I don't have kids but I do love my nephew enough that I got him a SEGA Genesis. Very appreciative child, even with a Wii and Wii U he still loves the Genesis.

The motion controls aren't even in the Genesis games, just a select few original (Java-based?) sports games. Oh, no, AtGames has found other ways to ruin Genesis classics.

This is an amazingly inexpensive emulator!!!
I bought this on clearance for the hell of it for me and my wife a few years ago at a Walgreens 1 block from my apartment in the Nob Hill neighborhood in San Francisco right before flying to our house that's right outside of Tokyo Japan... I just thought, "Hey, what the hell, my wife has never played Sonic before because she was born and raised in Japan and SEGA consoles like the Genesis was never really popular in Japan, so I'll give this thing a shot!!!" Well, that night while I was still in San Francisco I tried it out and coulldn't believe how crappy the controllers and games were, but as briefly mentioned in the begining of this video, there is an SD Card Slot!!! Now this is what really kicks ass about this console!!!! They have it setup for people to go to some website on the computer, pay money to buy the game from a limited selection that they could get the rights for, download the game to an SD Card and play the game... But actually all that you need todo is go to any ROM & EMULATION website and download EVERY game you want!!!!
And sit back and relax at your father in laws house in downtown Tokyo and play Streets Of Rage with your Wife and Father in Law on a 60 inch flatscreen all night!!!
All this console is, is an amazing emlulator with shitty controllers that you can play on your TV!!!
Why waste $80 (8,080 yen) on a GENESIS EVERDRIVE, when you can buy one of these??
And anyone with a basic knowlege of how to work a soldering iron can easily hardwire in some GENESIS controllers!!!!

What's the point of getting a Wii clone with badly emulated Mega Drive games when you could just get those games on the Virtual Console? Or better yet, just get a real Mega Drive.

Get a Sega CD and a 32x
Then Get an Everdrive Cart

The games that you can download for it aren't on the ATGAMES website. They are actually Genesis and Megadrive roms that you download from rom sites around the internet. So you can potentially have the entire library of Genesis games saved, and ready to play.

i had this as a kid, one of the only games i remember from it was Golden Axe 3, but for some reason it isn’t mentioned on the included games list anywhere online. i know for a fact i didn’t have any SD card games that young so i find it weird that i can’t find Golden Axe 3 on the arcade motion mentioned anywhere.

I used to have one of these, the games were fun, man.
I have an AT games SEGA console that has like 8 games plus 40 shovelware ones on an extra cartridge, doesn't even run on Mega Drive hardware, has terrible sound and it just stopped working. Only plus side was it supported Mega Drive cartridges and Controllers.
The less-than-stellar emulated music certainly turns me off.
Just look up the music for the game you want on CZcams and turn the volume off on the TV problem solved (sorta)
I got this for a friends on his birthday back in 2011, I came over the next day and it was so horrible that I offered to take it back to the store. I took it back and just bought a genesis model 3 for him.

Does the download thing use regular ROMs or a propretary format? The one draw of this is that it's cheaper than programmable carts. :-/
2:22 they apparently didnt have that SD cart slot at some point, because i got this at a thrift store and mine doesnt.

I actually used to have one of these and whenever Eggman beat his hammer in the Aquatic Ruin Zone fight, the console would freeze and the colors would invert. It was a pain in the ass, but at least the console allows you to strait up choose whatever level you want to play.

For this sort of feels exactly like a Nintendo Wii's Motion Controls, did somebody say motion controls? I heard motion controls in here, almost reminds me of the Power Glove or at least not even close to it. Good times, we love this stuff! It looks pretty hip, man.

Sort of... Well maybe not ^^. It's pretty neat though.
I had one of these but the controllers no longer sync with the system and I replaced the batteries and everything. Still nothing.
It's the best option for playing your own roms since the entire MegaDrive/Genesis library will fit on a 2 GB SD card and you can even save your game in over half of the RPGs for the system now with Neto Boot Loader...I'd highly recommend getting the Russian version instead though, because it comes with 6-button controllers instead of 4-button Wii remotes.

Now, in my desire to play some of my NES carts and anything retro, I've chased some cheapie consoles, mainly a purple Yobo, a Power Games penguin-shaped system with a 111 games in one cart (unit works fine but the directional button on the controller failed really early), and and a Power Player Super Joy III, in which the controller is in the shape of an N64.
However, I purchased a Retro Duo last year, and it still works fine, so it's kind of atoning for the mistakes I made with those other systems the previous decade.
we found just the console at goodwill 4 2 bucks. it didn't have the controller but a different wireless sega controller i had worked lol just no motion control :)

I don't know Mr. Balls and Casual Fishing is pretty tempting heh the best thing really going is that it does look kinda cute and has a good color theme. The 88% accurate sound and well other reasons mentioned already, it doesn't seem worth the money.
