MY APOLOGIES - ONE SMALL MISTAKE IN THIS VIDEO, WILL ADDRESS IT ON FEB 28,2023
Always looking out for you guys and making the extra effort needed to continue to bring you content, thanks for watching
This was your BEST tech episode due to less joking and giggling around and actually showing us and giving us technical information.
This kind of video has to be or in my mind why this is the number 1 Corvette information on CZcams
Thanks VERY much for that....
Chuch is the Master Technologist! Technicians are button pusher!
A great eye-opener video, the C8 Corvette is definitely not your dad's Oldsmobile anymore, watching this video makes me feel like I've gone back to tech school, guys thank you very much for giving us a preview of what it takes to get done certain maintenance procedures!👍
The best Tech Tuesday yet. Please give us more of these kinds of Tech Tuesdays.Thank you.Zora Zora Zora.
YAY! TECH TUESDAY WITH RICK AND THE STAR OF TECH TUESDAY...CHUCK!!🙃
It's not only amazing how clean the fluid was, but also you can't see a scratch on the bottom of the car, even though you jumped it. 😂 Very informative as always, thank you both for sharing your knowledge.
By the way this is the best tech tuesday video i've seen
Wow thank you
Thanks for showing this. It’s really interesting to see how complex it is to work on.
Rick, this video was worth the wait. These were very important and interesting things you need to know all in one video. Great work for you and the team helping us owners and soon to be owners.
Still think you guys should write C8 Maintenance for Smart Owners. There is so much you and The Star know that would be great to create a book on.
Thank you for the video for us DIY Guys...I plan to do a Transmission Oil & both Filter changes every 10,000. It's never too early for a Fluid Change. All it will cost me is materials.
Best Tech Tuesday yet! A real perk to have Master Tech Metts work on your ride…next owner is getting one well taken care of car 👍
Great Tech Tuesday. Can show how you re-programed the tires/wheels after rotation? Thanks
Mr. Conti you and Chuck are always very informative on Tech Tuesdays!! Rick,,Stop Dreaming and Start Driving sir 👍🏽
What is the part # for the molding lubricant? I'm just as curious what the price is for the service normally, and also- what is the cost for adding the 2 Liters to the DCT?
Great Tech Tuesday. Your over maintaining of that 2021MY HTC has definitely payed off👍
This is why you two are number one on viewing C8 content. I'm heading toward my first service. My 2023 HTC is 8 months old. 6896 miles..
Wow! Rick & Chuck. All your Tech Tuesday a great. Thia one had the most meaning to me. I too am a tracker and want to keep my C8 fully maintanenced. Thx
“Do What” is a classic Midwestern saying!
So much to know. Thank you, both, for the continuing entertaining education.
You gotta really know what you're doing a lot of hard work Thanks for the video guys take care
Fabulous job, guys! The more I learn about the maintenance of my C8, the more I worry about my dealer's service department being up to all of the specialized tasks required. Fingers crossed!
Me too!
Awesome show💕👍👍☕
Great video Rick and Chuck! Wow I can’t believe how much work goes into these cars! Chuck is the man! Nice job guys🙏👊
Great video guys, I have shared it with our group page for those who have the C8. You can never have enough knowledge on these cars
Thanks guys as usual. Extensive drain and filter change. You guys are the best for showing all this. 👍👍👍
Great video on maintenance! We drive our car so this is great information for us. I hadn’t thought about the relearn on a tire rotation and that makes a ton of sense. Thanks Chuck for this reminder!
This probably is the best video you have done. It's great to see what a mechanic has to do in order to change both filters. The best part is that Chuck was the real star of this Tech Tuesday. Does Chuck make house calls? :)
Great job Chuck. You are without a doubt the star of Tech Tuesday. 👍
Great video. Full of great information. Great work Chuck.
As others have said, excellent tech update. Makes you wonder if buying a C8 is worth it but you have to pay to play!
This is a lot of great information. Thank you. My local Corvette technician and I talked about rotating tires on my C8 Corvette. He didn't think that it would be important unless the car is used for NASCAR.
The new owner is definitely getting a well maintained C8 from the best Rick and Chuck.
Amazing amount of work
Man I love you guys
Great information on every issue
Because of the different tires sizes from front to rear, how do you actually do the tire rotation with the different sizes? I was told you can swap side to side but not a full rotation from front to rear? Please advise Chuck and Rick
I say just bring your car to Chuck!
Thanks for the info
Priceless
Great guys!....super!
Rick & Chuck - Thanks for the informative video. I hope my dealers tech. is as thorough as Chuck. I have been using the grease since you first introduced it about 2 years ago.
Awesome video Rick and Chuck! Mid-Engine and Easy Maintenance do not go together! But it has to be done and the proof was in your tranny fluid. Still looked new!
Very nice of you to do that for the new owner! Class act all the way.
