    Owners manual, says 7500, 22500, and 45000 for filter replacements.

    Per the owners manual, DCT filter change at 7,500 miles, then at 22,500 miles then at 45,000 miles. DCT fluid change at 45,000 miles.
    "The initial transmission
    canister filter change must be performed at 12 000 km (7,500 mi), and every 36 000 km (22,500 mi) thereafter."

    Just an FYI you need to do the valve flushing procedure prior to removing the filter to send all the contaminants in the passages into the filter. Dont just pull the filter without doing this.

    • @skylerallens
      @skylerallens Před rokem +1

      That procedure was only recently put out by GM as a result from the various DCT issues that have occurred on some C8s lately. It didn't exist when they made this video.

    • @timmorgan2650
      @timmorgan2650 Před 2 měsíci

      @@skylerallens I saw your comment about this on another video about DCT filter replacement. Just to confirm, it IS required to flush the valves prior to removing the filter and that does require Chevy's MDi tool, right? Although it's outrageous what the dealership charges for this service, it sounds like, by the time I paid $500 for an MDi tool, and $200 for the filter, I couldn't do it any cheaper myself. Plus the dealer would probably attempt to deny any transmission related warranty claim if I did do it myself, claiming I did it wrong (even though I'd probably put more care and attention in to it than the dealership)

    Hey Chevy Dude… great job and thanks for that information. It’s refreshing to see a dealer, that is service oriented. Many are not, and you do not want those people taking care of your baby. I have bought nothing but new vehicles for some years now, and I look at the consumer reports. They are drastic from dealer to dealer, don’t buy from one that does not believe in customer service.

    GM says the first oil change doesn't have to be done till 7500 miles like the transmission.
    Why is it that you don't have to change the oil at 500 miles like most new cars. Does the C8 mid engine have different specs so it doesn't require a 500 mile oil change? Like you said in the video you and someone else did an oil change early that wasn't needed.
    Thank you,

      The filter is $165/ea plus tax and s/h from Paragon. With the 13+ qts @ $39/ea (with the 2 additional) you are looking at $633 plus tax and s/h do do the trans flush yourself. Note the service interval for trans fluid replacement, unlike most vehicles that can go typically 100k miles.

    I have a 2020 z51 pre production corvette with 4,300 miles. It is giving me the change oil soon message. Is this because of a timer perhaps?
    Should I ignore it until it gets to 7,500 miles? I’m afraid to turn the dealer monkeys loose on it any sooner than necessary especially for the DCT filter.
    I’m sure bolts will be lost and probably they’ll pry the filter out and use power tools where they shouldn’t. Makes me want to do it myself but I’m a 50ish woman.

      There’s a reason it’s not cut. I would not

    • @JasonSmith-pt5tv
      @JasonSmith-pt5tv Před 4 lety

      Probably because the oil filter looks to be a conventional screw on type and located close to the panel so you don't need as much access room to remove and replace. The DCT filter being a cartridge style with a separate 4 bolt cover and an O-ring as well as further up inside the compartment needs more room to be able to push the filter in a click in place. You need to make sure you get the cover straigh in to insure O-ring seats properly as well as to hold it in place while getting the bolts started.

    • @JasonSmith-pt5tv
      @JasonSmith-pt5tv Před 4 lety

      Also the access hole is mostly filled by the bottom of the air filter minimizing the amount of air forced up into the compartment and any airflow turbulence that could effect down force. An access hole for the DCT filter would be wide open meaning it could create a considerable amount of turbulence. Also the extra labor cost at every 7,000 versus every 75,000 miles would add up considerably.

    Just a question, if I'm buying a C8 to track, why doesn't Chevy offer as an option or make it standard on a Z51 package that the 2 additional quarts of transmission fluid needed to track a Corvette be put in at the factory during assembly? Why make it difficult and expensive for the customer right from the start...

    • @ChevyDude
      @ChevyDude  Před 4 lety

      If plan to track it. Just tell your dealership so when they PDI they can add it. That’s the factory’s solution and it’s the correct one.

    • @ST-bk5uf
      @ST-bk5uf Před 4 lety +2

      It is not a correct solution it should be there from the z51 get go.

    • @samson4969
      @samson4969 Před 4 lety

      @@ST-bk5uf I agree. If you order Z51 it means you are probably going to track the car. It should be standard on that Z51 option. It should be optional on the base without Z51. The labor to add 2 quarts of transmission fluid is pricy in addition to the 100 dollars for the fluid. Like Chevy dude said in the video "Tons of labor". Tons of labor is tons of money. And I know it's more labor to add the fluid than to change the filter.
