  • SYMPTOMS OF A BAD BLOWER FAN MOTOR RESISTOR
    In this video we will explain the symptoms of a bad blower motor resistor. If you have faulty blower motor resistor you may experience low airflow coming from the vents even when the fan is all the way on high. In some cases bad blower motor resistor may not even turn the blower motor fan as a result your fan will not work at all and there will be no air coming from the vents. Blower motor resistors are usually very easy to replace and we will show you in this video where you can find the blower motor resistor on most cars.

    Typically they go bad because of the soldier points get hot and then release contact. Usually the lower settings go out first because the more redistricted the current the hotter the contact points become.

    Most of those resistors have an internal thermal fuse that blows if it gets too hot. A worn motor may cause excess heat. Some resistors can be opened, and you can test that thermal fuse and replace it if it is blown. That can save you $100-200 for an OEM resistor! But something caused it to blow, so don’t stop there, keep checking.

    There's got to be a small tool or s/thing that will test to see whether or not it's the RESISTOR or the MOTOR, right? You can't return parts like this if they're purchased. I've got an '08 C300 and the fan doesn't work at ALL. Now, while this "probably" (or at least to me) seems like it's the actual FAN, it very well could be the resistor, RIGHT?

What I’m experiencing is that every time I start my car the ac would start making noise and simultaneously switch back and forth from heat to cool air, after a minute or so it would either get stuck at cool air or hot air, would that be the resistor or the motor going out? Any help would be greatly appreciated

      My truck was doing the same thing. It kept cycling on and off between ac and regular. It's not the blower motor in this case. Could be one of a few things. It could be low on freon. I would start by checking that. If its not low then check to see if the the low and high side sensors are working properly. You could also take a hose and clean the radiator real well. Sometimes they get clogged up from dust, bugs, ECT. If none of those help the cycling situation then check to see if either your fan clutch is engaging and turning off properly. If you have electric fans check to see if there turning on.

      Does ur car work on all levels of the blower? If so it could be a clogged up dirty ac condenser radiator or your ac needs charged if it blows cold while driving but warm at idle?

    If it’s not working at all would that be the blower fan?

    • @crazyjkz
      @crazyjkz Před 4 lety +1

      I've read and heard that eventually a bad blower motor resistor (the part being referred to in this video) can lead to the heat/AC not working at all on any fan speed. I'm having the same issue on my 2004 Saab 9-3 right now. It started out where the blower fan would occasionally not work at all or it would sometimes either take a few minutes before it would start blowing or it would only work on the highest fan speed, but over the course of a few months of that now it's barely working at all. I'll be changing the blower motor resistor in a few days since its only a $25 part and an easy job to do.

    My mom took her lincoln navigator to the mechanic and said it was the blower motor resisiter but idk bc our problem is the air works but it doesnt get cold, it feels like it wants to but won't . Also, when she turns on the ac it wont turn off unless she turns off the car . Which is bad Because its been like this for years and can hear the clutch is really bad . Would you know what we could fix to get the cold air or is it completely bad. We've replaced the thermostat and the ac actuator but its still the same

    Hmmmm... Don't think this is my problem. My fan turns on just fine and I can change the speed with no issue. For whatever reason the direction of airflow will intermediately change to the floor and then back to the top vents. This is happening when I have the flow direction on top vents only. What do you thing my problem is?
