No, I was changing the oil on my 97 SS Camaro, started it up and backed it off the ramps. Not all the oil but a big mess in my driveway. Looked at the filter upside down in my drain pan, turned it over and no gasket. Funny thing is I always wipe the block before I install the new one and for some reason I did not notice it was still there. @@VetOnVettes
Looks pretty easy. I don't know why on the C5 they put the drain plug in the front of the oil pan so you have to get the whole damn car up in the air. I want to do it myself but trying to figure out my best option being in a apartment complex has been tough. Hall Chevy nailed me for 150 bucks for an oil change a few months ago and i'm not going to keep paying those kinds of prices.
Great tip on the cup to take off the filter. I wish I had known that decades ago, I would have saved myself a lot of time cleaning up an oily arm. When does the lift come in?
Super simple oil and filter change. I like the cup idea, but if you unscrew the filter just a couple of threads and let it drain, there will be no mess. Did you really start the engine without oil or just warning others? I could see that happening so I left the fob in my toolbox while I did the oil change.
Great video but one caution - Chevrolet says the C8 takes Mobil 1 "ESP" 0W40 which is Dexos 2 rated. Last time I checked the "Supercar" blend was Dexos 1 rated.
I like the cup over the filter trick, thanks.
One of the easiest cars that I have to do the change, thanks for the video!!
I really like the cup filter trick…Thanks for sharing 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the video bro, greetings from another C8 owner in NOVA
And do not forget to check the filter/block to make sure the gasket came off with the filter. Ask me how I know.
Damn. I've never seen that before.. but will definitely be more cognizant. Did it dump all the oil?

Great Video, thanks 👍
I'll probably construct the same style ramps. Exactly how high are they at their tallest point?

Nice instructions....thanks.
You bet 👍

When does the lift come in?
Hoping this month 🤞🤞
Have you thought about doing a video for the DCT filter??
I will be soon 🤙👍

I did not start the car with no oil in it, however, I have inadvertently started it in my garage by accident just having the fob in my pocket.
Did you just back up to your homemade ramps or did you jack up the car and place the ramps underneath?
Just backed up.
Height & total length of the ramps you built.?
How tall are your ramps?
Roughly 1 foot.
Did your front lip rub on the floor?@@VetOnVettes

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Dexos2 was exclusively for diesel engines 🤷🏼♂️
From what I've read, the ESP oil was rebranded to Supercar.
I mean, you could’ve told us what kind of oil filter you got
PF64 AC Delco. I have no idea why I omited that. It'll be in the description. *** I do mention the oil filter @ 1:20***
How many miles/%oil life did you have?
Sent you a message on IG with my #till I'm back on FB.
Hey man. I'll hit you up this week. We still need to go on a C8 cruise. I was right at 3500 miles.
