Director : Let's use CGI
Tom : I am CGI ( Cruise Going Insane)
It's incredibly ironic yet on-brand that they were so distracted arguing about where the nuke was heading that you not only missed out most of Luther's cameo but he even says where it crashed. Turns out just letting a movie play out might actually answer some questions raised earlier.
Brad Bird did a good job on his very first live action feature
He's one of the best but underused directors ever
Such a unique feel alto every piece of his work and a very precise attention to detail
I love what Christopher McQuarrie did with the franchise after this film, but I always wonder what else Brad Bird would have brought to the table had he stayed on as director of the others, because he REALLY brought his A-game here, especially considering he's primarily an animation filmmaker and this was his first live action film.
You really see his unique attention to detail, humor and the setups for both his action and dramatic sequences, Brad Bird used in the Incredibles and Ratatouille, here in Ghost Protocol.❤
Fun fact, McQuarrie was brought in to rewrite a lot of the movie. He doesn't get a credit but there are numerous interviews/podcasts where they talk about his contributions.
One of my favorite running gags/themes of this movie is that basically NOTHING works right (except for the team like Ethan says at the end), not even the freaking phone that's supposed to self-destruct at the beginning. So I like to think Luther wasn't in the movie until the end because otherwise everything would've gone too smoothly and that would've ruined the theme lol
Everything went wrong except for that goggles ,that came in handy.
This one's my favourite. I love how they're all disavowed and all their tech is problematic and not working correctly. And no masks for once! It was kind of refreshing lol. And climbing that tall building was the part.
OK, this was hilarious. Go back and watch the moment when Lil one asks for Sugar Bear and Dad goes " Didn't you put him in a bin this mornin". She looks back and you can see her remembering that's where it is.. Hilarious 😂
If you see a beautiful woman walking, by herself, towards you down an alleyway. Expect her to be an assassin or at least trouble for you.
What amuses me is he probably would have been able to react in time to save his life if he hadn't been distracted by the phone beeping to tell him that she was an assasin.
I love that you recognized the guy that gives Ethan the mask from mission impossible 1. I never realized this until about two weeks ago, and I actually sent a tweet to the writer about it, and he actually direct messaged me back to discuss it. Apparently the original intention was to have Max from the original be the person he meets with, but there was some sort of scheduling conflicts and they couldn’t work it out. So they wrote that henchman in to be a little nod to the audience.
yeah, it totally sucked that the entire script was building up to a Max return, but it was wasted in this new dude we have never met. I remember seeing this in theaters and flipping out when I saw the blonde dude, then I lost my shit when Ethan had to wear that same mask.. then it was a total let down when it was a random dude
@@jamespetkwitz8737 yeah, I talked to Chris Macquarie about it, and they really wanted to work out but it just couldn’t get ironed out. But we eventually got Max’s daughter, which is a nice connection.
@@TheLastOfTheRockstarsU2I suppose I just would have preferred all connections to max being scrapped if they couldn't get her. I love Ghost Protocol, and in an otherwise great movie.. it's my biggest moan about it. Personally, why not just make the tall blonde guy the new max like he took over her spot after MI 1.. I would have loved that. but instead they popped in a new guy. Nah I'm good.
Your kids cameo in this reaction are the best
More of this Cameo's are Expecting
Came out near Christmas 2011.
Major upgrade for the franchise.
One of my favorite sequels.
Saw it in IMAX.
Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratoutoulle and The Iron Giant) did amazingly well with his first live-action film.
From part 3 onward, these sequels stay fully connected (thanks to J.J. Abrams as producer).
From part 4 onward, they utilize IMAX technology for core visual scenes.
This one definitely proved that Cruise is one of the best actors to ever do action period.
The cast (IMF, villains) was great.
Jeremy Renner was super busy between MI-4, the MCU and the Bourne franchise.
Not too many 4th installments are this good.
Lighting the fuse and the opening credits sequence is a direct bit of respect to the original television show.
As is the inclusion of incidental music from the show during throughout the movie.
