    I don't see what age has to do with preferring the HTC. I think it's just better looking and way more convenient to drive topless whether 18 or 80. Plus the ability to open the rear window when the top is up is really nice for ventilation and sound. I do miss seeing the engine, but I think that's the only significant negative.

    Dealers charging well over suggested price hurts the intent of the C8. At suggested price one cannot beat the ride, handling, performance and looks of the C8. It stands toe to toe with many cars that cost well beyond suggested retail. Personally I was disappointed with the tail lights on C8 which is something i could modify to ones more to my liking and suit the body/vette persona . Low vehicles require a little different driving style and awareness.

    • @GhostSpeedShop
      @GhostSpeedShop  Před 7 měsíci

      I agree the car is a bargain at MSRP. That doesn’t mean it’s without its faults, I agree the taillights are odd.
      As for driving a lowered vehicle, this is different. Even taking entrances at angles and such those airdams rub. It’s strange. I’ve had static cars for years without issues, this one, there’s not a driving style that can avoid the air dams from rubbing.

    If you go on the Corvette forums you will see many, if not all, of these issues addressed. The thing is, gm has not done much to improve any of it so many have just given up and live with it.
    The brake dust is awful. The only way I have seen to help it is to change out the brake pads. I installed radiator guards on mine from Paragon Performance. They also have guards for the side intakes.
    As far as a coupe or a HTC, I guess it all depends on your preference. For example, I do not care about seeing the engine and I do like being able to put the top up or down at a moment's notice, especially if it starts raining. Here in Florida, it can start raining before you know it. I have been caught a couple of times at night with the top down and all of a sudden it started raining hard. Being able to do this at a red light or just slowing down is very nice. I also go on a lot of short trips and I do not want to lose the trunk space with the top down. Also, you can turbocharge the HTC, you just cannot supercharge it. so you can do some tuning to it.
    I have a carbon fiber spitter on the front of mine and I got the front-end lift just because of this. so far no issues. The back trunk is for sure an issue with heat. I just put my groceries in the front. I have looked at the heat shield but has not been a priority for me yet.
    Yea, the phone charger sucks. The location has been brought up many times. I have left my phone in the car countless times. for most short trips I just put my phone in the drink holder and charge it at home.
    sorry about all your paint chipping. So far, I have not had that problem. Now I did ppf coat the front half of my car, even the headlights, so I am not sure if that helped or not. ( I highly recommend ppf on the front, especially the hood. That hood is going to get eaten up with rock chips. I already see many dings right on my ppf. I will have to replace the ppf at some point, but I would rather do that than have to paint it.
    I have the same interior as you do. the only difference with mine is the blacked-out top and twin black stripes down the middle. Great color.
    Anyway, it is a great car. It brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. Cheers.

    Hey Maverick. Your comment on the HTC gave me pause. One thing you may not be aware of is the HTC allows for 2 more inches of headroom compared to a coupe. For those of us tall guys, this is the only option. I tried to fit in a coupe and it just would not work. I’m thankful for the extra 2 inches of headroom, otherwise, the C8 would not have been an option and like you, I love this car!

      More importantly, when you stow the roof panel in the trunk, you lose all that space. It is a real issue on trips, when you have luggage. With the HTC, you lose ZERO space with the top down! The rear window that rolls down is also a huge advantage. With the release of the clear engine covers, I don't know why anyone would choose a coupe over a convertible??

    • @BIGLARRY100
      @BIGLARRY100 Před 8 měsíci

      I have an htc but more ppl do in fact choose the coupe. They have sold more coupes than htc's every year so far. The coupe has more advantages. It's faster, see the engine from the factory, less stuff to break, almost 10k cheaper. I do like rolling down my back window & I like the no loss of space w/ the roof down BUT even if u buy a clear engine cover it's not as open of a view of the engine. The engine itself also needs a dressed up as they don't put any eye candy on it. Plus, u still have to engage the drop top & stop mid-way to see the engine after the mods. Its not the same in any way. If ur goin on vaca & packing, simple keep the target top on until ur bags are in the hotel. I like my htc but I can 100% see why many prefer the coupe

    • @jefemang3430
      @jefemang3430 Před měsícem

      2-3 inches if you push the seat back, but the targa is actually taller if you sit under it. You'll see it plenty for us really tall guys (6'3"+) where we can fit in a coupe, but not HTC unless the person is very leggy. I'm pretty evenly distributed and I literally cannot fit in the HTC without it touching my head unless I recline the seat so I'm halfway lying down. If I sit under the targa on a coupe, I can fit with 1-2" to spare (touch more if transparent roof) but I can't put the seat back too far.
      Either way, HTC > Coupe all day if you can actually fit in one lol

    The thing you’re missing on HTC VS. Coupe is that you lose the entire rear trunk on the coupe when the targa top is stored there. Getting to look at your engine vs. going on a weekend trip top down with some luggage is big deal. Lastly, I can modify my HTC to show off the engine with a clear cover. Problem solved, but you still can’t get to your Tostitos without lifting the targa out of the way, and you can’t put anything on top of the targa without scratching it or having a slip cover to protect it from junk you now have to lift out of the way.

