    The greatest tennis player, an honour to watch the elegance with such effectiveness

    Without doubt, Federer is the most talented, beautiful, vesatile player ever to play tennis. Variety of shots he plays, is far more than combined of Nadal or Novak. His volley , stop volley, backend, forehand and dropshots are very pleasing to watch. To play for 20 over yrs with very high consistency is simply amazing. And above all, he is very humble, down to earth always easy going with his fans and media. We hardly read or hear ppl say bad things abt him. It is astonoshing to know that he has never retired half way in 1500 plus matches he has played. This shows how much he loves Tennis.. No other player has this effect on public past 50 yrs plus. No wonder he gets so much love, respect and attention from Reporters, players and public.. Even if Novak wins 25 Slams, he can never match talent, skill, charishma, elegance and popularity of Federer. Novak may go down as Goat but Federer is Lion ( king who rules)..👌🏻👌🏻.

      wrong Miroslav Mecir, John McEnroe, have more talent! But they had no discipline! After his Rock and Drugs Tour, 1984-85, McEnroe, never really came back! And Mecir never trained! Tirac said about him, while the other players were training, I used to meet him at the casino in Monte Carlo! Consequence, back broke quickly and career ended with him almost paralysed! Talent is not enough!!! Without the will to reinvent yourself every day, to keep at it, to train hard, nothing works! Look at Nadal, he lost years due to injuries, a player who was less possessed would have been history long ago! Funny, Mecir and Nadal are two extremes!

    Federer’s approach game and net game are unmatched in this generation. He’s able to drop the ball almost perfectly where it needs to be, so it’s out of reach. You usually get killed at the net if you don’t execute like this.

  • @jollymolly2521
    @jollymolly2521 Před 2 lety +32

    One of the best things about these highlight videos is seeing the reactions of the opponents again. That half volley against Murray at 1:16 - from the year end finals in 2012 - never fails to crack me up. Murray was like, "WTF more am I supposed to do!?"
    Here's the thing about the GOAT debate - nobody has ever feared playing Rafa or Novak in their prime. Guys literally did not want to play Roger because as Agassi once put it when comparing Roger and Pete - Roger can squeeze you from every part of the court. When he's in "God Mode" - it doesn't matter who he's playing. Novak and Rafa have been both on the receiving end of some Roger beat downs. Even though he has a losing record against both? Out of all of the matches he's played against the 2 of them - there's only 1 really horrible from Roger where he was never in the match - and that's the 2008 French Open. There have been multiple times when he's played Novak and Rafa when it hasn't mattered what they did on court because Roger was untouchable.

      Roger is my favorite player ever, but what you said about the matchups with Rafa and Nole is just crazy to me. Rafa has had games against Roger where Roger hasn't been able to do anything, and so has Nole. I do believe Federer's prime was by far the greatest and most beautiful tennis that we'll ever see tho.

    For me, the one at 4:18 is the best of a crazy bunch. His racket is coming ACROSS the ball and he has to time it right, and feather it, at the same time as opening it for a slice. All while getting into position with his feet.
    The sheer number of things that could go wrong but don't, along with the eye-hand coordination and awareness of his racket face, is mind-bendingly good to me.

None of them come close to Roger. Anyone who keeps saying the backhand is his great weakness that cost him more success (i.e. he would be a much better player with a two-hander) should watch this. I've been watching your videos for almost 4 years now and coming from India where Tennis isn't as popular (don't have too many people to talk about it), I still remember the days when I started watching way back in the mid 2000's, Roger made playing tennis look ridiculously easy. I'm a decent athlete myself playing Volleyball, football and cricket but until I tried playing tennis, really couldn't appreciate the level of difficulty, skill and talent. Stats don't tell you the whole story, I mean in any sport, for example, MJ doesn't have the best stats in Basketball, Ayrton Senna neither in F1 but they are considered as reference points. I myself am a huge fan of Novak and Rafa for different reasons - Novak's consistency, Rafa's spirit - the guy doesn't know what giving up means. But I don't miss them when they aren't playing too much because such traits and their gameplay can be found in other really world-class players. But there can't and will never be another Roger. For me and I think for many tennis fans in general, we've crossed the stage where results matter. Anyway, thank you Raz.

    I love all of these "50 greatest...by Roger" videos. It just proves that he was the real deal and that his spectacular shots weren't one-off accidents. I remember a certain top player (who shall remain namelesss so I don't start a war) mimicking that Federer just stuck his racquet out and swung at a shot and it turned spectacular. But no. Roger is possibly the ONLY player in history who could hit these types of shots on the regular and maintain an incredible, champion-level record. There were other tricksters in the game, but not a single one of them ever won a Grand Slam, i.e., Monfils, Brown, Leconte, Santoro, Dmitrov, and a few others. Maybe the only exception to that is Noah, but he only one a single GS title. While Roger's total GS, Masters 1000, and YEC record may not stand up against Nadal and Djokovic when all is said and done, Roger's pure talent, hand-eye coordinator, and outside shot accuracy has never been equalled in the history of the game.
