In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the blower motor and blower motor resistor on a ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. In the beginning of the video I show the Diagnostic steps I took to determine that the blower motor was at fault. It is imperative that the blower motor receive adequate voltage in ground in order to operate correctly with a test light or a multi meter you can verify this very easily. Luckily there are no major components that need to be removed in order to get access to the connectors for these two items. I hope this video is help you out if it has please like and subscribe, if you have any questions or comments feel free to put something in the comment section. Thank you for watching

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 and my resistor was different than the one in the video. I got mine from rock auto by searching 2012 ram 1500 outdoorsman. The concept of the video was the same though. Very helpful.

I have a 2013 Ram 1500, it will be 7 in Nov 2020. Noticed last week the second setting on my climate control knob refused to work. The other three still did. Followed these instructions and pulled out the resistor - thing was roached with rust mostly on the side facing the engine, surprising since there should be no moisture there. Anyways, I’m in Canada and I bought the replacement for $69 (lol, yes). Easy to pop out and pop back in with the new one. Solved my problem, now working 100%. Do your own work - this would have cost hundreds if I went to the dealership.

My fan would only run on high(4), speed. I had it worked on several years ago. It worked normally, but after several months, there was a smell as if something was burning. Then again it would only run on highest speed. It’s operated this way for 3 or 4 years. Today it worked for a while and now it doesn’t run at all. The blower motor was making a loud noise, but it wasn’t making noise the last few days.

This is exactly the video I've been looking for! I've been having problems with my Ram's (2005) AC for a while now. The air coming out of the vents is cold and the blower motor is running fine (it sounds like what the AC should sound like when set to high) , but the air flow is super weak when it's on high. Would replacing the motor fix this, or is this a different issue?
P.s. we live in the desert, so would the dust and sand be causing it to not work properly? Also, both air filters were recently replaced.

My blower motor doesnt seem to want to ramp up anymore, and occasionally ill hear the recirc come on then die off, this has been slowly getting worse and worse over a couple years does this sound like a resister issue? when i get time this weekend ill get my test light on the plug like you did and see if its changing brightness to see if that rounds it down a bit more.

My Blower works but not right away even in Manual mode with the fan speed dial. I can't see the delay light come on in the display anymore but that shouldn't matter in manual mode. To me it seems to be working as if there is a delay but also as far as I can remember it does it in the summer too when the delay is negligible. Do you have any ideas?

That's a pretty new truck to be replacing the blower motor in already doesn't surprise me my new truck I've already replaced water pump power steering pump tie rod ends wheel bearings and now it looks like the resistor is going in the blower I only have low and high speed air but this video did help going to get new resistor in the morning and after seeing how easy the fan comes out I'm going to take it out clean it and put a little Grease it does squeak a little when I first turn it on just a lot of dust in there I'm sure because my truck didn't come with the cabin filter for some crazy reason you have to install it yourself dumb.

On max AC mine will cut in and out if I am either stuck in traffic or at a red light. It acts as if I reached over and turned the fan down and then back up 3-4 seconds later. Only does it with AC on. If just using fan on high, it won’t cut in and out. Only with “snowflake” (AC) on.

This helps bit not in the fact I need to change my blower motor. When I switch from ac to heat the air flow drops significantly. I'm hoping that the heater core is close to the motor and there is just debris built up that I can clean because along with low air flow the heat doesnr blow very hot. I've flushed the core multiple times and never had any cruddy water come out. This leads me to belive its a physical blockage of air flow on the vents.

I borrowed my friends Tahoe and he told me if the air stops blowing to hit under the passenger dash hard and it will start up again. I think sometimes it works, then just fails for whatever reason. It's old of course and replacing it fixed the prob. Hitting under there while driving on the freeway is dangerous 😅😅

What I’m experiencing is that every time I start my car the ac would start making noise and simultaneously switch back and forth from heat to cool air, after a minute or so it would either get stuck at cool air or hot air, would that be the resistor or the motor going out? Hey Aaron, my 2013 ram 1500 sport blower motor makes an electrical whine when it is on, almost like a capacitor. Have you ever heard of that before? It is independent of fan speed but goes away when you turn the fan off so it is that circuit.

Yup, I’ve had the exact same noise issue with my 2014 1500. Not going to lie, this will probably be the last dodge I buy due all of the quality control and durability issues. My truck is a daily driver with 70,000 miles on it. I’ve had computer/electrical issues, window seal issues, and issues with the exhaust manifold (leak due to dissimilar metals causing lack of seal). The thing is a mess for a commuter vehicle in south Texas.
