I will never forget that moment, Porter speaks to me in a way no one else does. During Blossom there was dead silence in that crowd of several thousand people. Truly in the moment and true magic.

HERE IT IS! Had to watch this for my lunch break at work thx for such a high quality reaction - your insight on wind tempos on the instrumental is such a comment to have as many people don't understand the meaning of it thank you so much! 32:45 I experienced it live at secret sky and was such a surreal experience typical on mirror being inbetween Shelter and Sad machine... Highly recommended you watch the liveset when you can the visuals are incredible
I know you breezed through them but Mother and Mirror really grows on you, especially when you further listen to the lyrics while putting your life to perspective. At first I didn't enjoy the two, but I knew that their lyrics hold much meaning, and now they're really great songs for me.
I really liked your discussion here, I feel like I interpreted the album in a completely different way so your perspective makes me appreciate Nurture even more
Have you heard of Flume? Similar vibes. Honestly you could react to any of his albums/mixtapes. They’re truly incredible and like porter, ahead of the game. Also the visualiser for his “Hi This Is Flume” mixtape is amazing. And filmed in my hometown.

If you want to cry, next time you need to react to shelter (but the official AMV not just to the song) check it out on Porter's channel. Or even to his other creation under the name of Virtual Self if you want a more OSU or dance dance revolution vibe. (it was made between world and nurture)
I really appreciated your perspective on this album. Some reactions are very analytical and fail to see the spiritual/emotional side of the music. Hearing you speak about the places that the music takes you relates to me very deeply. Thank you!
*(This comment is extremely long so click Read More if you really want to spend time knowing the album a bit more.)* I know this video is a month old but I wanted to leave a few things you might want so you can get to know the album a bit better. I do want to say, it’s harder to look at the album in parts. I think it’s best understood as one path. A path of Porter trying and fighting against himself to see why he’s unable to make music that felt good. If he can’t keep the expectations of the fans after Worlds’ game. You asked for the dates for when the production started for the album and luckily, Porter provided that exact thing. *Nurture* - [06/14/2015 - 12/18/2020 ] Something Comforting - [ 06/14/2015-08/03/2019 ] Look At The Sky - [ 03/31/2016-02/11/2020 ] Lifelike - [ 08/28/2016-12/17/2020 ] Get Your Wish - [ 10/15/2018-12/17/2019 ] Unfold - [ 10/01/2018-01/21/2020 ] Sweet Time - [ 12/14/2018-08/13/2020 ] Mirror - [ 04/06/2019-03/23/2020 ] Blossom - [ 08/02/2019, Done same day ] Mother - [ 11/25/2018-12/01/2020 ] Wind Tempos - [ 03/10/2019-10/23/2019 ] dullscythe - [ 09/05/2019-07/01/2020 ] Musician - [ 11/16/2019-08/13/2020 ] do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do - [ 02/26/2020-10/08/2020 ] Trying To Feel Alive - [ 08/16/2020-12/12/2020 ] I'll also write something Porter has said about each song, maybe you’ve read some of this but there’s a bit more info you’d need to dig a bit deeper to find here. *Lifelike* Porter has always been obsessed with the idea of a window to nature and Lifelike sort of imitates that. He often finds himself in the recording studios and staring out the window like he's in a forest. And that's what inspired the aesthetic of the album. Just like the song covers for singles, this song takes you from the black void on the cover into all the things that he felt were worth showing. *Look at the Sky* Look at the Sky is fundamentally about hope, a will to imagine a future where you're happier and have overcome the difficulties you face now, basically picturing your happily ever after. (We'll come back to that in a bit.) The music video also layered in a different meaning where we, as people, never truly do anything alone. People have paved the way for us, even if we don't know them. If we were truly by ourselves, we would never be able to create the idea of harmony, rhythm, let alone build a piano or program music software. The ghosts in the video are the people who have made the way and guided you to where you are now. *Get Your Wish* This song was sort of a big "why?" to himself. WHY was he killing himself to make new music? WHAT is he hoping to achieve? He was lost and didn't understand what he was doing. This song was a moment of realization where he finally answers that question. He is an artist people depend on when they have a hard time and to feel better. And if he felt that even if one person can come back to his music and get back some happiness or nostalgia, he's okay with that. Once he realized that, the world opened up. *Wind Tempos* It's left up to interpretation what this song's meaning is. This song was inspired by a Japanese pianist named Masakatsu Takagi. Takagi's music taught him music doesn't need to feel like it's from otherworldly fantasies, they can be intimate and close. He actually visited Takagi's house and while I won't write all the details here, he had received ambient Japanese music CD from Takagi which then inspired this song. There's even a small moment where Takagi playing a toy piano is sampled, albeit heavily distorted. *Musician* Musician was a really strange one in the sense it's one of the last songs made for the album and