    Love those Red Tractors of the 70’s! We had a couple 806’s, had a 1206, a 1456.... had a C, an M, we use to roll corn with or hook up to an auger.

    I operated an M, MD, 400, 706, 856,1206, 966, and a black stripe 1066 during my time on the farm from the 1960s through the 1980s. Never had a mechanical problem with any of them. These machines amazingly stood the test of time with proper maintenance.

    Something about that Turbo 1206 always tugs on the heartstrings! Wish I had two of them out in the quonset. Summertime while we were irrigating, dad use to put the big tires and the narrow front end on that 1206 and tractor pull with it all over the Midwest. What a machine!

    I had a German uncle that loved taking vacations on my Dad's farm. He couldn't wait to run the old M with two row corn picker. Our M came from Illinois from a relative that had a dealership. We use it every summer to bale with and the engine still hasn't been touched after 60 years.

    Yes i enjoyed your IH line up. My grandma used to say if a product was well made, she'd say "it was made from iron" boilerplate construction those letter models. Contemporary stuff isn't made that way anymore. My favorite era is 1950s up to late 1970s. I like the machinery sounds that you provide, many play music, you don't and that pleases my experience. Ran IH ,Case ,JohnDeere ,and Catipller .enjoyed running all of them
    I guess I ran the Cat. The longest . I forgot the zFord suppermajor 5000 . Wore that one plumb out . Used the Cat. to pull a dirt pan and move dirt around . Used the 4230JD to plow,bushhog ,planting, and bailing hay with a 438 J.D . BAILOR
    . MAN COULD IT PUT SOME BALES of hay . Had three trucks and five pickups hauling hay behind me . I could bale over 3,000 bales a day . Had to keep plenty of baking wire on hand . Carried four rolls on the baler at all time . Now days you can't even get people to even look at it ;muchless haul it . Had one customer that bought 4,000 bales from us e each year
    We had to haul it after we got off the job . He wouldn't let anyone else haul because of the way we stacked it. Makes a lot of difference when it is being stacked outside . Had to be stacked real tite to shed water. He tried to haul it himself ,but couldn't stand up to it . We delivered a lot of hay around over the county at late evenings to people that baught it . We even some in snow storms ,now that can get rough at times .

    Our farm has or has had tractors from most of those series. We have an M, 406, 756, Maxxum 5140, Magnum 7110, Magnum 7220, and a MX 215. We've traded off two 856's, a 1066, and a 1486. I just used the M this morning with a box blade, smoothing out a road. The 7000 series Magnum's are still the most dependable and productive tractors I've seen and are probably why our small farm is still in business.

    Great vid👍what Red Power Tour of 80 years, I wish I could film Australia versions like A5554, 66 series, 976 and 86 series. Magnum was big change n over series they got better. Today Magnum is like driving car compare early tractors especially with CVT.

    Great job on your video, very informative. I often wondered if IH survived the bad old days of the early 80's how things would be different today. ( The Super 70 series tractors with a CVT transmission or the 88 series tractors with a full power-shift transmission.) What might have been.

    You should really do one of these videos for John Deere and Oliver and maybe Massy Ferguson. I understand it takes awhile to get footage and put it all together but it would be really cool.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  Před 6 lety

      I do plan to do as many of these videos as possible. Deere is getting closer. I need to film some more two cylinders, a 4010, 6030, 4840, 4850, 4955 and 8400R. Massey has a ways to go. Oliver is one I want to do but need to find more. I may do a general White Farm Equipment history video soon.