Great Video! IMO: MANDATORY VIEWING for Owners!
The Transmission Job is probably not a DIY Project for most of us! You’ll need more than Jack Stands, Speed Ramps or a 💩Load of Concrete Blocks! And, get the hammer for the Piggy Bank.
Awesome video, I would like to see more hands on work in the future! 👍
Can you please point us to where it states to change that flat Trans filter? I asked three dealers about mine a week before this video came out, and they all said it was a "lifetime" filter, and didnt need to be changed.
Good question
Two different local dealers told me the same thing. This is very concerning since they obviously do not know what they are doing.
What that transmission service cost to replace both filters and fluid.
I read some comments it's like a half ass video of what you did I'm keeping my Z51 manual he'll of lot easier and I'm sure a lot cheaper cause I've had it flushed and the clutch reservoir fluid changed oil filter and oil labor was 59$
You either flipped the image shown at 5:30 or you found a right hand drive to pose for the shot. 😅😂🤣
Super cars require super service and information. You guys provide so much great technical info. Thanks to both of you. DO you get the employee discount on the flush !! LOL
This was great info for C8 owners. It just goes to show you that proper maintenance is key to the longevity of your vehicle. Just curious about the amount of time needed to do all the work performed in the Vlog? Tech Tuesday is something that I look forward too. Keep up the great content and information.
I fuckin love Rick and chuck. Keep up the great vids boys
Freakin A.....thanks so much!
Wow, the design/engineering tradeoffs necessary to build a mid engine car are significant. I remember mechanics complaining that engineers don't consider maintenance requirements. Having to jack up the transmission just to remove the pan is an eye opener the days of the backyard mechanic are long gone. Service experience at your chosen dealership is a significant part of the ownership experience hopefully mine will have technicians with the same knowledge & experience. I am anxiously awaiting a 2023 HTC factory order which will be my first Corvette after a 15 year hiatus. I am new to your channel and find your videos very informative & entertaining. Keep up the good work it is appreciated by many out here.
My Chevy dealers Corvette tech didn't even know there is a special oil for the C8. They put in the European formula. When I asked about changing out the transmission fluid they said they don't need to change the internal filter, just the standard DCT canister filter. How can they not know the basics? I am afraid to take it to any of the dealers around me in Northern Illinois.
Just got my C8, doing my transmission maintenance tomorrow
Love watching this segment. Super valuable!! I may have missed a couple episodes but if you get biger rims (and tires) are they able to recalibrate the speedo?
Hey Rick, my 2020 Corvette has 19s on the front and 20s on the back so I guess you switching left rear to right rear that the only way I see it. Great show today now I know I will take it to the Chevy dealer for my complete trans service .I would hate to make a mistake only a $20,000 Transmission
How about telling us the cost of this service. Also, noticing how Chuck was having to put some effort into adding the transmission fluid and you mentioning you still have to add the extra (optional) two quarts from the top, why not add all the fluid from the top?
You full till fluid starts to weep. That's a normal full. Than you start the car and cycle though the gears with you foot on the brake. Forward and reverse. Than top of the fluid in the side hole . Than if you want the extra two quarts you have to add through the top fill hole.. lots of other techniques but that's what is needed
Rick do a video on resetting the DIC after the DCT filter been changed the manual stated.
Thanks Rick and Chuck! All good information to know, for all C8 owners. Can’t wait to see your new one.
Rick and Chuck - seems like Chevy could have easily built in a feature that you could disable any brake "self-test" via the infotainment screen, or the OBD system. It could then re-enable any background self-test mode the next time the vehicle is started. Seems rather ridiculous that Chevy would make you disconnect the battery, when there's a much quicker, easier, and just as safe way to disable it. Just my 2 cents worth.
DCT filter change is $918.00
At Castle Chevrolet in Elmhurst Illinois
Great video. How about a breakdown of the cost for the different services Chuck just did.
Great video today
What's the rate book call for time to do the trans service?
Rick, it would be nice and helpful for your viewers if you could share with us what your shop there charges for the maintenence you perform. It would help us to have a guide as to what to expect when we have to service our own c8.as usual thanks to you and chuck.
It does vary from shop to shop - maybe will be make that a focus conversation on a future vlog, thanks
Rick... did Chuck do the electronic Flush (recycle) through the old dct filter prior to beginning the 3 yr/45,000 mile empty old/refill with new transmission fluid? I hope every service department completes "all that work" like Chuck did when mine is due!
GREAT video, much appreciated!
Good question.
@@marct9360 Did I ask the question incorrectly? Everyone else got a ❤?
@@captainmike403 I was serious. I thought it was a good question. I don't think Rick looks at the comments more than about an hour after he posts it.
That's a new instruction GM recently put out. Last year, when I changed out my DCT filter along with the added two quarts, there was no mention of a hydraulic valve flush procedure anywhere online.
