he described himself as a monster hit so close to home for me. I always told people I'm a slug in people clothes.
I'm gonna keep going. I want to stick around longer for my wife and son.

You can do it. I was 280-290 for 15 years, peaking at 310. I quit smoking, got down to 207, crept back up to around 235 over the first few years that I was a parent (stress), and am now creeping back down (225 atm) while also doing a proper weightlifting routine for the first time ever. Had a bad vein fixed in my leg and if I can get my knees fixed up I'll be in decent shape. Already feeling pretty good. Went for a 17km walk back in April and was only "a bit sore" after. Can take stairs two at a time. Can stay on my feet for 4-5 hours without needing to rest. You'll get to where you want to go because you've got all the power. Just make sure you use it!

What a special and amazingly resilient human being! My tears just started flowing, I couldn’t stop them. 😭 He’s such an inspiration. Here I am trying to lose 40 lbs, which I’ve been trying to do for 10 years now. There’s no excuse now. You truly can still do it...your WHY has to be bigger than your HOW. You gotta win the battle in your mind every single second of the day...but if u do, u will have everything u ever wanted.
You can easily lose those 40Ibs in a year, the first step is education. I recommend Greg Doucette's videos on weight loss and dieting, once you learn how calories work it becomes trivial.

Dang, your cat lived to see 20? Man... I wish I had that much time left with my boy. He's 13 and is starting to seem like he doesn't have too much longer. He's gotten skinny, vomits more often than normal, and has less energy. He's been my best buddy since day 1. I feel your pain. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. This is an amazing story. I resently started my own lifestyle change in Feb of 2023 after being over weight my entire teenage & adult life & reaching the age of 45, I was sick & tired (literally at 470lb!) I could barely walk & had a chronic cough & was just deeply unhappy. I was also dependent on my roommate for many things which isn't fair to her or myself. I deicded to start taking my life back in my own hands & joined a program that has helped me so much, my couch & councilers work with me and we talk all the time on the little things I can do to help myself & I've completly changed how I eat & look at food, so far I've lost 75lb! I walk better, I sleep better, I have better hygine (and lets be honest when you get to as oversized as I was this is an issue!) and my chronic cough has vanished!
I'll never look back, and people shareing their stories like this one, keep me inspired to stay on the right path!! So thank you for sharing!!

Dang, congratulations! That's a lot of weight lost very quickly. If you aren't already, maybe consider trying a Ketogenic diet. It's not what you may think it is... what MOST people think it is. It's not just tons of bacon, cheese, grease, etc. It CAN be, but the right way to do it is with lean meats and getting in lots of healthy fats with Avocados, Olives, along with Avocado and Olive oils, grass-fed butter, homemade mayo made with one of those oils, MCT, coconut, etc. You should also eat plenty of leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, okra, radish, and any low-carb veggie you can get your hands on. You never feel hungry when getting enough healthy fats, and it's not super easy to overeat. I started at right under 280lbs in March 2022, and am currently at 213lbs. That's even with taking a couple of breaks that lasted a month or more and eating garbage during that time because of financial issues. So, that slowed me down. But, I feel better than I have in a very long time by eating this way. Give it a try and see how you feel. Give it a full month at least. It even has very positive effects on mental health.

Your story brings tears to everyone who sees this video. Tears of sorrow to see the pain you where in, and tears of joy to see your accomplishments and smile. It is great to know you are headed in the right direction. When I use to get depressed I use to tell myself that "There are a million people who have it worse than me and would gladly change places with me" or "I don't have to wait until everything is right or good to be happy. Be happy now". Before you were on a path of counting years in your life. Now you are living life in your years. You earned it. Great job. Knowing that you WILL and HAVE motivate or inspire someone else is amazing.
Not everybody. Most people would never get to 500lb because they would stop at 300 the latest. So no this is not bringing tears to my eyes. I think it is crazy that we cheer people like him and junkies that got clean, normal people would never be in this situation in the first place. This is much better and smarter.

It's gonna hurt for awhile never will be quite normal, I miss the phonecalls the most. Helps me to think she's still here, Not physically but in all the little things I was taught by her and whatnot. I'm always thinking "what would mom say". In a way she's always gonna be with you. My sister and I still have voicemails we listen to from time to time. I don't know how healthy that is but was nice to just hear her voice. In time it will get bearable is I guess what I'm getting to, went a little off there.. I'm sorry for your loss.

I came across this video, and it brought me to tears. I’m 63 year old woman living in Indiana and I weigh 360 pounds at 5 foot six. I still work three days a week as a care, pro and every day that I work is painful. I’m literally counting the minutes until I can sit down because my back hurts so bad.
I have prayed, and I have talked to myself, and two others about losing this weight but my excuse is always been my heart condition . Whenever I exercise and my heart starts racing, it starts to scare me. I have use this as a crutch. You see when your is big as I am and others it’s hard to want to do anything because everything hurts. To be inspired like this is almost beyond my ability to believe.
God bless you for inspiring me and others . Now I’m going to take one step forward and clean up my darn house.!!! Then I’ll count how many steps I can take down on the sidewalk today and try to take one more tomorrow and so forth. We’ll see how I do. Say a prayer for me. I will video my journey.

I can totally relate to this man’s struggle and what he’s has to deal with. I too feel like a monster and hate what I see in the mirror. I started out at 300-305lbs and I’m down to 270lbs, it’s not easy but it can be done, I just have to win the battle in my mind first.

Way to go Ken and the DDP team!! It’s this channel that changed my life too! I was losing feeling in my leg and terrible back pain due to an injury and put on 50 lbs when I quit smoking. I felt helpless and didn’t want to take pills for my pain. I came across a DDP vid of the army vet in a wheelchair and knew then that yoga could help me.
Three years later I’m almost pain free and my leg satays awake for hours instead of minutes when I’m standing or walking.
I wasn’t able to purchase the DDP program but I can say that DDP helped change my life in a profound way.

You could always see he wasn’t “a monster”. You could easily see his physical and spiritual beauty shining through. His love for Lucky was a big part of his beauty. His little angel came to save him and he did, now he’s waiting in heaven. ❤
