My first Kindle Basic 4th had several gorgeous images as screensavers, pictures of fountain pens, pencil ends, typewriter letters, etc. When I got the Basic 10th, they were gone. But recently, I found a used Voyage for $60 that brought back those lovely images. This is ideal because nearly all my readings are articles from magazines and newspapers.

@@funnykai1 You have to remove the "Special Offers" Feature. If you go to your amazon account, find your devices, go to your current kindle, and click on "remove special offers". Wait some time, restart the device, and it should be there. I don't think it's even worth it as it depends on the book. It doesn't display the cover exactly, just the first page of the ebook, so if the first page is something like "For Lucy" it'll display that. This goes for books from the store too.
@@kalaster189 additionally, a user will have to pay around $20 to do this as the “discount” when buying the kindle is in the form of ads for books on the sleep screen and Home Screen.

I have the 11th generation and this isn’t an option, sadly. Are there any workarounds?

Update to the latest firmware on Kindle.
@@stevevlahos5469 how can i do that? It says that i already have the last software update but i dont have that option
@@brugimenez I can never get the kindle to automatically update over the air (Wi-Fi). I find the firmware from amazons support page for kindle, download the file and copy it to the root of the kindle. Make sure the kindle is plugged in and you can browse the file structure of the device. Copy the file over then eject the kindle from the pc. Next go to settings and it should allow you to run the update. I hope this helps.
@@stevevlahos5469 thank you. I just did that and downloaded the last update for my kindle paperwhite 10th gen but unfortunately it still doesn’t show on the settings. Thank you though!!
@@brugimenez make sure your downloading the correct firmware for your exact kindle. I at times will download the wrong version but when trying to update it will state it’s the incorrect version.
If you don't see the option, reach out to amazon customer support and ask them nicely to get it removed. They removed mine for free.

@@fireflyschapstick it's planned obsolescence. I was planning on switching to kobo anyways. They are alot more consume friendly
