Can I still ride 50 miles offroad?

  • With the new season here and longer rides planned I thought it about time I upped my miles. I've done a lot of walking over the winter and some shorted mountain biking rides, mainly around 20 miles so I was eager to test myself as I've just tipped over into my 69th year. That and my battle with steroid medication means keeping up the healthy lifestyle.
This video is my not only testing myself but also looking for trails to add to the event I am putting on in June, the Surly100 bikepacking weekend. (Link Below)
You'll see I start my Wahoo GPS in a field at the start of this video, that's the halfway campsite. Fancy entering there's a link below.

Good going Graham, I would say the fat bike is ideal for some of those trails. I also suffer from neck ache at the moment. I found your Strava, your doing great for an oldun. Fitter than me I reckon:)

We have to use it or lose it I guess. I cxan't find anything better than a fatbike now. I Just love the simplicity.

After studying that route you sent me Graham and knowing a lot of it very well as you know. There are a couple of sections that I think you should rethink, as not everyone has our bikehandling and a loaded bike would not be fun in places IMHO.
I appreciate finding the middle ground for all ability's is not easy.

Well done very inspiring! The only thing I'll add is to not take on too much if getting back into things like I did last year & exhausted my leg muscles took a good 6 months to get back on track . Increase millage 10-15% a week Not like I did lol.

A lot to be said for knowing where you’re going.
