This narrative Prequel to currents really took me by surprise. The commitment to style, aesthetic and sonic expression made this album a very special experience. It contains a rough emotional edge that contrasts the easy-going and progressive nature of currents.
Live album parties every friday & ART! ► / urpheity
Fav Track: Nothing that has happened so far has been anything we could control.
Least Fav Track: None. - Hudba
Hey guys! My video on The Slow Rush is live!
czcams.com/video/wciXMUPrRkI/video.html
Dude incredible reaction and analysis! I’ve been obsessed with Tame Impala for years now and I’m fascinated by the way you listen and interpret the music and how you describe it. It’s given me a new perspective in comparison to my own. Very cool. Cheers!
Edit: You have to listen to Melodys Echo Chamber - Melodys Echo Chamber if you really love Kevin’s music and production. It’s a psychedelic rock/pop album. Basically Meoldy is a French girl Kevin used to date years ago and he did the music on her first album while she sings her stuff on top and it’s sooo good. I think you’d really love it.
Hearing Kevin’s production on someone else’s vocals...now that’s something I never knew I needed! Ill check it out!
Urph Yup Kevin is amazing he produced the song repeat after me (interlude) by the weeknd you can hear his vocals at the beginning of the track
Keep on Lying is a masterpiece.
The best tame Imapala song ever. Underrrated
Apocalypse dreams is one of the best songs of all time imo
This is the most wholesome reaction on YT.
You're too sweet!
this was such a joy to watch/listen!!! been missing lonerism and this felt like a combination of listening for the first time, and listening with a friend. your analysis was 10/10 and refreshing. well done:)
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m glad my silly video was able to offer you a bit more out of an album you like. I look for the same in reaction videos of my fav albums! Cheers!
honestly one of the best reviews of this album i've seen, and easily deserves much more attention. I've seen so many channels with much higher sub counts where honestly the quality of production/review is so much lower. Well done my man. :)
edit: i know the count is hidden i'm just judging by views lol
dude great analysis and expression of the album. lonerism is my favorite tame impala album and love hearing others perspective to it
clicking on this in my recommended, the editing caught me off guard, and i was expecting to find myself in the midst of someone's channel with a decent following - instead, i found a gem - your reviews are VERY in depth for a first impression, and i enjoy it greatly! Here's to growth, you deserve it!
And, if there were any album/artist I'd like to see your opinion of, definitely Blood Orange - Negro Swan - it's very sonically pleasing
It’s slow but, I’m trying my best. As long as good people like you find value in it, I’m extremely happy. Thanks for the kind words!
@@marnotreally only thing is u need som drip 💧
thank you
InnerSpeaker next!!!! I have so many suggestions the weather by pond. Kevin used to be the drummer and still produces all their albums. Melody’s echo chamber self title album. Finally King Gizzard and the Lizard wizard!! Most prolific band currently making music. Twitch album listens sound dope, can’t wait to listen there.
Listening with a good group of people is always a hoot since many of them will be hearing it for the first time too! I’ve been listening to King Gizzard for years now but never actually knew which album came before which tbh. Do you have a favourite? They alternate styles and roles a lot it seems.
@@marnotreally So far i have only listened to three king giz albums so far i really liked Float along- Fill your lungs and Sketches of Brunswick East. Pond is my fav current band and they are from perth like Tame Impala and king giz. There must be something in the water there, Perth is reviving rock in the U.S.
Agreed, gotta listen to Innerspeaker next and Pond has plenty of great albums like The Weather and Tasmania too.
Nathan Lisbey I actually like Tasmania more than The weather but I think The weather is more popular.
Loved this review as well as the Currents one. Thanks for posting man, so happy to hear you enjoyed and related to Lonerism as much as I did!! When or if you get the time I’d love to hear a reaction to Innerspeaker or the Melody’s Echo Chamber album (which Kevin produced around the same time as this and co-wrote a few songs for). Subbed :))
I’m debating on which ones to do first but thanks for your sweet comment and your sub! Lonerism was a rare masterpiece in exactly the way I like them.
This is one of my favorite albums ever, really enjoyed your reaction! Honestly idk if it’s your style but I would love to see your reaction to a Between the Buried and Me album, I think Coma Ecliptic is the most accessible and that would be my first recommendation, it’s a prog metal band’s rock opera.
Can I expect The Slow Rush anytime soon? Loving the in depth reviews, keep it up man 👍
Definitely this week! I’ll be moving soon so I’ll make sure that’s filmed, edited and uploaded ASAP!
