Was great to see Greg again
I can't believe it's implied that Dynamite Heady and Monster World IV aren't classic games. They're great!
Was going to comment the same thing. Dynamite Heady and Monster World IV are amazing!
I just posted this. Dynamite Heady is good all around. I just played Monster World IV with this mini and was surprised.
I haven't played Monster World IV myself, but Dynamite Heady? A goddamn classic that game is.
I guess it's because MW4 never got released on USA until the release of the Mini Console, and DH wasn't a great success at launch, maybe that was the "classics" label they meant. Both games are more like cult classics IMO, due to the fan translations and following they get on later years.
@@Sergevantes MW4 was on Wii virtual console.
After both getting covid, its good to be back!
It’s great to have you back!
You both have survived raccoon City

Really? Glad you make it, i just got my vaccine yesterday

I miss greg
@@Jaymcgom89 I love Greg, he seems like such a nice guy, and kinda shy / self conscious, he’s so likable. :)
Woa fancy seeing you here
Great to see Greg. He looks good.
Same. I know he was going through some really hard times recently. I really hope he's been able to get back on his feet, and I hope the support the channel has gotten shows him that people do care and his work does have a positive impact on people. Personally, channels like this as well as AVGN/GameSack/Implant/Retropolis/Teddy Rubskin (back when he was around) have gotten me through some shitty periods in my life over the years. May not have gotten around to commenting until recently, but I wish nothing but the best for these guys!
Greg is the first man to ever gain weight in prison. Good to see him out and about. Now you have to find a way to eliminate Pat. I have a plan if you're interested.
He can be the Turbo Grafx guy.
Accept they murdered him with a lazer..
@Chatham Mulligan I like Pat too. I'm sure these guys are fine with all man threesome.
He looks like he could have stormed the Capitol while dressed in black and yellow, but apart from that, yeah!
GREG!!! always nice to see him a video no matter how small the role.

I bought the mini SNES for nostalgia; I bought the mini Genesis to experience that side of the 16-bit era for the first time. I don't regret either purchase.
I agree with this episode, except the dig at Monster World IV and Dynamite Heady. Those are fantastic underrated gems.
Same with Light Crusader. I couldn't afford a pc or PS1 to play Diablo, back in the day, and was exited to find a similar style game on the Genesis.
Glad to see Greg is doing okay.
What happened to him?
The genesis mini has collectible add-ons, SEGA does what Nintendont!

He should come back and make the console wars a trio. Two SNES guys vs one GEN guy.
You space bastard, you distintagrated Greg...or guy who looks like him and has a Turbografx 16 Mini. 😂 Great episode guys.
Funny thing is that the Turbo Mini is probably the best of the 3, a lot of games, a better overall selection than the Genesis Mini and it's the best way to own many of those games since there aren't really many ways to own most of them other than on PS3, Wii U and original hardware
@@oscarzxn4067 My only problem with the T-16 mini (or in my case, the Core Grafx Mini) is as of right now there is no hack for it. I hope that ModMyClassic or Hakchi come up with something soon, especially considering M2 did the emulation, just like the Genesis mini

@ammonitida same, recreated the game lists from those systems as a home screen playlists with arcade versions like gradius instead of nes version.
I love how the Sega one has exactly double the amount of games than the SNES. Originally there was only 40t, but they added 2 just so it was double. Sega do what Nintendon't. The console wars rage on
Technically 44 if you count Puyo Puyo and Probotector. (only playable if you console is set to a certain language)

Genesis mini still should have come with a 6 button though!
Yeah, but to be more authentic I guess they couldn't pair the model 1 with the 6 button controller
@@ConsoleWars they did include the six button controller in the version of Asia and Japan, and if they wanted to be more authentic they shoudln't have included games that need six buttons

That was definitely a nice surprise.
OMG! That ending!
Walking that monetization line with that pecker joke but worth it.
God, this episode had me in stitches with the skits.
1:25 Pat's double take at Dan drinking more barbeque sauce was HILARIOUS and PERFECT. Also Dan's deadpan look while he drank it.
20:25 Along with the news reporter hitting the bottle on air.