became this burst of happy energy in the center of the song and the main girl vocal chops you hear are actually sampled from an usused 2019 Kero Kero Bonito collaboration. This song is just a sort of a hell no to self-doubt where he just feels free and invincible when making music and nobody can tell him otherwise. He actually had an early version of the song that was even more crazy than this one. No lyrics with eight or so key changes. That early demo was later played in his Secret Sky 2021/Nurture Live set. This is Porter's favorite song. *do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do* Not much to say here other than Porter had fun with this one. From his tweet about this song, he claims to have fallen twice when rollerblading to this song. do-re-mi was also inspired by him listening to Cornelius for the first time, people kept telling him he was gonna love Cornelius' work and so he avoided it for a while. Once he listened, he managed to create this song afterwards. Also this song isn't in C Major despite what the title suggests. *Mother* This song becomes really subjective to the listener in my opinion. You could have likely pieced this together but this song was about the grief of growing up and moving out. He thought he would never be able to see his parents or dog again, even if that wasn't the case at all. I can't remember where he said this but I'm pretty sure he wrote this song thinking about his brother, Mark, when he got diagnosed with cancer. *dullscythe* The first half has no tempo. This started out as an interlude idea and definitely became the most experimental song on the album. Porter liked this chaotic track in the middle of the album. He described this song as "getting smacked around in a thousand directions." *Sweet Time* This song is a big thank you to his girlfriend, Rika. It's about being in love with someone so much that for the first time, you're scared to die and that both of you are not guaranteed an eternity together. It's his expression of gratitude to her love throughout all his hard times. The lyric "Since I met you, I don't wanna die no more" gave him doubts that it might have been too direct, but he couldn't get away from it and it made it in the song. *Mirror* He says that this is likely the biggest grower of the album. This song is, down to its core, about doubt and shame. This song was about his worst inner-voices. He was always afraid of what the critics say, imagining the absolute worst things they can say. He tried to withdraw from that, pushing himself to make this "perfect" album. But as he says in his tweet about the song, it doesn't help. It only makes you smaller. Mirror is about facing those inner-voices. *Something Comforting* This. This song. The main lead in the chorus was written back in 2015, a time where he thought he couldn't make music and was stuck in the same mental place. He closed himself off from any inspiration that could have helped him make music. He was stuck inside the same studio, unable to do anything. This song is about trying to cope with one of his darkest times. *Blossom* The most emotional song he's ever written in this album. This song was actually fully written and finished in a single day. He recalls bawling his eyes out writing Blossom. This is yet again, another thank you love letter to his girlfriend, Rika. He imagined her being surrounded by everyone she loved and getting everything she wanted. The happiest she could ever be. The thought of your loved one being nothing but happy. Wouldn't that be nice? *Unfold (Feat. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)* While we don't get an official meaning to this song, it might be about his struggles to cope with the fact that he's changed and accepting this fact that he's not the same Porter who made Worlds but still carries the fame of it. The unfolding of water likely means unfolding what has made you so sad and seeing how it actually made you better. TEED was the one who started the idea by telling Porter how he would have written Porter's "Sea of Voices." This song was the result of going through with that vision. *Trying to Feel Alive* The last song also written for the album. Basically him asking himself, "Have I learned anything from this? Did I improve?" He tried so hard to end this album with him finally finding the "happily ever after" he pictured in Look at the Sky. But...that's not real life. There is never a happily ever after. You don't need to feel satisfied in life, you never can. Validation and satisfaction is a cup with a hole at the bottom. It'll never be filled. It's a trap. We all just try to keep living our lives, trying again and again to be happy. And his life is dedicated to making other people happy and making music, just like he said in Get Your Wish and Musician. And to him, that's what he sees as the perfect ending to the album. He's not in his happily ever after, and that's okay. There's also an exclusive Japanese track called "フルムーン・ララバイ" or "fullmoon lullaby." You can try to find it online or you can buy the Japanese CD for it. I highly suggest watching to his Nurture Live set which he has uploaded on his CZcams. And if you want to interact with some of the songs, his website is basically a small online game with each single (minus Musician) having an area for you to interact with in some capacity, mostly just recreations of the music videos. If you read through all of this, I hope you understood this album just a little bit more and I thank you for taking the time to read all of this!

