DIY C8 Corvette DCT Filter Swap: Easy Steps!

- In this video I am replacing the Dual Clutch Transmission filter on my 2021 C8 Corvette.
The filter will be replaced later this Fall when I hit the 3 year mark and I will have the dealership replace the filter and transmission fluid along with a filter flush.
This is a simple DIY if you just want to change the filter and dont want the transmission flush before replacing the filter. For example, if you are well past the recommended mileage for the first DCT filter change, its not recommended to perform the transmission flush right before the DCT filter change as this may over clog the filter. This is temporary, until I have the transmission serviced by the dealer in the Fall but just wanted the peace of mind of having a new filter for the summer.

Just finishing up the DCT filter replacement, so easy! Your tips were spot on! I paid about 100$ w the filter and sockets I had to buy..
Glad it helped. I have another video showing an easy method for topping up the DCT fluid and I have another video explaining the DCT hydraulic flush os not needed. My local GM dealer is charging $1, 000 CND for this easy task.
@@SerhansGarageyeah, I researched the flush and found it wasn’t necessary as well.. 👍🏽
Good job! FYI, you don't need to remove plastic panel, just loosen front screws!
Thank you. I'll try that next time
Thanks I will Do that next time
I did this as well, thanks for the tip!!
The good thing is they use an O-ring as opposed to a gasket so it’s kinda hard that it would ever leak
Great video
Good info
Excellent video, I think taking the cap off is probably the toughest part.. I'll change mine when I get to the 7500 mark.. I have changed the oil, it's pretty easy.
Thank you. Topping off the transmission fluid was also super easy using the 'side' method as per my other video.
You are correct. Do the maintenance yourself, and you will know it's done correctly.
Good Video, Sucks that your lower piece is missing, Ya cant trust anyone with your car,.....Looking forward to the Trans fluid video, I'm really curious how to check the existing level, and how/when to add more.
Nice Video! Im going to cut an opening to access the DCT filter. Next time when u remove alum panel can you measure from center of oil filter to apex center of DCT filter? Thanks
Thanks for such a nice vid. One question; don’t you need to add some new fluid back to the DCT since some were leaked?
Yes you should add 2 ounces IF you have not topped up DCT fluid before. If you already topped up before (for tracking g purposes) it's not needed to top up for the lost fluid. I added 1 quart of DCT fluid - I have another video on how I topped up the DCT fluid.
How much trans fluid you added? 2oz? Also what trans you used?
I added 1 quart of OEM DCT fluid. I have a video on the.top.up
Hello I want to change the filter on the corvette but does the motore have to br cold?? Or shlead it be hot?
@Tomisur I would drive it before to warm up.the Transmission - it will help dislodge particles.
You didn't appear to do the DCT "flush procedure" that is supposed to be done before changing the DCT external filter. Or did you do it but know show it? If you didn't do it, you are not meeting the required maintenance procedures to maintain your warranty...
I am aware of the flush and I decided to wait till the Fall to have the dealer do the flush when the DCT fluid is due to be replaced at 3 years, regardless of mileage which I won't reach. The flush wasn't initially required but was added by GM so I can see why some are not aware of it. The DCT maintenance requirements on the C8 is the most confusing in the auto industry in my opinion. I addressed the flush in the description of the video but here it is:

I was thinking once you remove aluminum panel you could use a laser cutter to cut a hole under transmission filter, this way you don't have to remove all those bolts to replace transmission filter. Engine has a hole for filter why doesn't transmission filter , design flaw
That would be handy to have a cut out..the Engineers maybe thought it wasn't needed since the DCT filter is not changed as often
Labor of love, for sure.
Thank you, I try my best to ake really good care of her
So it's the E8 and E16 sockets I need to order ? Thanks!
Someone.commented that it's technically an EP socket not E, inorder to avoid rounding out the bolts.
I haven’t looked yet, is there a reset for the DCT filter?
No...not for the filter
Is there any oil under the car from the filter?
No. Maybe I was too dramatic lol. It was just a drop under the bottom of the filter, nothing on the ground.
What is the YELLOW o-ring for?
Great question...it is for the DCT fill plug located on driver side of transmission
Why would you change the filter and not the oil,,
The DCT fluid isnt due to be replaced until the Fall.
It’s not an e16 it’s an Ep14 low profile torx socket I need to be making videos on this
Thank-you so much for sharing. I'll remember that for next time.