And of course, Greg. Always nice to see a Greg cameo.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Monster World IV, guys that it an amazing game, one of the best on the mini. Also Dynamite Heady is a very solid game. I think you guys did not play the Sega games enough to judge them properly.
but, as they say, there are many other ways of playing those games. Steam has them, and they're available elsewhere (certainly in the case of Dynamite Headdy). Not the same for SNES, thus it's more essential to get the SNES mini if you don't already own those games. Not that Dynamite Headdy or Monster World IV aren't great (they are), but simply that they're less essential.
@@welshfinn1 Yes, it is famously very difficult to play Mario World and Link to the Past.
@@printthelegends well, compared to most Megadrive games it actually is. I mean, you can play Megadrive games through Steam, and Xbox/PS online stores/compilations. You can't do that with either Mario World or Link to the Past. So, apart from OG hardware, SNES mini or Switch you're knackered. If you don't want mainline Nintendo hardware, what options do you have to legally play the games?
@@welshfinn1 I don't think people who don't own or want to own Nintendo hardware are the key demo for the SNES Classic.
@@printthelegends I'm more interested in fact than opinion. Do you have any data to support this claim?
Greg should cameo in every episode. Yes, even if that stops it from being a cameo.
Nice to see Greg, he's been missed.
Dan, Pat and Greg. What else does a man need on a chill Saturday afternoon?
15:00 I disagree completely here Pat. Kid Chameleon is a good game, Dynamite Headdy is an AMAZING action game, Monster World 4 is an excellent adventure platformer which was never released in English back then (so its inclusion here is a great option), Super Fantasy Zone is a really good shooter that was not released in the US, Light Crusader is an amazing action RPG and Wonder Boy 5 is another great adventure platformer.
Sure, you could say that Alex Kidd and Virtua Fighter 2 are trash (and they are), but the SNES classic is not innocent (I'm looking at you F-Zero).
Overall, for having more games, more variety and more 2 player games, the MegaDrive Mini is the winner.
Was actually Pat who said that. Not Greg.
The main thing I dislike about the Snes choices is that they pick the first games when the sequel is arguably superior, MMX not MMX2, and DKC not DKC2.
Star fox 2 and FF6 are the exceptions, but unlike Genesis they didn't include the past games too, because why not have both? I see no reason they couldn't have included more.
Genesis Mini has Streets of Rage *2* both Sonic 1 and 2, and Monster World 3/4
It just makes the game selection on Snes seem less interesting
@@JetWolfEX I think Sega Mini has the same problem. No Shining Force 2. No Sonic 3.
@Justus Bowman The Japanese version does have Shining Force 2... that hurts.
@@ConsoleWars Also, some of the additions in the SNES classic are kinda questionable. F-Zero and StarFox may have started their franchises, but have aged horribly bad.
And Kirby's Dream Course... it's not bad but I'd say is even less remembered that some of the examples you gave to the Genesis Mini.
Also, no Chrono Trigger.
Hi there, some more info for you from a european guy who grew up with a super nintendo : being able to play to Final Fantasy, Super mario RPG and Earthbound was a nice surprice for us, because these games were not released on the super nintendo in Europe. We could buy them on the wii virtual console, but the store is closed now. The downside of the super nes mini for us, is that each games are in their NTSC version, because European TV were in 50 hz, and the game were converted to work with that. So in one hand it is cool to be able to play to these game in 60 hz now, but in other hand it's kinda sad to not able to play to games that were translated in French or German, only in english language. But we had time to learn english since then, so it's ok!
Hope my comment it useful
PS : Greg is right, the turbografx mini is awesome.
PPS: love your videos!
I know for a fact that the 3DS virtual console is still online.
@@baalfgames5318 Yep, the 3ds one is still online, but I was refering to the wii's one with it's awesome catalogue
When you flipped down the controller cover for the SNES mini I was waiting for it to say "NO DISSAEMBLE!!!"
' *Says Dynamite Headdy isn't a classic* '
WHOA THERE.
It all depends on what you grew up playing. I'd prefer games like Streets of Rage, Shinobi 3, Road Rash and Castle of Illusion rather than any games the SNES has to offer.
Except Super Gouls and Ghosts. That game is amazing. Either way, I own both mini consoles, and they're both a lot of fun.
