    I rented a C8 last summer to see if I would like it. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I honestly have very little in the way of complaints. One minor one was the radio volume knob. It was so small and it felt like I had to turn it 100 times to get the volume up/down. lol I know there is volume button on the steering wheel, but I often like to just reach for the stereo. It's a very minuscule thing to complain about, but it was one thing that kind of annoyed me. Outside that, I loved the car.
    Also, I didn't feel like the car fell on it's face in higher RPMS. The C8 I drove pulled hard up top. Of course, I'm comparing it to my turbo cars, where they generally do fall on their face when the turbo runs out of breathe. Maybe you're comparing it to your C5 ZO6?

      I feel the same as you. Rented one back in Feb to see if I would love it - and did. It felt quick even at 70 mph+.
      Ended up purchasing one this week and will be picking it up from the dealer on Monday

    Our 2023 3LT HTC is perfect, the only engine noise is the performance exhaust. It serenades us when the top is down and when it is up and the rear window is lowered. Can’t see the engine, one less thing to keep clean - 2 windows, the engine and the engine compartment actually. Good video, the doors do sound cheap when you close them.

    The transmission filter service schedule(trans filter has to changed every 7500 miles or warranty is void) is kinda expensive…. Otherwise we’re very happy w our 2020…

    Great video. My only negative is the brake dust. I can't drive 20 miles, and the black rims are brown. I guess it keeps me honest on how clean the car is.
    Also, wait until you pull the lower engine cover. There are 20 M8 bolts with an E16 head, and 10 more M8 bolts with a 13mm head. I had to change those E16s b/c the head gets rounded off/damaged no matter what you do with the correct tool. All of mine are now 13mm.

    That creaking is a real bummer! My 2013 C6 has it bad despite white grease, etc. I figured they would have worked that out by now. Sure wish they just offered an FRC like they did with the C5. My 2024 will be here soon. I hope I have better luck than you with the creaking.

    Have you noticed if the car sits for a couple weeks the battery gets low? My father is having this issue where there is a constant draw on the battery and needs to be jumped after not used in a few weeks. Not sure if these need to be hooked up to a battery tender when not in use or not but it seems that way. I installed a solar panel he can sit up on his dash to keep it charging while it sits.

    C8 exhaust note from inside is def not what you’d expect. Doesn’t sound like a typical v8 at all. Base base model exhaust is a touch too quiet for me. But a valued exhaust would be perfect tho. We put a corsa extreme in my buddy’s c8 and it’s way too loud for me lol. Cool as a toy but it would get old after a while.

    Any regrets about not getting z51? I'm torn between 1LT + z51 and mag ride or 2LT mag ride only. I have never been to a track (though it sounds like fun) and mostly daily drive my fun cars. Everyone seems to say the z51 is a no brainer but how is the handling and suspension without it? Is this something I will not notice unless at the track?

    • @vit8250
      @vit8250 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Get Z51 with mag ride as that combo also gives you PTM. You don’t need mag ride with non Z51 as the non Z51 ride is already soft. 😊. And also 2LT is worth every penny because you get a lot of things that makes the vette more usable as a daily driver.

    • @ApexEvolved
      @ApexEvolved Před měsícem

      I went for a 2LT because it makes it better as a daily driver with the features.
      I rented a non-z51, non-mag ride car and thought it was super smooth. I don’t think mag ride is necessary based on that experience.
      Z51 only if you are going to track it and as long as you don’t plan on driving in a snowy area. Z51 upgrades the tires to summer only tires. Tracking the car takes a huge toll - there are protocols for additional services and oil changes that are required if you track it. You might want to research that.

      I love the wide body design & the Z06 seems pretty unobtainable. Also, the Z06 LT6 makes me a little nervous. I also like the idea of AWD as I drive year round. The tech on the E-Ray is pretty gnarly. Oh, and the wheel options on the E-Ray are awesome. I will never track it, so the idea of the fastest Corvette ever in a straight line is pretty neat.

      There are 10mm bolts on the front latches (on the car, not the top). Loosen them with an open end wrench, and tap them down. Just go no more than 1/8th inch .. a little bit goes a long way. This will tighten the top up to the seals.

      Unfortunately I am not too familiar with the C5 targa as I have the FRC. But it looks like you have a couple of options from other posters. I would start with silicone on all the seals and tighten the turnbuckle on the rear latch. (just a tiny bit)

      Rick Conti and Chuck recommend using AC Delco lube to keep the seals soft and less prone to making noise. They have a video they made for Tech Tuesday showing how to put the lube on the weather stripping.
