  • Please subscribe to the channel so I can keep bringing you great content! Here’s a great how-to guide for fixing the issues where heat from the engine bay warms up the rear trunk on the C8! This project can be done for under 50 bucks and in about 30 minutes. For those concerned about where the heat will go, it will rise out the vents on the coupe trunk/ hatch lid and the vent on the HTC lid. If you are concerned about heat on your air box, wrap it too.

    Just hoping that GM engineers weren’t relying upon that area as a heat transfer surface to evacuate heat from the engine bay. • @MiguelCedenoLozano
      @MiguelCedenoLozano Před rokem +3

      Your theory is unfortunately absolutely correct.
      What are the long term effects of restricting heat dissipation in such a critical area? The engine bay may overheat, more than it already does, and create far worse problems over time than having a hot trunk.
      This just seems like a natural consequence with mid-engine cars.
      Having storage in that area is already a convenience in utility that breaks the rules and, therefore, should be appreciated with its natural deficiencies in mind.
      Perhaps it went down like this:
      Chevy executives pitched that they needed a mid-engine car that has a trunk and is $65k.
      Chevy engineers said "That's not possible". Chevy executives replied "Make it happen".
      Corners had to be cut. It's Chevy after all. The unreliable company protected by the government whose CEO blatantly lied about being the number one EV manufacturer in the world about a year ago.

    • @DavidJCarrell
      @DavidJCarrell Před rokem +3

      Yeah I’m thinking it might be easier just to get one of those soft-sided insulation ice chests and keep it in the trunk…that way engine heat can still transfer into the trunk but it won’t affect any cold food items. Probably wouldn’t even need ice as the cold food items would provide the cooling effect

    • @GhostSpeedShop

      It could be, but the air box material is a bit thicker than even the panel that goes into the trunk. I’ll bet the thickness insulated the air box pretty well. • @GhostSpeedShop

      The airbox sees constant heat from the engine bay already. I think alot of people commenting negate the fact that the airbox is a very thick plastic that should be insulated enough from engine temps. Additionaly there is a constant flow of air through it that should stay cool. Unless anyone has data to state that IAT temps have risen after simply insulating their trunk, then I think the argument is bogus.