@@marnotreally I always think back to an idea brought up in that one Dr Who episode: "Once you've used the whole universe as your backyard, it just becomes a backyard. But through you, I can see it again," and that's sort of how reaction videos are to me. I've sat with Nurture for a long time in isolation to the point that my opinion and perception of it have mostly solified, but watching other people listen to it (or listening to it with other people) gives a new perspective and almost acts like a second first listen in a way.
Yo, the comparison to a margherita pizza is actually perfect. There's a ton of slack margherita pizzas out there, but the real deal is rare, beautiful and bursting with so much flavor. Like where does all that flavor even come from??!

I hate to say that you 'might' of missed a track from the album. I guess it's depending on the way you look at it, nurture had an exclusive track only on Japanese copies of the album called 'Fullmoon Lullaby' featuring Wednesday Campanella. (Also my interpretation of dullscythe as a track is a blade that progressively gets sharper as the track goes on, cutting more smooth and with ease instead of jagged and rough. 😉)
I love you interpretation. Also, interesting what you said about the exclusive track. If it’s in the version that’s not available to me then I hardly think I missed it hahaha. I consumed the album the way it was available to me. I’ll check it out separately.

I loved the video brother! you should react to melody's echo Chamber album, produced by the legendary Kevin Parker, I think you will like it, peace and love. 🇧🇷
No hate at all, just a little advice from someone who loves album reactions. You speak to much over the songs and we don’t get to see you enjoying the song, cus your talking over it. So it ends up being more of a commentary than a reaction. I love your thoughts and what you say, but I’d be cool if you listen to the song and then do the commentary! :)
Yeah I know but there’s another issue. The video would get taken down for copyright infringement. It needs to be my own video if I wanna put it up on CZcams. If it’s just me listening to a song quietly or pausing, it will get taken down and I won’t be able to dispute it. It’s like piracy. It had to somehow transform and become unique to me.
however i would like to see some more electronic music reviews! maybe Justice, SebastiAn, Four Tet, burial, disclosure, against all logic, bicep, flume, gesaffelstein, kaytranada, crystal castles, pendulum, jon hopkins. there is so much good electronic music out there to be found that i just do see a whole bunch on music review youtube

VOCAL CHOPS IN MUSCIAN IS A UNRELEASED KERO KERO BONITO SAMPLE, AND APPARENTLY SOME OF THE LYRICS WERE BY HER
Also by this tweet, the mastermind behind Muscian is DJ Potaro: twitter.com/porterrobinson/status/1385658993738145792?s=20
You’ve finally done it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Margherita pizza is solid too
Ah. A fellow pizza enthusiast I see.
He's back with another HGIH QUALITY review!

@@marnotreally literally one of the only music reviewers i look forward to
Crying in 145.2 bpm rn
There is also another song that was exclusive to the Japan release. It's called fullmoon lullaby
Welcome back
Feels good to be back my dude. Hopefully we stream soon.
Dude i love your energy man. Thanks for being so vulnerable, i can relate to you a lot
Love your approaches to Porters Music man, I definitely see myself in your commentary and reactions in this one. I listened to Worlds awhile ago so I didn't entirely remember exactly what I felt when I first listened to it. But then this Album came out, and I remember having to finish up some things so I couldn't listen to it immediately when it came out. I did eventually listen to this album and then you released this video, and I remember my reactions to each song perfectly because they were fairly fresh in my mind, and I gotta say, you mirror a ton of them lol. Hope your doing well! I love your stuff dude
Porter is a Amazingly talented Edm artist and nurture Proves it even more
I think the label of EDM artist is too limiting. The influence on the project is much more expansive.
The best Nurture review I've seen! Amazing yes yes yes
Thank you thank you thank you hahahah
Also yes!! Wind Tempos is a Masterpiece. I can understand why sweet time is your least fav track, it is mine too; But relistens made me appreciate it too.
THEY RETURN!
WITH A DOG!
[it's Eridan by the way, I changed my name to not be a fandom reference]