The fact that each film gets closer and closer to being like the early seasons of the show, i.e. about teamwork and requiring the audience to pay attention, is not only what makes this installment great but is why the series continued to succeed.
FYI, the decoy room ploy comes directly from an episode of the television show.
RIP Michael Nyqvist
Speaking of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Anyone out there who hasn't seen the movie 'Thirteen Days' and is interested in that particular event, or simply likes historical films and/or Kevin Costner, would be doing themselves a huge favour to see it. Despite knowing exactly how it ends I've watched it maybe 8-10 times and it holds my attention from start to finish. Great movie.
Same here. Terrific movie!
Watching Mrs. watch Tom Cruise almost fall off skyscrapers is my new favorite thing.
Holy crap, cinnamon rolls and bacon in the morning, can I come😂. Great series, and that building stunt was so good. Directed by Brad Bird, one of his first live action movies. He directed Iron Giant, Incredibles series and Ratatouille.
This is my favorite of the 7 that are out so far. Paula Patton is my favorite “Hunt girl”, Jeremy Renner kicked ass. The Burj Kalifa/ sandstorm chase was awesome.
…and this is the first of the 4 that “Mrs. Movie” didn’t see the twist coming!😄
Lol, the reaction at 30:28 and the following conversation with sugar bear being in the bin was hilarious.
If I remember my Mythbusters correctly, high velocity rounds like those fired from rifles do not survive entry into water while low velocity rounds like handguns and sub machine guns will.
I am starting to believe you have a relative that pushes the kids through the door every episode ;)
Swear now I look forward to our little "guest stars" and your attempts to get them to bed every video now.😂
The city at the end was San Francisco.
I enjoyed his final fight scene with Tom Cruise more than his final fight scene with John Wick
Brad Bird did The lncredibles before this. Quite a transition!!
You have to have it to him, he knows how to make visceral, in-camera action scenes.
A lot of movies would just make a complete replica of a piece of the Burj, then CGI everything else. The BTS photo of him sitting at the top was anxiety inducing for mem
100% San Francisco where the missile landed.
Lol. “The zees are coming out of his mind.” Very cute and possibly very deep
😂yh I caught that too
Didn't the presence of the Transamerica Pyramid (that the nuke clipped) tip you off that it was San Francisco?
29:00 those kids are hilarious :) hope they are getting a cut haha
My theory about why the villain masquerades as his own henchman is that he was supposed to be Josh Holloway/Agent Hanaway who somehow faked his death. Would make sense because the reveal would have happened right after he was "avenged", and he's an actor you would cast for a bigger role. I think they realized that all three previous movies had an IMF traitor so far and decided against though.
Make sense. Thanks
Watching you guys debate between whether it was New York City or Los Angeles, back and forth, and then finding out it was San Francisco, was definitely worth the price of admission. Thanks for the laughs. :D
Yeah... but why San Francisco, though?
I thought it was Seatle because the location screen and the news report was in Seatle... why?
Just googled both Seatle and San Francisco skyline... It was SF... I stand corrected.
@@parker469aI assumed nuking a geographical fault would cause a good amount of earthquake activity.
@@chrisellis3797 I doubt that would do anything to effect a fault line 10 to 375 miles underground.
I love the fact Tom Cruise did his own stunts on the tower in Dubai but in real life if he had fallen that far and then managed to grab the window with one hand, it would've dislocated his arm at the shoulder.
Yes the physics in this movies sucked he would know way swing in to the building under that momentum or energy his angle and wind would have added more obstacles
The pointy building was the Prudential Building in San Francisco......
Tom cruise is one of those actors where I let how crazy they are slide because of the level of Talent. I mean Jackie Chan is the closest I can think to compare, and even then its a very flawed comparison. Either way, I'm always looking forward to see what crazy stuff Tom will try to do in another Mission Impossible movie.
Jackie Chan is crazy??
@@Thrui it's a flawed comparison he is more stunt crazy than actual crazy. But he is the only other celebrity I can think of that goes as hard on stunt work.
