    Hi my dear Dmitry!!
    I REALLY like the extremely easy work to change oil in this (Amazing/Fabulous/Beautiful) Corvette… as easy as it was in the past (60-70’s cars), and not the very-time-and-labor of most today’s cars.
    And for the oil change intervals: I can’t remember if I told you that I was an Drag Racing engine builder (mostly Chrysler Big Blocks), and FOR ME an oil change interval is between 5000-7500 mile or one year interval, and ALWAYS with top of the line oils and filters (your Mobil is an excellent oil).
    Kind regards my dear friend, your Corvette is a jewel.
    👍👍👍👍👍

      Joaquín so good to talk to you my friend! Im also very happy with their straight forward approach to maintenances. When I was buying this mid engine car I was a bit concerned since you have to take the engine out for so many tasks. However looking at the service manual its really not that bad. I think if I worked hard I could remove the engine in about an hour. This is better than so many other cars where you need to remove a ton of body panels to do some of the same basic things. Like on my audi you need to remove the whole front of the car to do things like the water pump, it honestly looks like it will take longer than removing the engine on the c8 to do the same job. Compared to some of the Italian and other european mid engine cars this c8 is a breeze to work on.
      Wow I did not know you were an engine builder. That is so cool! I think partially an issue for intervals on the c8 is that it has a dry sump racing style oil system and about 2 liters of oil never drain during a change (without removing the engine) so you just dilute that oil with new oil every change. New cars have some extreme oil change intervals. My audi factory does 10,000 miles but with big turbo i do about 5,000.

      @@DmitrysGarage Perhaps I’m getting too old (almost 62), but I don’t believe in sooooo looooong oil changes, because possibly the oil could still have it’s characteristics, but there is a lot of dirt “dancing” inside the engine.
      As I told you I’m living in Spain, and I’m working in an auto-shop not as mechanic but in administration, and the cost for labor-hours even in common vehicles is very high, because (as in your beautiful Audi), it’s so difficult to change almost everything…
      We have to remember that your Corvette IS a Super-Car, and obviously it has differences, but it still have american soul!!!
      Kind regards my dear, and sorry for my english👍👍👍

      Joaquín your english is great! I think what is amazing with modern oils (ie. high end ester/pao blends) is their resiliency to sheering. As long as your filter doesn’t fill up it should remove all the larger particles from the oil. Plus you can also have a lab test your oil (like $20) and see if its still good and get an idea of oil health. Ive paid for lab analysis before and ive been very surprised in how well a modern synthetic oil holds up in even a 1000hp application after thousands of miles. Modern technology is incredible. An average 300hp car could do 10k miles. I do understand more frequent changes for peace of mind though! Hope we talk soon again my friend :)

    A buddy of mine (Corvette owner) was telling me that the C8 oil change is pretty much a dealer service item only. I know there's car's out there that fit that narrative but didn't know if the C8 was one of them. Thanks for posting the video and removing all doubt regarding the C8 oil change, however a lift does make the job much easier...

      I think people assume being mid-engine everything is dealer only. I think GM mostly managed to avoid some of the challenges that plagued others trying to make a budget supercar. I do plan to use the warranty for anything that breaks, but maintenance wise having the lift and tools does make it simple enough to DIY. The oil change itself is real straight forward though.

    The physical/manual part really isn’t that difficult where the rubber meets the road is if you haven’t met the requirements GM will require as proof the work was done properly if they can find any reason at all, they will deny warranty work. It’s just not worth what I might save now than having to pay what they will charge me in the future after denying the warranty. Don’t worry that could never happen to you right?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Před 4 měsíci +2

      What are these GM requirements that you believe are needed as proof? In the US you do not have to service vehicles at a manufacturer’s dealer to maintain warranty. This is no different than any other oil change on any other car. Just save your receipts. No need to normalize the paranoia of always doing dealer services like the European supercar owners do.

    Great video But, You did not share what specific oil to use. That is very important. Just FYI

    I can’t find any confirmation if you can change your own spark plugs on the C8 mid engine? Does anybody have information?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Před 11 měsíci

      I mean you can do anything yourself, the question is should you, heh ;-). I haven’t looked into plugs yet. Feel like its gotta be doable but likely annoying because its not an overhead cam engine. So they’re gonna be hard to access most likely. Theyre going to be on the sides and “low” like where the header mains are. So basically get ready for fishing them out.

    Would backing onto a pair of ramps affect how much oil arains?

      Possibly, I haven't tried it, but I hear people do it this way. As long as ~7.5qts come out I think you're fine.