Hey man, I've binged your videos for the past week. I love your content man, you're an amazing person. Keep on trucking, there are so many people working to get through things along side you. Your content provides a great escape by focusing on music. Keep making content pls
Thank you so much! I know our struggle is more universal right now, and we’re all more alike that we aren’t when it comes to hardship. I’m right here for you and for myself through this outlet. I’m still not sure what video to do next but something will come your way regardless! Much love from my end to you and yours ❤️
39:10 did he really say that omg
Imagine porter seeing this, he'd be so satisfied, but maybe he doesn't need to feel satisfied, maybe its a gift that he could recognize, just trying to feel alive
I wanna go through all the live shows with as many of you guys on stream at some point! Thanks so much for the kind words.
@@marnotreally No problems, keep up the grind man!
Have you seen Nurture Live? Life-changing show
The tour never touched the part of the world where I lived - maybe in the next one
love your reactions! subscribed
Thanks for subbing dude!
Trust me hearing Blossom live a month ago had everyone tearing up.
Been waiting for you to finally do a review on this one since the release. Hope you'll do more EDM album reactions in the future! ❤
He did it!
With thoughts and prayers for sure
I loved your worlds reaction and now......THIS!!!!!
Did you like the video? Hhahaha
LETS GOOO YOURE BACK!!!!!!
I know you breezed through them but Mother and Mirror really grows on you, especially when you further listen to the lyrics while putting your life to perspective. At first I didn't enjoy the two, but I knew that their lyrics hold much meaning, and now they're really great songs for me.
I really liked your discussion here, I feel like I interpreted the album in a completely different way so your perspective makes me appreciate Nurture even more
Porter uploaded his secret sky set on his channel. Would love to see a reaction to that as well.
Alright, Marwan, time for Smile! :D.
Have you heard of Flume? Similar vibes. Honestly you could react to any of his albums/mixtapes. They’re truly incredible and like porter, ahead of the game. Also the visualiser for his “Hi This Is Flume” mixtape is amazing. And filmed in my hometown.
Blossom.. Heartbreaking 😢
recorded at 3:00 am, what a time to listen to nurture lol.
I actually messaged you on Twitter to react to this hahaha
this reaction and layout is a vibe
I'm going to see Porter live in the fall for the nurture live tour and ya already know i'm gonna be droppin tears.
Honestly everyone are vibing hard, But blossom hits and everyone who reacts starts crying 😂 including me
This álbum help me and make me smile every time i Heard a song, i hope that it can make more people happy at least just for a moment
Thank you!
*(This comment is extremely long so click Read More if you really want to spend time knowing the album a bit more.)*
I know this video is a month old but I wanted to leave a few things you might want so you can get to know the album a bit better.