SO how do you initiate the flush procedure? I can't find that@@skylerallens
Thanks guys awesome video. So did I understand you correctly you changed your DCT filter with every oil service? I have a 2020 HTC Z51. I'm coming up on the 3 years and wondering what the full transmission service you performed costs? Also when you just do the DCT filter do you add any fluid or is it a pretty minor amount you lose and nothing to worry about? I don't have the two extra quarts, but plan to add them when I do the full service. No track days just yet just fun spirited driving. I just hit 20,000 and just replaced the tires yesterday. Will definitely be doing the dielectric on all my seals, doors included. Thanks again for all the great videos.
Can you use a transmission flushing machine on that C8
Hi Rick Chuck what is the normal water temp on a 2008 z06 Corvette keep up the good information Thanks
That’s a wrap. Another great show in the can.
When I worked as tech at a shop, worst thing I ever saw was a guy came in for a flat repair. He didn't want to pay the 20 bucks to patch the tire which was just a slow leak. 😒. So he ask to just have his spare put on. I open the trunk and he had 10 bags of concrete mix in there. I was so mad. I had to take them all out to get the spare out. I told my boss don't accept any job from customers that don't remove their mess before bringing in their problem. This was back in 2002. I imagine that most shops now will also do this with customers.
Quick question is there an easy way for the car to relearn the tire location once you rotate the tires? Thanks
Is the conditioning for the roof a once a year thing.
Great video!! What rotors and brake pads did you used?
Right back to factory on new spec I will consider upgrading to performance stuff possibly
Did you run the software initiated flush procedure before dumping the trans fluid?
Great video, but I was told the first step of changing the transmission fluid is to initiate a DCT "flush" that flushes the fluid from the valve and solenoids? Is that true, and if so, how do you initiate it? Thanks,
So if I wanted to add the 2 quarts it would be from up top?
I had no idea a drain and fill would hold that much.
I am totally confused now...What the heck is the flat filter when you took off the pan??? Is this included in the free dct filter change??
I see no where that filter is mentioned in manual...??? Love the info. and site but this is ???
Rick when will you get your new Corvette ?
2023 c8 z51 check engine light p018b any concerns?
do you have to change trans fluid when changing DCT filter
I missed the C8 model year of the blue car you guys were servicing, but I believe all C8s have different size directional tires front and rear. How are you going to rotate different size tires, or was that a joke I missed? There is no way to rotate tires on my C6 Z51 or my 2024 C8 Z51. I must have missed something.
No idea what this means? I bought all seasons for Z06 do I use the summer tire TPm or buy another set?
I had the free service maintenance done at the dealership and the tech. Didn't reset mine.
I would not trust my local dealer to do this right.
How often should the DCT filter be replaced?
What were you rubbing on your convertible top?
How often should yhe DCT filter be replaced?
I am amazed at how these cars are engineered. I am also amazed at how difficult to service the engineers can make these cars.
Why not fill the two extra quarts of transmission fluid with the 13° technique?
How often do you replace the DCT?
Rick, where did you get those Zora stickers?
Hi the tires from front to rear are different sizes, just wondering about the rotation ,usually you change from front to rear, depending on the recommendation , sometimes diagonally ,so just from left to right front, left to right back ?
Yes they only rotate side to side
The more I watched this about the dct and transmission fluid change, the more I’m positive my dealership doesn’t actually do that. Am I supposed to be charged for the hard to reach transmission filter? Cause I wasn’t. Lol
Would good old- fashion Vaseline work the same?
yes it would!
Do you wipe off the grease completly, from the moldings? What do you use to wipe it off?
A rag.
Rick, I’m looking at some c7 Z06 with Z07 package with really low miles (less than 10k) and they are selling for almost what they did in 2017 and 2019. Close to 100k. Are these worth that or are they about to drop in value significantly in the near future when more c8 z06’s come out. Or do you see the low mile c7 z06’s with manual always holding their 80-100k range? I found one I love just had to pay close to sticker price on something 5-7 years old. Thanks
Everything is all over the place I am about to take in a 2016 Z06 - auto chrome wheels , kalahari interior with competition seats - sold new by me …sale price should be about $74,900 - if interested text me at 740-749-8377
@@RickCorvetteConti Looking for 7 speed I appreciate it though. Hope it sells quick for you. U think these are about to have a big dip in price or may hold strong being last 7 speed corvette’s?
Wow! Lots of work to do on a full flush on the C8 DCT. Bye, Bye beautiful Rapid Blue!
looks damn good for 30k miles, not babied either
All right!
Is this the filter that has to be changed at 7500 miles?
That fluid definitely had plenty of life left in it.
Only way to know is to send it out for analysis. Looks don't show how much clutch material and metal is in the fluid. How acidic it is and how much moisture is in it.