Heh, I appreciate a good cameo. Though now I actually would have liked to see a 3 way comparison with Turbo Graphix 16 🤣
At Least we can Say both mini consoles are Better than the PS Classic
@Cacy Mays all of them are better when modded
@Cacy Mays Actually, apparently not. Apparently the SNES Mini actually runs PlayStation roms better than the PlayStation Mini, with less slowdown and the like. At least that's what I read/saw reported.
@Cacy Mays I love Hakchi! Did you use Autobleem or Bleemsync/Project Eris for the Playstation Classic assuming you have one?
@Cacy Mays You don't happen to know where someone could find a great Autobleem build that's already done just to throw on a drive do you?
So if I understood the ending correctly, someone got beamed before Greg for praising the Playstation Mini XD
I have a hard time believing someone was praising the PlayStation Classic. I bought mine when it went down to $50 and then a week later it was being sold for $30 and I felt cheated.
I waited for it to be $20. Then immediately hacked it. Now it's worth it.
That goes without saying
@@FoxerTails Darn right it is. Once it was hacked it became my main mini console. Doesn't mean I'm not pissed that Sony didn't put more effort into it. It could have been great. Oh well, that's what the homebrew scene is for.
Let’s talk about price and availability: Winner goes to SEGA GENESIS MINI!!!
no
Yes
Word
Let's be honest most people MOD their snes mini to play other consoles, you could just mod the Genesis library in by ripping roms and llaying them on snes Mini and get all the Snes features.
I still love the Genesis mini, but snes wins
@@StarForceBelmont321 You can also mod the genesis mini
Dynamite Headdy IS one of the best games on the Genesis.
Other than that, great episode as always.
I'd say it's a tie. Plus for the unreleased games in Genesis, Darius was actually created from scratch by a medical doctor b/c he was such a fan of the game and then Taito took that development and did the final touches, including music, and M2 emulated it perfectly (this was an amazing 3-way collab!). Tetris was released by Sega in the arcades but the MD version was never released due to Nintendo's copyright exclusivity at the time. However, this time around, it got the full blessings of Alexey Pajitnov and he even made a video congratulating the release of it for the Japanese MD title reveal party that Sega of Japan did. Really so much labor of love went into releasing the MD/Genesis Mini.
First time I'm a bit disappointed in a result, and it comes down mainly to the admittedly shallow way the game line-ups were looked at. While there are fair arguments regarding Sega re-releasing its games like crazy & offering prior "Mini" consoles, disregarding stuff like the Monster World games, Dynamite Headdy, or Super Fantasy Zone, the lack of acknowledgement of stuff that almost never saw re-release up until that point (Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Alisia Dragoon, & the Konami games, anyone?), & downplaying the fact that M2 went to the trouble of creating two brand new Genesis ports just for this Mini, is disappointing & showed a lack of familiarity with Sega's deeper cuts, which was the very intention of that Mini. Yes, these games don't have the instant name cult status that EarthBound has, but they are still generally considered absolute classics in their own rights; hope you guys don't get the rage of Monster World IV fans by saying that it's "not a classic". Not saying that Sega should have won, but considering the pros each side has over the other, this was definitely a Tie result.
Beyond that, though, another great episode, and it was fun seeing Greg parodying Joe from Game Sack.
This is a good comment. Super Fantasy Zone is incredible and I won’t hear anything bad about it.
Yeah that's a good comment. I was wondering all these same things, also not saying Sega should have won. Even if based on the controller decision by Sega alone, I think the SNES wins here. But damn, Wily Wars was a long ass time coming. It didn't even get a mention.
Totally agree. The Monster World games are amazing, Dynamite Headdy is also a super fun game. Furthermore, alot of these SNES games are available on Switch, as well as some of them being available on other compilations.
I really like both, but shipping the EU and USA Mega Drive versions with a 3 button controller is an absolute dick move considering the console comes with fighting games that need them.
And by the way, Dynamite Heady is a Mega Drive classic and one of the best games of the 16 bit era.
You guys are a ton of fun! And that ending was fantastic
Glad you enjoyed
What an excellent choice of episode! I've been waiting for you guys to take on this one. Great to see you back guys and Greg too!