I don't think Tom is crazy at all in fact he's quite on the ball and down to earth from what I've observed
He has the Scientology bit but who cares
I thought I'd dislike him but he's actually very humble and polite and even tho not the best actor he is so likeable and so passionate about the character and film he's in it makes him who he is ... maybe the no1 most famous actor of the current times
Damn it! Now I want cinnamon rolls and bacon 😢
The most impressive technology in this movie is the vibration proof and sound proof train car that they meet up in.
Hes so cute theres little 💤 coming out of his mind
😅😂😂😂😂 28:50
Your kids are hilarious like you both
Also i was never sure there was two different ones lol😂
I feel like this is the part of the series when things really kicked up a gear.
Also, oh shit, it's Viggo from John Wick.
Those are some of the cutest technical difficulties I've ever experienced.
Not my fave, but I love Ethan shouting "Mission accomplished!" before slamming the button 🤣🤣🤣
They get better and better from here.
My favorite part of this reaction was arguing about which city the nuke landed in 😂 great video guys!
Pluto will always be a planet to me too! Justice for Pluto!!
Great reaction you two,I know your kiddies interrupted a couple of times but I think of a lot of us out here around the world think they're adorable..Stay safe and well. ❤
2:14 you actually see him throw a capsul to the floow in his jump, so he can land without dying.. Mrs movies.
This is one of my favorite MI installments, it's great from start to finish, shocked none of you has seen it before, you're so lucky to watch it for the first time, also how dare you now watch it for the first time !
1,4,3 (The second movie doesn't land for me at all, so i don't even count that one xD)
God I can’t wait until you get to 6(FALL OUT)! It’s probably the GREATEST Action film of all time.
as an acrophobe, that scene when Ethan has to jump in through the open window is the scariest thing i've ever had to watch, no matter how many times I've seen it
It was San Francisco!
Even though the movies get better each time, this one is my favorite of the franchise so far. It just hits everything just right for me.
I always assumed Hendricks wore the mask because getting the codes was too important to entrust to anyone else. And the target didn't matter to Hendricks, just that the Russians were firing a missile at America.
Omg, cinnamon rolls and bacon for breakfast? That's the dream. My parents were too Asian to let that be breakfast, haha.
28:51 Lol XD That extra applause was hilarious.
This is my favorite one! A great combination of action & comedy, love Benji! This one also has the best soundtrack IMHO.
Debut of Agent Brandt AKA Agent Exposition.
You got it right the first time. San Fran.
Great movie, appreciate the reaction
24:03 hahahah she squeezes his arm everytime she gets anxious. Kinda cute lol
Rogue Nation would be my favorite, but objectively Ghost Protocol is the best Mission Impossible movie.
Indeed
There are nooks anf creases in the rocks. This is a smooth surface, climbing it would be a nightmare.
Mission Impossible: What If All Our Tech Failed
*29:00** cinnamin rolls, bacone, apples and cheese. wish i was a Tamagotchi.* ive always wished that. thats unrelated. _JC
When she says "she's beautiful" my boy doesn't take the bait. Good for him lol
The nuke almost got San Francisco. C’mon guys.
Me: "She didn't catch the funniest moment!"
Ethan: "No shit!"
29:11 Cinnamon rolls AND bacon?! awesome!
"LA, Washington DC, No New York. No LA." Good lord. The geographical inaccuracy is pretty hilarious. But San Francisco ya'll lol.
The BMW i8 was the concept car BMW was using for the auto show circuit to introduce it. BMW loaned the i8 for filming and then had an i8 on display at the Hollywood Premiere of the movie.
I never seen your other girl before. They both have your faces! ^_^ So adorable!
Great reaction to another great MI movie......the Mrs response to Ethan almost falling off the building TWICE was priceless. Now i am of to have little Z's come out of my mind.
guest appearances from your little angles is always the highlight😍😍
If you want Pluto counted as a planet, then you must also include the other four dwarf planets. Also, there are dozens of other astronomical objects awaiting consideration.