I'll also write something Porter has said about each song, maybe you’ve read some of this but there’s a bit more info you’d need to dig a bit deeper to find here.
*Lifelike*
Porter has always been obsessed with the idea of a window to nature and Lifelike sort of imitates that. He often finds himself in the recording studios and staring out the window like he's in a forest. And that's what inspired the aesthetic of the album. Just like the song covers for singles, this song takes you from the black void on the cover into all the things that he felt were worth showing.
*Look at the Sky*
Look at the Sky is fundamentally about hope, a will to imagine a future where you're happier and have overcome the difficulties you face now, basically picturing your happily ever after.
*Get Your Wish*
This song was sort of a big "why?" to himself.
*Wind Tempos*
It's left up to interpretation what this song's meaning is.
*Musician*
Musician was a really strange one in the sense it's one of the last songs made for the album and became this burst of happy energy in the center of the song and the main girl vocal chops you hear are actually sampled from an usused 2019 Kero Kero Bonito collaboration.
*do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do*
Not much to say here other than Porter had fun with this one.
*Mother*
This song becomes really subjective to the listener in my opinion.
*dullscythe*
The first half has no tempo. This started out as an interlude idea and definitely became the most experimental song on the album. Porter liked this chaotic track in the middle of the album. He described this song as "getting smacked around in a thousand directions."
*Sweet Time*
This song is a big thank you to his girlfriend, Rika.
*Mirror*
He says that this is likely the biggest grower of the album.
*Something Comforting*
This.
*Blossom*
The most emotional song he's ever written in this album.
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs)*
While we don't get an official meaning to this song, it might be about his struggles to cope with the fact that he's changed and accepting this fact that he's not the same Porter who made Worlds but still carries the fame of it. The unfolding of water likely means unfolding what has made you so sad and seeing how it actually made you better. TEED was the one who started the idea by telling Porter how he would have written Porter's "Sea of Voices." This song was the result of going through with that vision.
*Trying to Feel Alive*
The last song also written for the album.
Dude a thumbnail of your World's reaction video was on one of Porter's visuals for his Second Sky set.
Woah you are back! So happy you are one of my favorite reviewers of all time
That’s a massive compliment!!! Thank you so much. I’m glad you can get something insightful from all my emotional rambling.
Yesss
14:24 for a synopsis of the entire album
Thanks for giving us Porter content! Much love 😍😇
🎵And I know it does'nt last but I don't mind at all, anymore 🎵.
Good to see you back!
Thank you!
Tbh this was the only Nurture reaction I was looking forward to! Great work keep it up!
Yaas. Can't wait to watch this tomorrow after classes(not my fault this is uploaded at 1am ;_;)
Take your time! I certainly did take my time uploading it hahaha
I’ll be waiting here for you with open arms. Let me know your thoughts. Sorry I uploaded it so late, I thought I had my demographics right hahaha
Ok I finished watching your review, It's the only review I've been really waiting for and I must say that It kinda moved me in a way.
I don't really know how to describe it but I just want to let you know that I really love your channel
You’re very sweet. I appreciate your time and your words. They really make my life worth more. Thank you.
So glad to see you back! I was introduced when I saw your Worlds review, and you always seem to have really interesting and thought-out takes on aspects of music that I internalize but couldn't quite put into words before. Hope you're doing well, have a nice night ✌️
Thank you so much! I hope you know how much experiencing music with a group of people is important to me. It just makes it all so much better.
Dullscythe is like a battle between Porter Robinson and Virtual Self
I waited so long for this reaction that I missed it 3 weeks ago. But I'm back lmao ✌🏽
Yo, the comparison to a margherita pizza is actually perfect. There's a ton of slack margherita pizzas out there, but the real deal is rare, beautiful and bursting with so much flavor. Like where does all that flavor even come from??!
Yes BOIIIIIIIII I LIVE for your content 😍
YASSSS LALEEE THANK YOUU
you should totally try out listening to aries! Majorly underrated independent creator, he just posted his new album "Believe in me who believes in you." Definitely listen to songs: Conversations, Sayonara, Carousel; the "Welcome Home" album and then "Believe in me who believes in you" album.
My nose is runny from listening to this
An interesting thing about Blossom, according to the comment section of the office video for it the song is for his girlfriend or something. Her name is Rika & it means "pear blossom".
You should really review Illenium. Awake is my favorite album but Ashes and Ascend are both really really good.
I’ll look into it! Cheers!
Nurture is really a good pizza.
Thank you for understanding my argument
you forgot fullmoon lullaby...it's a bonus track for japan only...it's worth to react too
We might just do it live! I think it would be best since it’s a single track and we can do other stuff with it too.
No matter how long you’re gone, the hair doesn’t change haha
You’re in for a surprise next video hahahaa
Missed you a lot dude. Hopefully I’ll see you on stream over here on YT, kinda lost access to my twitch due to complications with moving.
@@marnotreally that’s sad, will try and check in with YT streams. Missed you too dude, never found a streamer I enjoyed more
Yeee
This is all I have to say "all the album is a fucking masterpiece"
Yeah! Finally!!
Musician is the most relatable song to me
I hate to say that you 'might' of missed a track from the album.
@@marnotreally No worries, I just was thinking since Fullmoon Lullaby is still technically on nurture, just not for us in the west. 🙃 Depends how you look at it for sure. Hope you like it when you hear it. 🙏
Love this content! I know I asked this already twice now but please check out the albums Anomalie or Haywyre if you have time, they're amazingggggg! Also cool wall paint, that looks cool
Also there’s a song of this album that is exclusively for japan
pond
you should listen to fullmoon lullaby dude
BOIIIIII
I loved the video brother!
you should react to melody's echo Chamber album, produced by the legendary Kevin Parker, I think you will like it, peace and love. 🇧🇷
I think the last song glitched out in the end?
:)
If you want to know what synth-pop sounds like, listen to Chvrches
It had to somehow transform and become unique to me.
i stg americans need to stop calling all electronic music edm lmfao
however i would like to see some more electronic music reviews! maybe Justice, SebastiAn, Four Tet, burial, disclosure, against all logic, bicep, flume, gesaffelstein, kaytranada, crystal castles, pendulum, jon hopkins. there is so much good electronic music out there to be found that i just do see a whole bunch on music review youtube