Oh this looks amazing! I’m so excited to see this! And it’s premiering at a normal time here too, thanks so much guys!
Console wars says: “snes is the only collection to play Super Nintendo games
Nintendo Online snes collection: “Am I a Joke to you?!
Virtual Console: Am *I* a joke to you, too?
I was thinking the same thing. It’s part of how I justified not picking it up was I already had most of these on my Wii U virtual console. Star Fox 2 was the only thing I couldn’t get if I wanted to and...guess what’s on Switch Now?
To be fair though, Switch Online service is more of a rental service you play monthly or yearly to keep playing these games, so it doesn't feel like you legit own these games. Virtual Console is a good argument since once you bought an SNES title on Virtual Console, you do own it. But Virtual Console doesn't count as a compilation. SNES Classic Edition is really the only way to actually buy an SNES compilation since it doesn't help that Nintendo never usually make normal compilations of their old school games. Sega normally makes numerous of compilations over the years to buy . If you ask me, I wish Nintendo brought the Virtual Console back for the Switch so I can buy these previous generation of games because as I mentioned before, in the Switch Online service, you don't actually own the NES and SNES games.
Really enjoyed this you guys. Glad your both recovering well.
The part with the 3rd party SNES controller going into the Genesis mini makes me keep watching this over and over...you guys rock
Everyone should realize their pick is just their opinion, it’s not the definitive answer of which product is better.
Disagree. There's clear anti SEGA bias and POOR consumer advice to spite SEGA. The Genesis Collections are BAD investments as they lack variety, suffer from 50 PAL Mhz, do NOT have the 3rd party rarities. Genesis Mini does and it is Horrible playing SEGA titles on PS4 and Xbox Controllers and they know it.
Console Wars is very one sided, and clearly dislike SEGA as a competitor to Nintendo which is the way it SHOULD be. This is the poorest video they've done. Just shameful.
@@segaunited3855 yea a lot people in their 30s are bias because they grew up with Nintendo’s nes and nostalgia blinds them. If the sega mini did something as simple as having 6 buttons controllers and adding Sonic 3 and knuckles it would definitely be the clear winner
@@Nobunaga1983 The Genesis Mini DOES have 6 button controllers. What are you talking about? Also, if you want to be Black and White about it, then why on earth doesn't the SNES classic have Kirby Superstars OR Yoshi's Island?

The one thing that makes both mini consoles amazing, you can easily hack those bad boys and add as many titles as you want.

@@ConsoleWars fair enough
@@ConsoleWars That reminds me. I know I mentioned in the Discord about adding Dynamite Headdy was to show off the best games that Treasure offered on the Genesis/Mega Drive, but they could have added another Sega Channel exclusive: Alien Soldier, to replace Alex Kidd.
@@ConsoleWars He meant it NEVER got a full Retail release until 2019.
The SNES Mini was nice but the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini was WAY better!
True I got a genesis mini myself on my birthday
@albert fish overall the Mega Drive mini is the better deal. More quality games at a lower price, with the emulation being very good on both consoles. They are both good, but the MD mini gives you quite a bit more quality gameplay for what you pay.
@@starpier More games yes. Quality nah. The genesis mini has alot of filler and the snes mini came packing heat with it's game selection. And to the point in the video you can get a better value of genesis games with a way better controller on the Sega Genesis collections. Of course you can find the genesis mini. Not that many people need it to play genesis games. All the inferior atgames consoles and the numerous sega collections make the mini there a dime a dozen.
@@n8bit874 even taking into account the fillers, which are there I dont deny it, you still have more quality games than on the SNES classic. Or should I say for what you "paid" because right now finding a new SNES classic for less than 150€ is impossible. The Mega Drive Classics collection lags unfortunately so I would not play those games there over the MD mini. If you want the better controller, the officia 6 button controller is dirty cheap at less than 20€.
@@starpier I certainly see your point on availability right now. I got lucky when they released the snes classic and the rereleased the nes classic my local store actually had both in stock so I only paid retail for them. So for what I paid I more than got my money's worth. I did buy a 6 button controller for the genesis mini but I am talking about right out of the box if you can get it for retail and not having to buy a third party controller I feel like you get more quality out of the SNES classic. That doesn't mean the genesis mini doesn't have great games that are exclusives. The wily wars, monster hunter 4, Alissa Dragoon and the Illusion series. They are both great. But I still think the snes classic has more bang for the retail buck.
