  • My 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 AC blower made a loud ticking noise whenever I turned it on. I dropped the blower cleaned the cage, and sprayed WD-40 on the spindle and subsequently into the gear mechanism.
    This has seem to fix the issue as it has been 2 months since recording this video and the noise has not returned.

    Thanks for the video.
    After cleaning it up and oiling the bears it still had a lot of noise. The commutator was very rough. I Cut 800 and 1000 girt in to 1/4 inch by 3 inch strips and slide them in to the L shaped slot ( the only place to get at commutator) used a thin bent piece of aluminum to pushing lightly against the sand paper as I turned the motor by hand at first and later by drill. Commutator was shiny again. This got rid of the motor noise. Just the sound of air blowing now.

    Mine started to make a somewhat low-mid level noise which was very annoying. I took the blower out like 4 times to clean it but could never remove the fan cage top cap. After getting frustrated I saw this video and just went crazy with WD-40 inside the actual motor. So much dirt came out that I thought it would work right away. When I tried it out with the blower out I kept hearing the sound and just said "I'm done, I'm buying a new one". But then I thought to let the WD-40 work for a bit and 15 minutes later I started the car and turned the AC on. Surprise surprise!!! I did not hear the sound any more!!! I just hope it stays like that for a long time and the noise doesn't return in a few days.

    I have an 08 Dodge Nitro. The blower system is exactly like that. My issue is during heavy rain it floods the floorbed and mats. I know the water is coming in from that area. How is the water getting down there? Any one know? It's driving me crazy.

    had a small annoying squeak to start. pulled it all apart and had a hell of a time getting the little yellow cap off, tried tapping the centre pin with a hammer while pulling the fan up and it came apart no problem. cleaned it out and put it back together.... it wouldnt spin lol. turns out whacking the centre pin was a bad idea. it pushed through the back of the motor.... i got it working but now it sounds more like a deck of cards in bicycle spokes😂🤣

  • @b35king4aday
    @b35king4aday Před 4 lety +2

    So I got the motor apart. It was doing the ticking as well, but was at least working fine. When I put it back in it wasnt working and I noticed the fan wasnt spinning as freely as before. So I took it back out and completely broke down the motor. I made sure each part was clean, made sure the brushes weren't damaged and still making contact. I got it all back together and now it spins more freely and seems to be getting power because the fan starts but wont stay on and it almost feels like it has a wobble. I'm probably going to have to just get a new motor, but wanted to see if there were any other suggestions out there.

    This did not go well for me on my 2013 Ram! I found no need to remove the glove box or any trim just the 3 screws, started off great then could not get the cage off but kept on trying ended up ripping the motor in half! Looks like its going to cost me $100 to get mine nice & quiet! How did you ever get that plastic center nut off? Mine did not budge 🤷‍♂️

    This guy is miss leading. DON’T ever spray WD40 into an electric motor. The spray can gum up the grease inside even more. Best thing is to take the motor apart and clean from inside out.