    My 2022 rarely bottoms out, that said, I'm glad I have front end lift. I have a coupe but if I knew how much I would enjoy having the top off, I would have bought the HTC. While I like the looks of the coupe, my fiancee had the HTC and having the top off option while fully packed for a 2 week road trip is awesome. Yes, I an see my engine but who cares. The heat in the trunk is an issue, I did the heat shield fix and it definitely helps. On the other hand, other mid-engine cars only have a frunk. All 2 and 3 LTs regardless of year have a wireless charger. I don't have chipping paint but my bumper is mis-aligned, it is something that should be addressed. • @GhostSpeedShop
      @GhostSpeedShop  Před 9 měsíci

      The car is lowered one inch, that’s it. I’m running taller tires to combat this now. One of the biggest issues is the roads in Hawaii, but if those air dams were 1/2 inch higher this wouldn’t be an issue with or without being lowered.

    • @py2237
      @py2237 Před 9 měsíci

      @@GhostSpeedShop Even though it seems small, that one inch can really multiply and affect your approach angle severity for driveways since c8's are made to ride lower anyways to begin with. Any larger splitters or other mods will add more crippling effects to the vehicle.
      I have a stock height vehicle with a longer nose overhang and I really have to watch driveways (but speedbumps have no issues at all). I believe the regulated minimum clearance for vehicle height is 4 inches, and you may be potentially below that. Hey…Princess and the Pea…seriously? You should have done your homework BEFORE buying the car!!! It’s a sports car…it’s supposed to be low. Why are you driving around with your pucks attached, that makes no sense? As for the trunk being hot…it’s a rear engine car! As for the convertible not allowing you to see the engine, that’s an engineering safety feature…it has to be that way. I have a 2022 C8 HTC LT3 Z51…and I absolutely love it. I do agree with one point…the phone charger position is not the best. However…I’ll suck it up…I own a new vette!!! Seriously bro…either enjoy the car or buy a different vehicle. Complaining about one of the most iconic sports cars to be made (mostly) in America…and making a video about it….just enjoy and drive. Peace

      Yeah I feel bad for this video blowing up the way it did. I truly love the car, the positives far outweigh the negatives, I’ll have another video coming out soon talking about what a bargain this car is.
      The pucks stay in to protect the side skirts, as the roads are terrible here in Hawaii. They only hang down about 2mm lower than the sides and have saved them a couple of times. This was actually recommended to me by someone else a while back and I’m glad I left them in.
      The trunk being hot is an engineering issue, GM only put thermal material on the bottom side and not the inside of the trunk hatch. I’ve fixed that on my car and noticed a difference. (I have a video on this coming out next week), but yeah take this all with a grain of salt as I love the c8, I just have some minor gripes.

    Here's a shocker.....KEEP THE WINDOWS CLOSED WHEN YOU SPRAY THE WINDSHIELD!!! Many many cars, including my Mercedes ML, have fluid pour into an open side window when spraying. How many cars have you owned?? Older cars (classics really) didn't have this happen because any water or fluids would just get trapped in the windshield mouldings and slowly rot the frame😢

    • @GhostSpeedShop
      @GhostSpeedShop  Před rokem

      Read the other comments. I’ve owned many cars without this issue, but a vehicle where it’s common to have the windows down, probably should have a piece of trim on the edge of the window that catches the washer fluid.

      The C8 is a copy of the last Acura NSX. The C7 is just as bad; a batmobile looking design. GM copied a lot of things: mid engine design, double clutch transmission (a Porsche design and development from the mid 80s in their race cars).

    • @GhostSpeedShop
      @GhostSpeedShop  Před 10 měsíci

      @@achristian7015 it’s hard to say one manufacturer has copied any other when technology changed and is adopted overtime for the consumer market. There’s a lot of vehicles with DCTs in them nowadays and almost every major manufacturer has a mid engine platform. This is just chevys offering. They did it their way by staying with a NA V8. The first mid engine car was the 1962 René Bonnet Djet, are you saying that all mid engine cars are just a knock off of it? Because with that logic, I guess no manufacturer should progress overtime and create new platforms.

      @@GhostSpeedShop The DCT or PDK as Porsche calls it was first designed on paper back in the 30s in France. Porsche then used it first in the 956 in the 80s. And Porsche also had a 356 mid-engine, their first prototype, but it was too expensive and was later changed to a rear engined 356 as we know it. But long before then they also had mid engines that F1 later adopted. Source: the books tht I have. But to add to it, Chrysler thought they invented the mini-van...ecuse me VW did it long before Chrysler. And the C8 looks so much like the NSX...have a look.