Yet another great reaction. Loved watching you trip out at the end😂 priceless. Such a great album. Can’t wait for InnerSpeaker reaction, that album was my favourite on high rotation for quite a while (still is really) and showcases more psychedelic rock which l know you’re a fan of. There is also another Ep before that that brought them to the attention of the public and charts here in Australia (more raw psych rock)You should check that one out as well. Cheers, keep it up 👍🏻
Kevin’s catalogue continues to surprise me. Very cool stuff!
This is another great reaction. Just from watching other reaction videos, I think the best thing you could do is try to watch albums with very big fan bases that put you out of your comfort zone slightly. I think you have a lot of potential to blow up because you don't miss anything. Somehow you understand the albums more on your first listen than me listening for the 50th time.
What albums would you suggest I direct my attention to?
@@marnotreally maybe something by Gorillaz or Loveless by My Bloody Valentine? Maybe something people consider a classic that you've never heard. You seem like you've heard a lot of music so it's hard to tell.
he actually has a song called led zeppelin from the lonerism sessions
It’s so good. That one and Alter Ego were my introductions to Tame. Incredible songs
Forget Led Zeppelin, Tame Imapala is about the Syd Barret Pink Floyd
You have to do The Slow Rush as well. Just the rest of his discography, please!
Hahahaha I’ll definitely get to it! Thank you!!
Elephant 29:10 Pls enjoy!
You should also check out all of Tame Impala’s B-sides and the single Patience, they are really good.
Thank you! I have a lot of homework to look forward too haha!
Best album from this century
And one of the best albums of all time.
Stop smoking crack
You should definitely check out Melody’s Echo Chamber’s first album! It’s somewhat similar to Lonerism and was written partially by Kevin Parker (Tame Impala).
I saw from Kevin’s interviews that he actually collaborated heavily on projects in the past so it would be interesting to see if Kevin’s distinct styles works with other artists!
Yeeees!
Great reaction! This is definitely my favorite tame impala album.
Top 3 songs for me is apocalypse dreams, why won't they talk to me, elephant (honorable mention: nothing that has happened so far has been anything we could control, keep on lying)
I find that this album has had more of a recurring presence in my life than any other tame impala project so far. With slow rush being a close second. As much as I love currents, it requires more than a casual listen!
@@marnotreally I agree, this album was kind of like "perfect place, perfect time" for me. I heard it because of fantano. In 2012 I was suffering from depression and this album really spoke to me. Which is why I love this album more than the others.
@@genesisosuna kinda curious on how an album with that kind of title helped you out while having depression. PS: I hope you are fine now :)
You should listen to elephant and apocalypse dreams back to back at Lalapalooza 2019. Maybe the best back to back performance ever.
My favorite album of all time, also Apocalypse Dreams is TI’s magnum opus
Nah Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control is hands down the magnum opus of Kevin :)
@@niggato23 I have this debate in my head constantly
Runway Houses City Clouds?
Remembering how keep on lying's atmosphere used to scare me
Bruh
After tame impala listen to the voidz one of my favorite alt groups both the first album and the second are crazy
Hahahaha Tyranny and Virtue are some of my favourite albums of all times! I love them with a passion, especially what Julian brought to the table!
@@marnotreally his voice is literally one of the best instruments they use in each song
Hi, try listen to his live rendition of apocalypse dreams its good af
Mesmerising!
Can you do ASAP rocky testing? I would like to know what you think about the album or some frank ocean!
I love ASAP but he hasn’t done what he could have in music tbh. Frank, on the other hand, is just not my cup of tea. Blond is amazing but it’s not as good as everyone says imo
Keep on Lying the best tame Impala song ever
i agree
36:26 lmao
Even if Currents is a great record and has an incredible production (or mix whatever), I still think that Lonerism is better than Currents, in my opinion it's Kevin Parker's magnum opus for the moment
Lonerism really is unique.
Yeah, in Lonerism all the instruments are there when needed, Kevin really had to think about the composition of it since it is the mid point between InnerSpeaker and Currents, this means that he needed to balance the synths with the guitars and stuff. Everything in this album is amazing, the lyrics, the drums, the bass (holy jesus the amount of great basslines this album has), the guitars and the synths.
You need to listen to JPEGMAFIA and clipping.
I love Peggy, cornballs is one of my all time favourites and Clipping is already on my radar!