Plus, Pluto was discovered by an American, and we can't have that 😊
So you are telling me the astrology chart is total BS? 🤔 😊
Wait Cinnamon Rolls AND Bacon?! What a lucky little girl.
My fear of heights gets the best of me in this movie.
. . . AND BACOOOOOOOONNN!!!!!!!!!
Cinnamon rolls and bacon?! Yes please.
It was San Francisco.
The bridge you saw while arguing cities is actually the Granville Island Bridge in Vancouver, Canada
The IMF has to be the most inept intelligence organization EVER. Literally ever movie is about either traitors or catastrophic mistakes LMAO
Hey, Mr. and Mrs.! The missile clipped the TransAmerica Building! That's THE iconic building of San Francisco in ANY establishing shot of the city! It's like the Sears Tower in Chicago or the Chrysler Building in New York. It's an internationally recognizable landmark! SMH.
Sears tower? Nope...its the Willis tower. It will always be the Willis tower. (LOL I'm just kidding )
I feel like the Mission Impossible movies main mission is to upstage each Bond film
Even I knew it was San Francisco......and I'm from Sweden!!
😂😅
I"m with you guys,Pluto IS still a planet!!!!!!
22 : 36 Mrs Movies calm down 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the best one, absolutely. The next ones are also good but by then some of the tropes are getting old, and the action and plot feel very generic. In this movie the set pieces are just so...FANTASTIC and nail biting.
I agree.
This one's loads of fun!
Mrs’s favorite Lost character, ‘Sawyer’ 😅!
You didn't seem to notice but Michael Nyqvist, who played Hendricks in this movie, also played Viggo Tarasov (the daddy) in John Wick.
Oh, and Mr. Movie was right about San Francisco, but Mrs. Movie, it should've been obvious ... they "bad guys" wanted to "blow some shit up" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 (c'mon, you KNOW you get it). Finally, No Ethan couldn't be with Julia because even after he retires, people will still be coming after him, so he'd ALWAYS be putting her life in danger. Remember, just like a Marine, once an IMF agent, ALWAYS an IMF agent ... you NEVER really get to retire or have a family.
One of the Best movies Ever!! ( not just a MI)
It was San Francisco. The Transamerica pyramid was a dead giveaway, lol.
Tom cruise was actually climbing on the side of the building
It always bothers me when people don’t realize Tom
cruise is actually doing those crazy stunts
And he's like KNOWN for it so I don't understand how they forgot that.
@@SubterrelProspector exactly, it's known. We don't need to point it out every time like simps.
Naval base at Alameda and the Lawrence Livermore Labs where the US Nuclear arsenal is built. The San Francisco Bay Area is a major first strike target.
I just noticed the bad guy is also Vigo from John Wick 😮
Ffs guys its San Francisco. Don't second guess yourselves! Lol great reaction. This one is my favorite Mission.
Cinnamon rolls and bacon? Can I live with you guys??!!
High velocity bullets would be even worse to shoot at water. The faster something hits water the more water acts like a hard surface such as concrete. High velocity rounds would be smashed when they hit the surface. But it makes things more exciting if they go through. Otherwise I guess lots of shootouts would have people diving into water to get away.
23:36 - that's not CGI or stuntwork- that's Tom Cruise running down Burj al Khalifa.
No one ever sees him throw the inflatable pad
Seriously, he's holding a device that makes a charging sound and throws it down just before jumping, and everyone is like "Where did that cushion come from?!"
Yeah I thought everybody saw him throw it
it's funny what tom cruise have a really good russian accent, when he speak russian
Paula Patton is my fav cause she's easy on the eyes. This is my second least favorite. I rank em 1 & 3 tied for first then 6, 5, 4, 2. This isn't bad at all. But not my favorite. Aside from the tall buillding I don't find Dubai a memorable destination or cinematic location.
cinnamon rolls AND bacon?? damn, can i come over?
They were just trying to start WW3, so, the landing/impact would've 'got the ball rolling' as the bad guy said.
It was San Francisco. The building is the Transamerica Pyramid.
