This was the last one of these I saw in theaters. No idea why I haven't seen any of the later ones, as I heard they were really good. I ran a theater when this came out.
Personally, I think 6 has the best stunts, but I haven't seen 7 yet. Also, do you think you might play The Last of Us before next year? Seems like the PC version has gotten pretty stable by now.
My favorite stunt is from the newest one, Dead Reckoning Part I, and it involves the Orient Express. No spoilers, but let's just say Ethan + train = chaos and destruction, lol.

This was my favorite one of the series. If you thought it looked scary when Tom was climbing around on the building you should have seen it on the big screen.
My favorite Simon Pegg movie probably is Hot Fuzz, but I can really recommend the mini-series SPACED, which was co-written by Pegg and directed by Edgar Wrigth, who also directed Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. One episode of SPACED was the inspiration for them to do Shaun of the Dead.

Hey, Veronique! The sandstorm getaway unmasking was Hendricks revealing his face under a Wistrom mask! Hendricks pretended to come to the exchange at the Burj Khalifa as his own henchman. There were only two baddies: Hendricks and henchman Wistrom. The Russian cop was a misguided third party complicating the situation. The late Michael Nyqvist is best known as the intrepid journalist from the original Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" starring Noomi Rapace. Nyqvist passed in 2017 from lung cancer.

I love this movie so much. Probably my favorite MI entry (very close with 3). The villain is not as good as PSH was in 3, but still fine. But the action pieces and the humor were just SOOOO good. And then the double twist with Ethan's wife was just the cherry on top.
I can't imagine a villain in MI being as great as PSH :D But the action scenes and the stunts were a step above the rest! I'm not sure if I prefer 3 or 4, I will say I like them both equally for different reasons lol

In mild defense of the rotating women problem, they actually tried to get back Maggie Q (the woman on the team from MI3) back for both Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, and tried to get back Paula Patton for Rogue Nation, but both actors were locked into tv contracts at the time which didn't give them the option of coming back. Of course that doesn't change what actually happens on screen, and two actresses being unable to come back wouldn't have created the issue if there wasn't for the weird 'only one woman on the team at a time' pattern. Still, it makes me feel a bit better knowing that from MI3 on there was at least some effort to stop rotating out the women, rather than the creators viewing 'new woman every film' as some sort of weird perk/hallmark of the series.
My first introduction to the mission impossible franchise and i loved watching this in the cinemas when it came out. Personally my favourite Simon Pegg movie is Shaun of the Dead hands down, I'm a big zombie fan. The whole Cornetto trilogy is great tho and a big part of my childhood and i rewatch them pretty much every year.
My favourite Mission Impossible love the prison scene,new characters,the kremlin mission and off course my personal favourite the Burj Khalifa scene. Greaf reaction as always Verowak😊
That fuse in the intro is an homage to the intro of the TV series from the 60s that these movies are based on. That show was also Leonard Nimoy's next major role after playing Spock on the original Star Trek series.

There were times when his character would wear a mask and there were storylines where his character would just impersonate someone without a Mask (hoping that the target had never met the person Nimoy's character was impersonating). Both Star Trek and Mission Impossible were filmed at Desilu Studios in the mid to late 60's. Even William Shatner made a few guest appearances on the show as a criminal. The next time Shatner and Nimoy appeared on-screen together would be in Shatner's police tv series T.J Hooker
Ethan didn't survive that 300' drop straight into solid concrete. The rest of the series is a very long reimagining of An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge.

1:10 I have only seen Pegg in the “Cornetto” trilogy and in the Mission Impossible movies. Nowhere else I think. My favourite Pegg movie is MI3. Great villain, and a return to the mire group-oriented style of the TV shows, instead of the one-character focus in MI1 and 2.

But they havent shoot in budapest sadly, the interior shot of the train station is from prague haha

It never fails to thrill me. Trivia: I thought that motorized parking structure actually existed somewhere, but it didn't: They actually constructed it! Wow! 😮
This was directed by Brad Bird, who also directed The Incredibles and Ratatouille (among other great things), so it has a slightly "cartoony" feel to it (some of Benji's humor, the tech always failing, some slapstick humor...). But yeah, THIS is the movie that truly re-invigorated the franchise and the reason the M:I movies have the good reputation they have nowadays. Apparently, the filmmakers were having trouble with GP's story and the characters' arcs, so Cruise brought in his long time collaborator and friend Christopher McQuarrie, who re-wrote large chunks of the movie while they were still filming it (fun fact: Julia was actuallly dead before McQuarrie came in, but he thought that would render M:I 3 pointless, so he changed her fate). The movie turned out so well, both critically and financially, that Tom Cruise offered him the job to directed the next one, which ended up being Rogue Nation (and the same thing happened after RN's success, lol; McQuarrie has stayed on as a writer/director since then, being the only director in the franchise to direct more than one movie). Even though he re-wrote a lot of GP, it's very much still a Brad Bird movie tonally speaking, so I can't wait for you to see the full-on Christopher McQuarrie movies, 'cause they're more serious and character-driven movies than the past entries.

As cool as the hallway screen trick was, it relied on that hallway being completely free of obstructions. I don't know many real, working buildings where people don't frequently leave stuff in hallways for various reasons, like broken office furniture left out for trash collection.
It's a couple beers into the night, to preface my next statement: Verowak makes being a lady look so much fun. I can't lie though, I really like being a boi who enjoys and appreciates ladies though, or more specifically, a boi who enjoys m'lady of 13 years. We'll have some snuggings after I take our girls to school in the morning. Shhhhh, secrets! Verowak still makes me jellies that she gets to be the lady she is though :P
Great commentary and reaction! This is such s fun series. This movie does have the weakest villains because they're practically non speaking parts. If they had a scene or two that gave them character it would have helped a lot.

At the end he didnt throw the case (i think) cause he wanted it to be safe (i guess thats necessary?) also if his plan goes through and there will be nuclear war, he will most likely die, so...finally a villain who dont think they are above everyone else lmao
I think the main reason people like this movie more than M:I 3 is because of the team dynamic. Apart from Luther, the IMF team of part 3 is pretty forgettable and barely do anything, while the team members in Ghost Protocol actually have stuff to do and have arcs of their own.

My one criticism of this movie is that there were, in fact, no ghosts present, nor was their a protocol in place to deal with them

Michelle Monaghan plays the wife, and a good movie with her is "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" ... starring Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer.

Apart from Luther, the IMF team of part 3 is pretty forgettable and barely do anything, while the team members in Ghost Protocol actually have stuff to do and have arcs of their own.
