I really wish you showed us more of the games especially the Sonic games. I've read many negative comments about the Sonic games' audio quality and I would have love to hear it myself.
I got one of these recently and I'm pretty happy with it. The genesis I got when I was a kid just died and I have been unable to find a replacement, so I decided to give this a shot. Pretty much all of my carts work, the sound is a little off but not a deal breaker for me. I have not encountered the hissing issue with sonic yet. Over all I'm happy with it and it will do until I can find a replacement genesis.
John S They're not that hard to come by. A side effect of collectors going nuts for Nintendo anything right now is that the Genesis is pretty much being ignored. Great for people like me who just want to play some damn games because a lot of good Genesis games are dirt cheap right now.

I have been accused of being stuck in the 80s. But even I'll admit that you can't bring the past back down to the smallest detail. This is a nice way to visit the past. Yes. There are some differences between these games and the actual SEGA games. But it is STILL a nice trip down memory lane. Also, consider that you're paying so little for so many games and TWO controllers.

mortal kombat 1 I believe has a bug or some type of glitch every time you finish endurance round three the game restarts and you can't go on to fight goro or shang tsung.
This occurs on both the handheld system and the system that you reviewed.

There is misinformation about this: it has every Streets of Rage, yet people complain about it being absent. The lack of certain games is astonishing: NO Shining Force II, NO Mega Bomberman, NO Rocket Knight Adventures, No Gunstar Heroes or Sunset Riders WTF
I got this as a surprise for my birthday a month ago. What was annoying is that the controllers it came with seemed to refuse to work, but now that I seen this, it made me realize I simply didn't have fresh batteries for it. Although it seems with how picky it is on how the signal works, I guess it's a good thing I already got some Sega brand controllers to use instead.
Yeah the Sega wired controllers are definitely the way to go.
I got one for Christmas because they were way cheap (about $25 USD) and i lightly dropped it.... It doesn't output sound anymore. They also make a portable version that you can load .bin files on an SD card. Not a bad alternative
I just got my sega working and will only play this thing for games I no longer have until I re-buy my collection. Its a relief to finally have legit sound and control on sonic and be able to use the enforcer gun. Still though this was worth the 40 bucks. People are a bit too harsh on it because like I said, the nes classic mini pissed me off so much more. Also keep in mind people that this is better than nothing. Nintendo has no intention of releasing an official sega mini, and I bet a lot of third worlders don't mind this thing. The game list could obviously have been better like the mini, but it takes games and does not lag like the mini bes or snes as bad.

I have vizio 4k tv and I can not get the video to show up at all. I plugged into the green and went to the input of comp and it goes plain black then goes back to no signal. Anyone know any fixs? Thank you.
Soooo, how did you hook that up? Have a smart TV and even plugged up to the comp part it refuses to accept the signal.
For some reason my Bluetooth controllers suck, I have to stay super close to the console for them to work, and I replaced the batteries already and still does it
Just bought one. Overall worked fairly well, but slower than the real thing. makes the music sound real odd too. The cordless controllers worked better than I thought they would, thought the battery port access is poor. However, the unit will NOT save any games utilizing battery back up, which is a complete deal breaker for me. Nice toy, but does not compare to the real thing. Did not keep the unit.

My two complaints were that the console's sound was way off, and that the Genesis originally had stereo output. The 80 in one has mono output.

Sega destroyed themselves on the console war. They had the chance to use the N64 technology before Nintendo passed it up. Had the opportunity to team up with Sony passed it up had the chance to team up with Microsoft and passed it up. All that happened while they had consoles on the market that falling on their faces so hard that it was embarrassing to even see happen. The Genesis was the only good console they really produced and that was because at the time Sega USA had more power than Sega Japan. After that Sega Japan just took over and everyone who did anything good with the brand on the console side quit because they were forced into a position where everything they built was burning around them. The shame of it is that I think they could have dominated todays market if they had stuck with what they built on with the Genesis in more modern consoles. Sega had a the worst identity crisis of any of the console companies. It's kinda ironic that Sonic appeared on some Nintendo games after Sega imploded

Im liking mine so far I really dont have any complaints except for not being able tk save (Idk if the actual Genesis has that feature, didnt have and actual one till like 98/99) and on mk3 sometimes theres this loud weird noise. Still fun to play, the controllers look fine and work fine for me and I ordered an actual sega genesis game cartridge hopefully it works

The actual console itself doesn't have an internal clock for storage, games were programmed to have save batteries. I'm pretty sure games with save features will not work fully in this piece of shit, the game itself will play fine but you'll probably lose your saved games if you make any while playing on this console. You should invest in getting a real Genesis honestly... You can get one for around the same price, or even cheaper if you're lucky. Then getting a flash cart from Aliexpress, which will allow you to play any game on the Genesis you wish, including Master System games.
my 9 yr old son bought this. we played it it was sooo laggy he was upset returned iand just got the real genesis world of difference

There might be something blocking in the infrared between you and this system. It's been awhile since I've looked into this item but that would be my best guess

Just bought one of these to try it. The APU emulation isn't handled correctly on one of the channels (the oscillator channel which handles the base isn't running properly) -- this alone would have been forgiveable. On 'Sonic the Hedgehog' it's also quite noticeable, the fact that the response time on the controller is really slow. You push a button -- you wait, then sonic jumps. Not only do these old ROMs no longer sound good, but they're damn near unplayable too. This is ridiculous. I'm returning this 'Game Console' in the morning.
My mom got this for me online but whoever sold it to her didn't include the cartridge. So you know im sad now.

Okay I think I found out my issue. My TV has only component cables. Can you install this device on components?
You might need to get a CRT TV or go to Radio Shack and get an adapter.
Interestingly enough I got one of these as a present but the controllers are wired otherwise its the same system with the 80 games
There's a good chance there's just different models. These clone jobs have a bunch of versions usually

This console is shit. This review is not good because it doesn't compare with th real Genesis. Go to the part where he plays Alex Kid, then search on CZcams Alex Kid Genesis/Mega Drive and you'll see the difference of graphics and sound...the sound of this console is GOD AWFUL.
Its because Sonic 3 had a save feature and this thing can't save.

I have the second model and it works great I don't know about the first model though. whenever I look at the first model I see a bunch of dials and such and it just kind a looks confusing so I suggest the second model.

Man you should have got the first model. It has the better sound output, and generally looks better too. The video output looks better as well IMO.
