  • In this video I highlight a common problem effecting 2013-2014 Ram Pickups when the HVAC blower fan motor intermittently wont operate. The blower motor and/or resistor may have been changed and the fan intermittently stops or comes on over bumps while driving. Watch this helpful video for more information and the quick fix!

    Thank you for this. My 2017 5500 Ram just got out of the shop for $11,000 worth of repairs and one of the problems he was supposed to fix was the fan randomly shutting off. He wasn't able to fix it but told me to wiggle the relay. Today it shut off again, I wiggled the relay, took it out, put it back in, nothing. I then pulled the fuse up a little and boom I have a working blower motor again.

    I've seen many with this issue. But most of them are actually caused by the connector under the fuse box. When you wiggle the fuse or relay up top, you're actually moving the connectors under the box, just enough to reconnect the circuit. Release the four tabs, pull up the whole box, disconnect the big four connectors, one smaller one, the battery cable and pull the whole box out. The connector directly under the relay and fuse will most likely have a pin with a burn look or melted plastic.
    I've seen shops replace the blown fuse, then when your going down the road, you lose air again. It's because the female connector under the box is loose and causes the fuse to blow. You'll have to repair the connection so its tight and doesn't wiggle enough to disconnect power.
    Also, use a straight small pic and spread the points closer where the fuse and relay gets inserted to tighten their connection.

    Arrived in Glendale AZ today, 106 degress ! Temperature will increase to 115 in the next 5 days ! After fuel stop in my 2013 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn, A/C was not blowing . After getting to the next truck stop to cool off and troubleshoot the a/c system, I watched your video. Purchased a new fuse and PRESTO...COLD A/C AGAIN !!! Thank you for your knowledge and sharing it on CZcams 😊

    I got a 2013 ram 2500 that the blower motor was acting up when I bought it made the dealership replace it and it worked great for just about a year and then started going intermittent all of summer it wouldn't work at all but nw that it's cold down outside it seems to be working intermittent again. So I'm going to try this just not sure where to get the deeper fuse

    My blower motor slows down over time, then stops. Or when the vehicle is turned off to get gas or convenience store, the motor will not come.
    If i leave it off for 5-10 mins while driving it will come back on.
    Thoughts?

    Have a 2014 Ram, blower just completely stopped. Checked fuses and all looked good. Pulled the lower plug on blower motor and tested for power, no power to the plug. Didn't pull the blower yet. If the resistor failed will it kill power to the lower plug? Thank you!!

    • @JasonLee-lv7tm
      @JasonLee-lv7tm Před 11 měsíci

      You don’t need to check all your fuses, just the blower motor fuse and relay. If fuse is good, go to the relay and then see if your getting signal from controls into relay and or power out of it. That way you know which side of the circuit the problem is on.
      Usually if your blower resistor is bad, the blower motor will work in high speed only and won’t work in lower speeds. The one in my truck is a variable resistor so that won’t apply for mine but if your truck has separate speeds then that would be a way to check it

      Have something similar going on with my 2013 1500. Started out going out intermittently. Now it just only works on middle and high speed. I changed the entire blower motor and still same problem. And doesn’t blow warm or hot air in the winter. Any advice ?

      @@ThecardoctorTV the daylight running light is the same light as the headlight, just a lower voltage. It comes on automatically when starting the vehicle. I'm just lazy and have been driving it like that for years so it's not a high priority. Maybe someday, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

    What would I do if one of the terminals to the fuse is darker than the other? Is that evidence of a hotspot?

  • @duncan8891

    I can smack the bottom of the blower assembly and get the fan back. That would be the blower itself correct?

      @angelruiz7710 Před 8 měsíci

      This used to work for me too and then it stopped "doing the trick". Checked the fuse, found it burnt, replaced it, burnt again. Found bad TIPM connection on the thick blue wire that goes to the blower. Dealer wanted to replace TIPM but just pulled the pin, bent it back in shape and was good to go. Be sure to be gentle as the TIPM connector is easy to break and you're looking at $150+ for a new TIPM Module Connector (G36C42)

    Those under hood fuse boxes are a real joke. Put that under the hood in the engine heat, dirt and moisture. No wonder every car maker has issues with those things. Whatever happened to keeping stuff like that in the dry in the passenger compartment? same with ECU’s and modules. Modern engineering at its finest!,
