For those of you guys with ads you’re gonna have to get them removed for the cover to show up when it’s off. Customer service usually does it for free if you ask nicely!
how would you go about doing that exactly i just purchased a paper white from target for black friday and it’s the ad included version and i wasn’t expecting it to have them. Just call regular amazon customer service and explain the situation?????

Excellent, even on my generation 5 Paperwhite, I was able to play around with the settings available on this Kindle and turn off a few of the settings you recommended . Thank you! My home page is all mine now...

I didn’t know there was a cover display option. That was one of the reasons I preferred my aging Nook. I’ve been thinking of buying a Kindle and you just convinced me.
They are great. They have just announced a brand new paperwhite edition coming out early November. Check that out. Might be better for you than the oasis

I also read several books at the same time depending on my mood or interest at the time (same with audiobooks). It's like watching different tv series; you don't need to watch every season of the Sopranos in one go, there's more out there.

Hi, do you have a video for the paperwhite 11th gen? I can't find the home screen view. I think they've removed it so we're stuck with ads
I dont have the turn off home screen view option on my generation 10. I am going to check into the good reads shelves.
For me, it’s just settings to lower the battery usage. The batteries for my Kindle Oasis 1 and 3 are not good. The first thing I do is put them on [AIRPLANE] mode, then move on to lower the screen brightness to the lowest settings I can read comfortably. This helps keep the batteries going a bit longer - maybe a day or two 🤔🧐
The other settings I use are similar to yours: Only show downloaded books that I’ve not read or am currently reading in alphabetical order 📚🤔🧐
I just bought a kindle oasis and did the latest update and I don't have the button to turn off the screen recommendations is there another way to do it ?!?

The option to declutter my Home Screen as you showed is not there on my kindle. I can’t figure it out. I have the ad free version and everything. Was able to turn on display cover feature but not the Home Screen view unfortunately 😢

Thank you for your video! I have a question, my title screen is a mess. When I have been reading a book, after you turn it off and then turn it on again, the text of the book you've been reading comes up, which is fine. The assumption being, you want to resume reading, where you last left off...which is fine. But, if I am reading like 2-4 books at a time, if I hit the library button, tons of books come up. I guess my entire downloaded library is shown. Basically, I only want 2-5 books I choose, to display on my home screen. Can you help me accomplish this? Thanks.
Hi Maneet, Could you help with KWP 10, ghost touching screen issue. So many users have this problem. Reboot, reset, customer support....nothing helps.

How do I change the appearance from the monochrome in the app on my android?
I set it and don't know how to undo it.
I prefer the book cover vice the current stock wallpapers. What I really wish is the ability to use the older screen savers. There more intricate and pleasing
I don’t think I’ve seen the older ones before! Will have to do my research
@@Maneetpaul I believe each kindle series had their own set of screensavers, as long as you didn’t have special offers that is. Each had a handful and it seems to me tough to just find them in one place

Comrade! I don't the "Home & Library" option on my Kindle oasis (10th generation). Did they remove this with the latest update?
I can't seem to find the option to remove the "Recommendations" on my home screen view !! Was it removes in the recent update??
I just bought an Amazon basic Kindle 10th generation and when I did the software update, the Home and Library option to turn off the recommendations isn’t showing up 😔
Hi Maneet, great tutorial. Thanks. I just got the new Kindle Paperwhite and in the Home & Library Menu it does not give me the ability to eliminate suggested books from the Home Screen. Do you know if there is a workaround?
Yeah, they removed that ability with the new update. From the home screen, just press "Library" at the bottom, and it will always stay on the Library tab. The "Home" button will still be there, but you don't have to use it. Check out my video on this: czcams.com/video/fWEoV-IyllQ/video.html

The privacy section got me thinking about two more areas. Maybe you could do a whole video on it...You turned off the Privacy settings here, but what about if you use the Kindle app on your iPad/iPhone/Computer? Do you have to turn it off there as well? Also, do the privacy settings have to be altered somewhere in Goodreads (since it's a separate...but still Amazon-owned site), or what are they tracking as well?

My first view is always Collections in the Sort option on the home page eg Politics, German Lit, Spanish Grammer, Dog Stories, Thrillers. Sadly, although the Collections are saved, when I get a new Kindle some of, the books within the Collections seem to wander out of them so with each new Kindle I've had to spend time putting them back in. With my latest Kindle, I have still got 48 pages of books to put back

If it isn't showing up in the menu bar, Goodreads is not available in your location. I also don't have it.
I don't think you can disable the home page anymore. It's not in my settings. But I don't see a need to do so. I just switch to the library page and stay there. The home page doesn't bother me at all. The Kindle never switches to it, but I can access it easily if I decide I want to get some ideas based on my reading history.
That is correct. This video is a bit old now. But the way you described it is exactly how I approach it now
July 2023 - Kindle Signature Edition no longer lets you configure your Home Screen - cannot turn off recommendations :(
They removed turn off recommendations option on firmware version 5.14.1, i want to turn it off, how would i do that? Please help
You can't turn it off now, but you can go to the Library tab, and it will hide all the recommendations. Check out mv video about the software update: czcams.com/video/fWEoV-IyllQ/video.html

I turned off ads on my kindle Paperwhite just so I could see book covers on my lock screen. Sadly, this feature is not available for my device. Since my kindle is an original kindle Paperwhite or 5th generation Paperwhite, the new feature will not work. It only works on kindle Paperwhite 3 or 7th generation kindle Paperwhite and above. This includes all models that came out after the Paperwhite 3.
You won’t see the option to show book covers on the sleep screen, until you remove the ads on the device. But it makes a huge difference, I think.
Do you have a video that shows typing (for notes) in the Oasis and Paperwhite, side by side?
I do not! But I’ll try incorporating this into a future video.

Agreed! I was sad to see that.
I like the recommendations and I don't mind Amazon knowing my email address to identify that - they have that anyway when I order things. It has got pretty good at recommending new books on some of my pet topics of the day eg Esperanto, US and UK politics.
Please make a long term review of the kindle basic (all new kindle 10h gen)
I like Good Reads. I DON’T like that somehow, all my Kindle books, notes & highlights have synced to Good Reads. I want the OFF‼️😩 How do I disable that?👀📝
There should be a setting on Goodreads for this. By default, they won't show publicly on your profile.

You don't seem to use Collections. I have sorted the library on my Kindles into 22 Collections & rely on this organization.
The Paperwhite does not have the option to turn off home screen view like it does on here. Does anyone know if it's somewhere else?

Would anyone recommend Kindle Unlimited?
I tried it for a while. It never had the books I was really looking for or ones that seemed to interest me. They have some flagship series and books, like Harry Potter, and such, but it wasn't enough for me to keep the subscription active. I believe they usually have a free trial if you wanted to give it a try.
