I heard a story about JI Case. It was told a customer bought a thrashing machine that for some reason wouldn’t thrash properly. J.I. himself came to his farm and worked on the thrasher all day but could not make it work. He told an assistant of his to bring him a gallon of kerosene, which he dumped all over the thrasher and set it afire. He then told the customer he would deliver him a new machine. Now that’s customer service.

@westbender 820 When my dad moved into 4WD he started with a 2470 for a couple of years, then a 2670 for a couple more, then a 2870. We pulled a 32' John Deere double tandem and a 40' shop built big sweep bar. We also extended a 9-shank BIg Ox ripper chisel to 15 shanks and pulled that a lot.
I remember the morning routine was to service the engine, then start it and take grease gun and crawl under the tractor, greasing it as I crawled forward. I even modified a pistol grip grease gun with a special tip so I could grease the u-joints without having to move the tractor to get the zerks where I could reach them.
By the time I'd greased all those zerks that big engine was warmed up and ready for a day's work.
He switched to min-til after that and rented a 2590 when he needed a tractor. Good tractor except it had one main hydraulic line that ran from the pump to the rear where it branched off to operate the hydraulic lifts and even the seat.
Problem was there was a rub point and after so many hours the line would blow out and spray all 15 or so gallons of hydraulic fluid all over the place. Dad was glad he didn't have to pay that bill!

Excellent. I grew up in Australia on Dad's farm with (in order) 930, 970, 1030, 970, 970, 2590. Neighbours had 1370, 2390, 4890. Brings back memories. And just this harvest, drove 8010 and 9250 harvesters and the 380CVT tractor.

Our 1st Case Tractor on our old family farm back north was a 1370. It had clutch issues (needed more and / or bigger clutches), but that 504 cubic inch Engine was awesome!!! We never had to do anything to the engine.

My Dad bought a new Case 530 Diesel in 1969. We ran a custom hay baling operation as well as our family farm. At the time it was the biggest tractor he could afford and it did a very good job for us. We had all New Holland hay equipment. In 1971 I bought a new Case 470 Diesel and used it in the haying operation to pull the New Holland hay rake. We could not have asked for better tractors for our operation and got very good service from both of them. Our Case and New Holland dealer was Hazel Farm Equipment Co in Hodgenville Kentucky.

After the video the older tractors got to the end of the field and then their back end failed. The newer models got to the end of the field and there powershift died or the farmer went through the fence because he fell asleep from all the hydraulic noise. Good video, well done and thank you the time you take in bringing these to us.

When dad first started back in 1977 he bought his first and only brand new tractor a 1086 IH from there his big tractor for tillage grain cart and chopping was a 2390 i do remember that. I was adopted so I don’t have much history with him when he was younger but I remember both of those tractor he called them red junk😂 the 1086 burnt up after being plugged in back in 2006 and the 2390 needed a new engine so he sold that in 2003 he bought a John Deere 4755. He had a 4440 for 20 years still has it. I was barely able to remember those machines as I was only 7 years old.
Now we have 7200R as our big tractor what a generation jump

I would say there are to many to have a favorite. But my first memory of riding in the tractor with my Dad where in the 2470. Great video. I loved the big back areas of the 2290 and the 3394 I also remember when turned our 2294 up to 165hp. We thought we really had something then. I also remember the day we demoed our first 7120. My brother and I ran that thing for 36hours straight. One of us would sleep on the floor while the other one drove. And mom would bring out more sandwiches. Lot of great memories in a lot of these tractors

2470 with a 8 foot Fair snowblower on the back. We drove that tractor backwards for hundreds of miles clearing snow for townships doing the blizzards of the late 70s. It took huge amounts of power to turn those twin fans and the fact you had different steering option was God send

I had a 870 case with power shift transmission. Did alot of work with it. Cleaned up a lot of land with it. Had the engine (336 diesel) rebuilt in it. However the transmission started giving trouble. Once when the tractor was sitting and ideling in neutral the transmission slipped into gear. Tractor tore up inside of my neighbors barn. Glad myself or someone else didn't get hurt or killed. Soon the C1 and C2 clutches gave out in the transmission. That meant I didn't have a 1 or 2 nd gear in each range. That was when I decided to get another tractor. The old 870 was a good strong tractor before it developed transmission problems. Thanks for the video. It brought back memories.

The 770 and 870 are rare tractors. They were produced from 1969-1972. They were replaced by the David Brown 1210 and 1410 after Case acquired the tractor company. I am sorry to hear your 870 was problematic. I know a farmer still using two 770s to rake hay.

I have run a 430,470,530,830,930,1030,1175,1370,and 1570. The 1370 was probably the best to use all around tractor of that bunch. That 530 with the 12spd trans would scoot on down the road though! It was not hard to run 24-25mph with that thing, keeping it in the road at that speed was the only challenge. You had to constantly keep the steering wheel slowly cranking left just to go straight. The hydraulics on the Case were usually the only real trouble I can remember with them. The 504cid diesel in the 1370 and 1570 was the only ones that started decent in the cold.

Wow great great video I grew up on case tractors a D, a630,an800 and the work horse of the group an 930 we plowed with the 800 and the930 4\18 behind the 800,and 5\18, behind the 930 and they were in the ground we plowed as deep as we could just into the hard yello clay as to brake up the hard pan as they use to call it , (compaction ) this is why I'm so into American made and what Case, international, and John Deere have done for American agriculture and continue to do so I say thanks Case and happy birthday to you and your family of America workers

learned to drive tractor on a SC. I couldn't reach the break pedals but didn't need to I you could stop with just the hand clutch. also drove my Dad's 311, 400, and 411. in high gear to 311 could do 30 mph if it wasn't pulling a load and if the road was smooth enough. also drove my brother's 2670, 9350, 210, and 310. of those I liked the 9350 the best. it was easy to drive.

I like the Case IH tractors. They look neat, both in that cream color and in red. I'm not a farmer or mashine operator, but Case tractors are among the better brands out there. It even beats JD in many aspects

Great footage I love being able to see the evolution and development throughout the years. You should check out the Albert City Threshemen and collectors show in Albert City, Iowa. In August 2020, they’re celebrating their 50th show and will have several tractors and combines from each of the major brands for every decade from 1900 to 1979 working in the field together. They’re planning for their biggest show yet!

We had a Case 830 Orchard model tractor. It was a shorter tractor that those shown, but it was great at field work. We put duals on it and hit the wet spots with a small 10' pull-type disc (no carriage wheels!) or a 12' drag. I carried a 50' chain in case I got stuck. It had no PTO "umpf" for the regular blower, but we put it on the belt driven, long conyeyor Aliis Chalmers blower (when I was like 5-6 y/o).