Can we all agree how awesome it is we got both consoles in mini form? 😁
Agreed
Totally. Though its a shame that this channel is so one sided and biased towards Nintendo that they REFUSE to discuss or talk about the Genesis Mini's pluses and benefits. Even more disheartening, they're trying to prevent its viewers from investing in a Mini and instead buy mediocre quality, slow and sloppily designed Genesis Collection titles for Non SEGA platforms.
Really. Its a shame. We Like Nintendo, but One Sided Bias really rubs me the wrong way.
Thanks for the content fellas! Always brightens up my day or evening.... or whenever I watch it!

And it can keep going. I can put in my woody...what? my woody from toy story.
I don’t think it would fit. At least the CD could stand upright.
I'd get a Genesis/Mega Drive Mini just to be able to play games like Contra Hard Corps/Probotector or Castlevania Bloodlines/The New Generation. Original copies nowadays go for insane prices (and the PAL version of Bloodlines is even censored).
Sega Genesis Mini - $80 vs.
SNES Classic Edition - $250

Thank God for this channel man. Amazing episode.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Honestly this was a great episode I'm not disappointed at all.
I disagree with this verdict. The Genesis Mini does add more in value with the number of games it has for it. As for Earthbound, saying that it adds more value to the SNES, is like saying my hacked PSP has more value just because I added games that are super expensive on eBay. Even though it's just a rom file, not a cartridge. Either way, the Sega Genesis Mini is better.
Totally agree. You're not comparing the SNES mini to any other Genesis mini or collection. You're comparing SNES Mini to Genesis mini. Genesis mini has more games. End of story. Genesis wins
@@joeysnipes5 Exactly.
@@thepearsinator1875 Except it doesn't because the physical copy of Earthbound is worth way more than a rom file that was added to the SNES mini. The fact that it's "official" does not matter at all.
I agree. I was a irritated when the only strong argument on why the SNES mini is better than the Genesis mini is because its less special due to a lot of those titles being released on modern systems. And even after that, not bringing up the argument that there are SNES games you can play on the Switch that have a lot of games the SNES mini have and more.
To me it was such a weak argument instead of bringing up the real reason people want this mini console, and that's cause M2 was behind development for it, which guarantees great emulation for these titles.
@@Renegado140 Exactly.
Great episode guys. The cartridge slot part made me laugh pretty hard. Also, it was good to see Greg back. Thank you guys for another video and I'm glad you guys recovered from COVID.
You know, I feel that Alex Kidd on the Sega mini is actually a good inclusion from a historic standpoint.
Especially since Alex Kidd was Sega's mascot at one point before Sonic the Hedgehog came along.
@@retrofan4963 Yup, exactly what I was thinking. Some people do not know that Alex Kidd was the original mascot.
@@ssjup81 Yeah, true. Sonic really overshadowed him a ton to the point he got got quite obscured to a lot of people even by Sega themselves. So far, I only played Alex Kidd: Miracle World and Enchanted Castle, and in my opinion, they're really great games. Alex Kidd has potential to be an ongoing series the same way as Mario and Sonic.
Both: "... WORST SHAQ FU GAME!" 🎮🎮
one day im sure
I don't know. I could see how some would consider Shaq Fu a guilty pleasure, just like how some would consider Revolution x a guilty pleasure.
Also, it's not really a contest. The Super Nintendo version is the base game, while the Genesis version is the base game plus all the downloadable content.
Both of you better be glad there's no CD-I mini.
I would actually love that since I had one growing up
@Justus Bowman I didn't have a lot of games. I did have Zelda faces of Evil. It had a pretty sweet pinball game too.
Kills me Sega can't always release Sonic 3 & Knuckles, it's missing on the Genesis mini which is a shame; Great video!
Agreed, though I think it has something to do with the music licensing. Rumors exist that Michael Jackson actually composed some of the songs for Sonic 3.
My favorito episode! Greg as the Turbo Grafx Guy was legendary!
Yeah, I had them both at home (as well as the NES Mini and PC Engine Mini too), played them both extensively, and hacked them both as well, and I can say very confidently that the SNES Mini simply trumps the Genesis Mini in most ways that actually matter. Having more games on the Genesis Mini ultimately meant little when the [pretty much Top] 20 games on the SNES Mini just blew away the larger library on the Genesis Mini (and Star Fox 2 is a much more significant unreleased bonus game than Darius II and Genesis Tetris too). The controller that actually comes with the system is vastly superior also, which is a huge part of the experience (and it's also better than the Genesis 6-button controller too, imo but also objectively in many ways). The Interface is better as well (faster, smoother, easier to navigate, nicer looking, etc). And, while this won't matter to most, it actually works better with all the other games from the other systems when hacked too, as well as this also letting you add an option to return to the main menu thtat's even easier than on Genesis (the whole hacking part was a total game-changer for me).
Now, I actually thought the Genesis Mini might take the Mini crown when I initially saw it was offering more games and a few random additional options over the SNES Mini (as well as more practical length controllers and a controller shortcut to get back to the main menu), but, again, this stuff didn't actually mean anything at the end of the day. I ended up putting all my retro games on the SNES Mini (around 190 in total across all the classic consoles: NES, Master System, PC Engine, Genesis, SNES, Neo Geo, GB, GBC, GBA, MAME) and just traded the other systems into CEX for the single one that does absolutely everything I need and extremely well at that.
So, yeah, just like back in the '90s, SNES >>> Genesis.
But, hey, each to their own--right!
CEX? That means you are from the UK where Sega stomped Nintendo, I was a fan of both growing up, the Snes had a couple of very heavy hitters and the rest were just ok/good games where the Sega had one or two heavy hitters and quite a few very good games and some ok games. Starfox 1 and 2 had terrible framerates, the controllers were unusable without extension cables, and I bought the Asia version of the Sega console that cost the same and came with 6 button controllers, I also like the option of aspect rations so Sega won, the filters sucked more on Nintendo, and holding start was easier than getting up to reset, also at least I can use the Sega controllers for my pc or a raspberry pi, can't say that about the Nintendo controllers so its better value.
Yea definitely each to their own as I have both consoles (original and Mini) and I can confidently say I have way more fun with the Genesis.
@@revengenerd1 I don't recall if Genesis actually outsold SNES in the UK, but it absolutely got demolished by Nintendo in every one of the major territories of that time (America, Japan and Europe) regardless of one or two random victories in various countries (like Brazil for example).
It's basically irrelevant that you state Star Fox had/as a "terrible frame rate" because at the time it came out it was more than good enough to make the game an absolutely brilliant experience--please check any/all reviews from that time if you doubt this for even one second--and even now is still great fun to play regardless of the lower frame rate. Back in the '90s and the time of the console wars, Star Fox was a technical marvel (very few games indeed ran in full 3D on any home consoles at that time, and even at like 20 fps it was still mind-boggling to see), a masterpiece of game design and a total system seller that was only on SNES, so your negativity towards the game here doesn't carry any real weight. Star Fox is legit, and certainly still more technically impressive than any and every game on the Genesis Mini.
Yeah, the fact you got a version with the 6-button controller still doesn't mean much: The Genesis/Mega Drive Mini only has a couple of games that even take advantage of it, whereas most of the games on the SNES Mini take proper advantage of that standard controller's unique features in one way or another.
Eh, the SNES Mini has better display options than the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini, particularly the superior scan line filter and the much better pixel perfect mode. And the border options are just far better (although I tend to stick to plain black anyway).
Yes, the annoyance of having to get up to reset the console is the only legit issue you have raised--and I could raise the too short controller cable length as another one--but I luckily fixed that by hacking the machine and adding in a quick button combo that does the job even more effectively than on the Genesis Mini, and I also bought a couple of cord extenders so I can now play very comfortably sitting on my couch. But, yes, without doing that hack, that is a really dumb design decision on Nintendo's part there.
Overall though, the SNES Mini is just superior to the Genesis/Mega Drive Mini. And, hey, just like in the good old days, SNES [mini] also outsold Genesis/Mega Drive [mini] once again.
@@inceptional Sega came from nowhere and took a huge chunk of Nintendos base, and it did dominate in most of Europe, why is it "irrelevant" to tate Star Fox's framerate when it was stated in many magazines of the time? Yes they praised it but they did mention the framerate, maybe more so in PAL territories due to being slower automatically .Sure it looked good bar the framerate but it required additonal chips as did quite a few Snes games as it didn't have the raw power to do it without it, the one Sega game that did was impressive. Also bear in mind Sega was a nobody in America and took a good chunk of Nintendo's fanbase, and that was even with Nintendo's draconian rules and policies, the controller thing seems to be no matter what Sega is shamed, it has 2 or 3 games that require it, then it was a bad decision to not include it, oh a version does include it, then its a waste. I and many people don't like emulated scanlines and don't care for the aspect ration much or want borders, if it was just about emulation people could just hack the consoles and get rid of the majority of the flaws. You are speaking to someone who back in the 80's was playing games when as young as 3 or 4 years old on the microcomputers and was so obssessed with gaming till my early 20's I have so many rare niche games that are worth a lot of money now and had all mainstream consoles (and now RGB modded 60hz etc OG consoles) and expensive component leads, I even the variants i.e Mega Drive 2, MS 2, Famicom, AV Famicom I wouldn't say Star Fox 1 and 2 are bad games as such just nowhere near as enjoyable due to frame rate, plus they are vastly overrated.
@@revengenerd1 A huuuge amount of SNES games used enhancement chips, and this was a very intentional design feature of the system implemented from literally day one in the Pilotwings game, so it doesn't matter if the SNES CPU was a bit slow compared to the Genesis because the chip-on-a-cart nature of sooo many of its games was part of that system's inherent design. And a whole load of games absolutely benefited from it. But, even without the enhancement chips, the SNES still had many unique strengths over the Genesis (which the chips worked alongside), such as a much higher total colour palette with way more of those colours displayable on screen at once, more proper overlapping and independently scrolling background layers, proper transparency, a bunch of very cool built-in graphics modes like Mode 7, and a superior sound chip with much better orchestrated sound and voice samples. It also has the superior controller too. So the Genesis was faster, and SNES certainly couldn't have done Star Fox without the chip (at least not faster than maybe a couple of frames a second), but it did a whole lot of stuff the Genesis couldn't. Each system had its strengths and weaknesses, but overall the SNES just wins for me personally, and by most objective metrics too for that matter (numbers of titles in library, critical acclaim and enduring appeal of its best titles, better overall sales, etc).
Is it just me, or does the TG16 guy look almost identical to the Nintendo guy for some reason?
(Seriously, great episode!)
No, the TG-16 guy has a much bigger beard.
@@WhitePointerGaming Other than that though... I swear they are twins or something.... Can't quite put my finger on it.
@@itchyisvegeta He looks identical to the previous Nintendo guy... because it's him.
@@WeskerSega I know. I was trying to imply a joke that TG16 and Nintendo could be twins or something.
@@itchyisvegeta I thought about that, but was ambiguous because i couldn't figure out if you were pointing out to old Nintendo guy (Greg) or new one (Pat), because old and new are somewhat alike.
I missed you guys!!!! Glad you are well again!!!!
Finally! Glad y’all are well and safe! One of the best channels on CZcams. And it was awesome seeing Greg again. Digging the beard! Y’all are looking good!
Thank you!
Easiest hint ever american gladiators
When was the last time we had a worst comparison? I'm thinking that this one might be at because last time I checked, the games were virtually unplayable due to some of the worst controls I've ever seen in a video game.
Fun fact alex kid is actually a pretty popular retro gaming icon in Europe.
Haven't clicked on a video so fast! Liked before watching and boy was I correct in doing so. This was FANTASTIC!
Happy to see you guys are well and keep up the good work dudes 😀
Hey come on with those Greg comments. Not cool, Pat kicks ass too.
I think Pat doesn't feel bad because of those comments. We like him, it's just Greg isn't around as much anymore.
Huh? We can be stoked to see Greg again and still like Pat, man. What were we just supposed to say "who gives a damn about Greg?" or something? Not in this timeline, pal.
